Aqsalith: The Current Within
The Acqsael are explorers of the deep. Finding a new fissure or cavern creates excitement within their small society. Whenever one goes out to explore, others will chime in with, "Maybe you will find the living metal!”
One of the Acqsael's oldest legends tells of a rare metal alloy found in a deep cavern in the underwater realm. The story tells of the disappearance of a young Acqsael, which led to the discovery of a hidden fracture along a distant portion of their coral reef. Upon exploration, they found a large, multi-chambered cavern that went deep into the ocean floor. While mapping their new find, the explorers came upon a chamber with a vein of unfamiliar blue-silver metal embedded in the stone. The material seemed to be alive, shifting and moving as though currents of water ran through it. They studied samples and eventually learned to refine this new substance, which eventually came to be known as Aqsalith.
Aqsalith is a rare alloy forged by the acqsael within a deep cavern in their water realm. In these forges, they use pressure and the mineral-rich sea waters that flow through the cavern, as well as arcane means to manipulate the ore into a malleable metal. The result of this process is an alloy remarkable for an internal current that flows just under the surface, giving the impression that it carries the living beat of the ocean.
This metal has a rich blue-silver hue, much like that of pale light on smooth steel. Under its luminous exterior, the slight movement of watery shadows flows continuously, creating the appearance of water trapped within. Aqsalith has a brilliant sheen when exposed to light. A pale inner luminescence persists, growing more pronounced in the dark where it pulses softly with a rhythmic accent.
Ornamental Form
One use of aqsalith is purely ornamental and can be fashioned into jewelry, ceremonial adornment, and decorative craftsmanship. The alloy possesses no other special abilities besides the sinuous flow beneath the surface.
The metal keeps its rich blue-silver hue and mirrored sheen. Under the surface, the slight movement of watery shadows flows continuously. This movement follows the curve of each piece, without disturbing the surface.
Mechanical Form
Flares
Aqsalith has an inherent ability to naturally produce water flares. When hit by heat, the flares turn to steam. When hit by cold, the flares change to ice.
Weapons have a chance to leave puddles on the ground when striking enemies. When lightning is used, it will trigger a player friendly flare against targets in the room.
Armor and Shields
In addition to the flares, armor and shields have a special ability.
Surge of the Depths: There is a standard flare chance when struck that the armor will add 10 CER crit padding for that attack.
