CHE Room Construction Guide

Refer to the influence guide for all IP costs associated with room construction.

Step 1: Choose a location. If you’re building a standalone annex, the location must be approved by the town guru and the CHE controller. Annexes are limited to 5 rooms, and 1 room must be a members only room, and one room must be a locker room. Be sure to include the existing Room, or the room where you’ll enter the new room/annex from. Include the room name and room description.

Step 2: Room Name (31 max. characters) – This is the name of the new room. It should start with your house name. For example: Twilight Hall, Lounge. If the room name is too long if including the house name, it can be omitted.

Step 3: Room Description – (max. 511 characters). Two spaces between each sentence. Describe the area.

  • Day – What does the room look like during the day?
  • Night – This can have a different look at night, but should incorporate a description that makes it relevant such as candles burning, or moonlight coming through a window.

Step 4: Portals:

  • Entrance – How do you get into the room? A door, a hole, a direction. If you want special messaging for the entrance, be sure to describe how you see the room being entered.
  • Exit – How do you get out of the room? A door, out, a direction?

Step 5: Props/Furniture – Include the items you want to interact with in the room like furniture, or other props. They can have long or show descriptions. These items can have general use scripts like a sitting script, or water for a pool, etc. You can also write your own ezscripts for interacting with the props. For example, if you have a bookshelf that you want to dust off when you touch it, you could submit something like: TOUCH: Grabbing a nearby feather duster, you tidy up the surface of an oak bookshelf.

Additional items to consider in appropriate rooms/areas:

  • Trashcans
  • Chalkboard
  • Mirror
  • Fireplace
  • Window
  • Storage Containers
  • Lamps
  • Podium
  • Dance Floor
  • Dartboard
  • Library Books
  • Swimming Pool
  • Fishing Pond

Step 6: Mood Messaging – Ambient messaging that will fire when someone is in the room. These can be separate for day and night.

For example, if you’re in a garden, you might include things like:

  • Night – The sound of an owl hooting is heard from a nearby tree.
  • Day – A yellow butterfly flits about the garden, before landing on a nearby rosebush.

Step 7: Special Requests:

  • Members only
  • Node
  • No magic
  • No teleport
  • No familiars
  • No hiding
  • No locates
  • Private latching room
  • Keyed room
  • Shrine
  • No stealing

Step 9: Food items – Do you want to include new or existing food items set out for permanent use?

Step 10: Submission – Submit your building plans with your quarterly report. This can be done on the form itself, or if easier, you can submit a link to a google doc or spreadsheet.

Final Thoughts: The Controller will work with you to make any changes necessary, however, QC has the final say on all items and areas submitted. Please keep things in genre and proofread your work prior to submitting it. The house is responsible for all design. If you're building more than one room, consider mapping it out to see how the rooms fit together. Look at existing areas in game for ideas. If you need help with something, please ask.
