A Two-Story House, Entryway

[A Two-Story House, Entryway - 8212586]
The muffled sounds of passersby trickle through the heavy metal-strapped door separating the entryway from the outside. A thick bristly rug sits on the dark slate tile just inside the door as a token attempt to corral the mud and dirt from outside, and some polished brass coat hooks line one wall. A wide crystal-paned door to the side leads into a dark-panelled room, and opposite it is a curving stairway. Behind the stairway, the tantalizing smell of cooking wafts down a narrow hallway.
Obvious exits: none

A Two-Story House, Kitchen

[A Two-Story House, Kitchen - 8212590]
A long kitchen island topped with heavy butcher's block is flanked on one side with a row of upholstered stools, and on the other by a brick hearth wall. Warm sunlight and a cool breeze stream through a high-set window, setting its muslin curtains fluttering and reflecting brightly off the droplets of water clinging to the spout of the wrought iron hand pump in the heavy ceramic sink below. Faint light can be seen down a narrow hallway, and beyond the row of stools are a pair of glass-paned doors.
Obvious exits: none

On the kitchen island you see: a delicate porcelain teapot set on an iron trivet, a plate of gingerbread cookies, a tray of freshly baked cinnamon rolls glazed with honey, a covered basket of croissants, and a chilled pitcher of milk.

A Two-Story House, Smoking Room

[A Two-Story House, Smoking Room - 8212588]
Several thick armchairs provide comfortable seating near some accent tables. The placement of an imposing marble hearth and the high windows suggests the room was once a dining area, but the permeating smell of aromatic cigar smoke and the etched crystal decanter of brandy on the mantelpiece indicate an alternate use to the room now. A wide archway across from the windows leads back to a living area, while a pair of glass-paned doors opposite the hearth offers a glimpse of a cozy kitchen.
