Windlass crossbows (also known as old-style mechanical crossbows) can be cocked using the TURN verb, which unlike normal crossbows does not force a stance change. They are a seperate, older script from the mechanical ranged weapon script.

Usage

You attempt to blend with the surroundings and feel confident that no one has noticed your doing so.

>STANCE DEF
You are now in a defensive stance.

Your grab the windlass attached to the crossbow and turn it, smoothly cocking it.

You remove a wooden heavy crossbow bolt from in your black leather longcoat.
