Valensek is a Nalfein Elf, tall in stature and has a leanly muscled physique. He appears to be young and robust with brooding malachite eyes and smoothly tanned skin. He has cropped, salt-and-pepper grey hair with a chiseled, angular face and a jagged scar near his right eyebrow.
His nose is pierced with a black-tinted amethyst pygmy octopus and he has a tenebrous shadowy kraken tattoo on his neck.
He is wearing a brushed obsidian wool cloak buckled at the shoulder, some ashen tweed suspenders, an obsidian fitted leather shirt embossed with a dagger-framed insignia set above knotted ropes, a pair of black onyx-studded gauntlets, a hand-carved oak signet ring etched with tiny leaves, a dark oilcloth bag secured with a smooth gold clasp, a black leather herb kit crafted with vaalin rivets, an ebon byssus pouch with woven satin drawstrings, some obsidian wool pants, and a pair of black onyx-toed boots.
Backstory
Valensek of House Iridellan, or simply Val to those who've earned the right, was born into one of the oldest and most opulent families in Ta'Nalfein. The Iridellans draped themselves in silks spun from moonlight moths and bathed in waters drawn from sacred springs. They were master diplomats, traders of the exotic, and owned most of the largest ships in the harbor. Val, the youngest son, was expected to be a polished jewel among them ~ refined, poised, and above all, disciplined.
And in many ways, he was. From an early age, Val trained in martial arts, not out of necessity, but as an aristocratic curiosity. He took to it with quiet passion, learning to move like shadow and strike like lightning. While his kin dealt in politics and commerce, Val honed the elegance of combat, mastering precision over brute force. Yet under the polished surface of his upbringing simmered a hunger for risk, one that would come to define him.
Gambling was his first rebellion. It began as sport: private games in perfumed salons, wagers made over chessboards and brawling duels. But Val didn't stop when the stakes grew high. He wagered land, heirlooms, even his family’s name in foreign courts. After one ruinous night in the Amber Vaults beneath Ta'Nalfein, Val’s debts were too vast, too public, and too disgraceful. The Iridellans washed their hands of him. With elegant precision, they severed ties.
Stripped of title, coin, and influence, Val left the jeweled island of his homeland and took to sea. He arrived in Solhaven with little more than his family signet ring and debts that now chased him across oceans.
It was there he met Admiral Pixie, and in her crew aboard The Madness, he found a strange sort of kinship. Hired on as their Swashbuckler, Val lent his grace to boarding raids and back-alley brawls alike. He fights like a dancer, speaks like a diplomat, and flirts like a noble who’s forgotten he has nothing left to offer but charm.
Though outwardly composed, Val is reserved ~ his smile never quite touching his eyes. Behind that polished façade is a man driven by a need to prove he can rebuild what was lost… or at least gamble his way into something worth keeping.
