Missing - A NotB Vignette
People move about the Hanging Gardens, some with friends, while others choose a bench to rest on while reading a book or enjoying a cup of tea or wine.
Two young ladies sit together poring over the latest copy of Elanthian Vogue. “I see they are finally taking things seriously,” says one as she glances at a large ivory poster with the words “Missing” in bold letters at the top.
The other turns to study the poster before replying, “You have to admit his antics were sometimes unkind, but I would not wish any harm to come to Gasen.”
“They should be doing more than just posters. Poor Galieca as well…” The first girl pauses to examine a second sign. "I wish the guard and the court would take these disappearances more seriously. I heard my mother tell a friend that many are angry about the lack of action and that there is talk about taking matters into their own hands.”
Closing her pamphlet, the other replies, “Well, something has to be done. All of these people disappearing could be dead. Who is next? If we cannot rely on the Guard and the Argent Mirror, then who can we look to?” She quickly looks about with a nervous glance before continuing, “I have to go help mother with dinner, see you tomorrow?”
"I will be here,” the girl returns, nodding slightly.
Taking one more look at the posters, they walk off in different directions.
