Unlocked portrait panels operate very similarly to the Artist, with some minor exceptions.
The Panel holder will choose the verbosity with FLIP PANEL ahead of time. When the verbosity is selected, they can then WAVE the panel AT the target, who will receive the pose instructions as with the Artist system. Changing pose options will usually reset the timer for being captured, compared to the strict 60 seconds with the Artist. The Panel holder will see most of the pose changes as they occur, and when the target is ready the panel holder will WAVE at the target again to capture the pose.
Unlocked panel verbs include:
gaze (quietly preview), wave (capture imprint), clean (reset imprint), flip (cycle verbosity).

(Specifically for the agara-fae artist in The Imprinter's Studio at Ebon Gate, but notes for using a rare unlocked portrait panel are included.)

The Artist's Studio is a completely automated way to upgrade a basic Dreamfire illusion panel for a Dreamfire Panel Bracelet with a custom illusion portrait of you on the second, concealed side. No GM interaction is needed for these any longer.

The portrait side will remain locked and contain your portrait, you cannot change a portrait with a locked panel on your own. Unlocked ones are rare raffle/auction wins. The portrait cannot be changed at a GALD Merchant.

The artist only paints you, not someone else. The artist does not paint more than one person.

The studio is open during all of Ebon Gate, not only for Merchant Week.

Sitting for A Dreamfire Illusion Panel Portrait

What You Need for the Portrait:

  • a basic panel
You do not need anything unlocked, a simple off the shelf standard panel is all you need. Order one with the front side design of your choice at Illusory Dreams, West room of the shop on the Ebon Gate festival grounds. The attendant will take your ORDER from the hundreds of stock designs available by number.
  • 60 shards sitting fee, payable at the end
    • For a revision of a portrait, the cost is only 12 shards

The artist's sign will get you started.

You can preview your portrait pose to try out options and settings without ever having a panel or making a final purchase. Play with it. Multiple times! It is grand fun.

What's Included in the Portrait

Evermore Hollow Venue Note: The artist sees the real you with his special Artsy Eyes of Discernment, your Naidem undead appearance is not painted. If you are wearing a mask, however, it's probably going to get included, keep that in mind. Tell the artist MORE/LESS to preview what features will be included in the final design if you want to check what is included ahead of time.

Mix and match all of these various settings for your portrait:

  • This is a headshot. Your outfit will not be captured in the painting.
  • Your features
  • Decide if you want MORE or LESS of your features.
  • Some feature-worn items and hair styles get included
  • Your post title; If it is more than 15 characters, it will be skipped. You can change your title in the middle of the pose if you find it is being left off and want it updated to something else. Choose wisely!
  • An prop in your hand. The pose system looks at your right hand first for a prop, if it doesn't find one (it ignores panels explicitly), then it looks in your left hand for a prop.
    • (The POSE style you choose will determine the styling of how the item in your right hand interacts with the portrait.)
  • Each pose style (default, COMBAT, DRINK, FOOD, STUDY) will indicate which settings can change the outcome when chosen. Not all styles utilize all settings.
  • Demeanor, go ahead play with yours and see how it changes the portrait
  • Stance, play with that, too.
  • Your position
    • Stand
    • Kneel
    • Sit
    • Lay

The Process

Start in the Den of the Imprinter's Studio shop on the southeast side of Evermore Hollow's Outer Circle, a squat panel-inset house, [Map Room 21, Room# 8083020, Lich# 31613, go panel-inset house]

Have a panel ready if you plan to ask for a final portrait imprint.

You'll notice the sign first:

a painted sign
In the Common language, it reads:

Welcome to The Imprinter's Studio!

You may ASK the available artist for HELP if you have questions about:
SERVICE - to receive a summary of the process.
FEE - to inquire about the cost of the service.
PANEL - to have your item validated.

You may TELL the available artist to:
BEGIN - when you are ready to start posing.
MORE/LESS - to capture more or less of your features.

Please note that service will not conclude until you GIVE the artist your valid item to complete the imprint.

In addition to these specific instructions to the artist, once you begin, you also have access to special POSE style variations.

There are 5 options to the POSE command as of this writing.

  • POSE - Default (nothing after the POSE command)
  • POSE COMBAT: use a weapon in your right hand
  • POSE DRINK: use a drink in your right hand
  • POSE FOOD: use an item of food in your right hand
  • POSE STUDY: use a book item in your right hand

You can explore the settings after a POSE <style option> command with your different demeanor and stances.

Use POSE CHECK for some feedback about the current portrait.

Refine the portrait by telling the artist more or less. There are three levels of features he will include, a minimal, middling, and verbose set of details from your features.

TELL ARTIST MORE

All settings can be played with while you are posting for him. There is a 60 second timeout period, and you will have to start over.

If you time out, or begin again, you will have to set all the settings again, the artist will not remember them.

The Final Portrait

When you are pleased with the work, the artist will imprint the last thing he showed you, not your current status. Don't fret about putting away the prop in your right hand to give him your panel.

Get your panel in your right hand GIVE ARTIST

He collects the payment and hands you back a finished panel.

You can review what the illusion will look like right then without having to insert it into a Dreamfire Panel braclet with:

GAZE MY PANEL

The panel is now ready to install into any proper Dreamfire Panel item which creates the illusions.

Compared to Unlocked Portrait Panels

Unlocked portrait panels operate very similarly to the Artist, with some minor exceptions. The Panel holder will choose the verbosity with FLIP PANEL ahead of time. When the verbosity is selected, they can then WAVE the panel AT the target, who will receive the pose instructions as with the Artist system. Changing pose options will usually reset the timer for being captured, compared to the strict 60 seconds with the Artist. The Panel holder will see most of the pose changes as they occur, and when the target is ready the panel holder will WAVE at the target again to capture the pose. Unlocked panel verbs include: gaze (quietly preview), wave (capture imprint), clean (reset imprint), flip (cycle verbosity).
