Information on the multiplication (asterisk) template usage.
Usage
Math
This template may be used as a cdot equivalent in a mathematical formula; it looks like this: [ • ]
Common usage is to depict multiplication of two variables. For example both are valid mathematical formulas, but readability in some formulas may require use of the multiplication symbol.
AB = C |
and
A • B = C |
In order to generate the cdot or multiplication symbol, enclose an asterisk in braces like this {{*}}.
Thus, the code used to generate the second equation above would be:
{{equation box|{{math|A{{*}} B {{=}} C}}}}}}
Bulleted Lists
This template may be used as the equivalent of a bullet in a bulleted list, as well. Use of the template in this fashion should be restricted to cases where it is absolutely necessary for readability. The internal wiki function for bulleted lists should be the primary choice for generating bulleted lists as it is faster and easier to read / maintain than it is using this template.
