Hibbits Hoft is the interim mayor of Icemule Trace as of late 5117.

Description

You see Hefty Hibbits.
He appears to be a Brughan Halfling.
He is indescribably short and has stubby arms and legs. He appears to be in his second childhood. He has close-set grey eyes and alabaster skin. He has closely shaved, spiky peppered hair with long, dull red sideburns. He has an oval face, a broad nose and a short unkempt dull red beard. He has a pronounced pot belly.
He has a light sephwir pipe clenched between his teeth.
He is in good shape.
He is wearing a brushed blue felt hat, a pair of soft rabbit fur earmuffs, a fraying red and ivory cameline scarf, a crumb-covered beige canvas pack, several tight-fitting tunics of various furs and leathers, a coil of braided jute rope, a chipped dark iron bucket, some grey wool pants tearing at the seams, and a pair of thick blue fur boots attached to large snowshoes.

Citizens of Icemule Trace:
In an attempt to address some of the rumors which have begun to spring up about town, please note the following: Mayor Nihala has been stricken with a curious and unknown malady that has made it impossible for her to continue her sworn duties at present. You may be aware that she has not been seen in public for some time, and I hasten to assure you that there is no need for concern. To that end I, the Deputy Mayor, will serve as Interim Mayor, effective immediately. Citizens should expect to see no change in the level of service from the Office of the Mayor, all town officials, and other civic services to which you have become accustomed. Citizens can, of course, address any concerns to me directly. Any problems which might arise will be handled with the same expediency as always.

Other items of note: Clovertooth Hall has received multiple requests for permits to build, improve upon, and enhance local facilities. I will advise the public if and when these projects are allowed to proceed. Additionally, Berrytoe has submitted plans to renovate the general store, and these plans have been approved. Thus, the general store will be closed for a short time in the coming days while these renovations take place. 

Last, regarding any strange sightings during recent snowstorms or other oddities some citizens have reported seeing or hearing about town, I can assure you that we are keeping a close eye on things, and will deal with any anomalies with haste, just as we have always done.

Citizens of Icemule Trace:

It has come to my attention that a slew of creatures with little regard for halfling lives made it past our town's defenses last night. I find this fairly disconcerting, as our town's walls have not been breached for at least a decade. You have my word that I will look into how this could have happened, and what can be done to prevent it from happening again. There was also a report from one citizen that a gate guard was crying out about his lack of combat training, and inability to defend the gate. This is quite serious, and will be looked into. These guards hold our lives in their hands every day, and if they are truly unable to perform their duties, it's a travesty that must be rectified at once.

With regard to the rumors of voices chanting my name from the shadows last night, I can only assume they were shouting "Hibbits" in support of my efforts to lead this proud city forward despite Nihala's maladies. I am confused by these whisperings of "orbs of power" about town. I am aware of no such things. I wonder if those who speak of having seen them are suffering some kind of post-invasion trauma, or are otherwise imagining them.

I remain steadfast in my concern for the unprecedented amount of snowfall, unheard of even for our frigid mountain town, and I encourage us all to continue to remain vigilant, just as we were last night. Stay at the ready should we be required to come together again; trust that I will continue to be by your side defending our home as I was mere hours ago.

Last, though many have petitioned me for information, I have no updates on Mayor Nihala, but my assistants continue to report that they are tending to her needs.

I will address these and other issues during my upcoming appearance at Clovertooth Hall.
