~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ MURDER AT THE DOCKS! ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ Dateline: Day 3 of Ivastaen, 5104: Wehnimer's Landing Rain, snow, gnomes, or demons - nothing will keep me from a good story. It seems a reliable source first tipped me off that there was some out of the normal activity at the docks. Not one to miss a clash between the city officials and the city scum, I was quick to arrive at the docks. I had positioned myself behind a large stack of crates which provided me with ample concealment while giving me a good view of the action. It seemed the action was already over. The shadows that often frequent the docks were few and far between this night. I'm guessing because of the dozen city guards congregating around what appeared to be a body. Taking a chance and moving in a bit closer, my assessment was correct. In the center of the haphazard circle of city guards was a stiff body whose only visible injury was a jagged slice across his throat. It was near impossible to eavesdrop on the city officials, so I took my leave quietly and vowed to find answers the next morning. The next morning, however, there were not many answers to be found. I've only managed to gather two bits of information so far. The first is the victim's identity. Respecting the dead and his living relatives, I will not give his name. However, the human had recently moved to Wehnimer's Landing to open up his own silk shop along North Ring Road. He had just been granted a building permit by the City a day before he was found murdered. The second bit of information was that the city officials seem intent on keeping this murder as quiet and clean as they can. Rumor has it this murder is related to a few other murders, all of which were covered up. It seems the reason for doing this is because there may be some criminal organization trying to strong arm their way up the ladder. Whether any of these rumors are true or not, you can count on me to get to the bottom of it. But in the meantime, stay away from the Landing docks at night and don't even think about opening your own silk shop - not yet. Grums Strumsbelly - Scholar of Biblia
~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ NORTHERN FURY AUXILIARY CORPS, WE SERVE THOSE WHO ARE BUSY SERVING US ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ Dateline: Day 26 of Olaesta, 5104: Icemule Trace The Northern Fury Auxiliary Corps has arrived with a powerful mission statement: Northern Fury Auxiliary Corps is a body of volunteers whose goal is to uplift, support, assist, and encourage all members of the Northern Fury, their families, and the town we serve - Icemule Trace. We will do this consistently, consciously, courageously, and continually to the very best of our abilities. We serve those who are busy serving us. As volunteers, people are welcome to join in our events as they find time and it is convenient for them to do so. Many citizens of Icemule Trace, as well as other cities, share in the cause and want to help during both times of trial and times of rest. Northern Fury Auxiliary Corps will facilitate this by organizing volunteers, thus helping people so they can assist in a meaningful way. Not everyone is a hardened solder, battle ready with nerves of steel. It does not mean we do not appreciate those who are solders. These fine men and women need equipment, healing, clerical intervention, all along with a sincere smile, a firm handshake, and a comforting arm around them. The NFAC is that arm. During times of battle, people may loose their homes and belongings. They may lose the ability to communicate with their families and loved ones. The Northern Fury Auxiliary Corps can assist during these times of trials and tribulation by offering messenger services, food, clothing, and shelter. These items do not come easily, but the NFAC is determined to help by tapping into resources both locally and globally across the lands to assure anyone who needs assistance finds assistance in a timely fashion. Although the NFAC will follow all rules and codes of conduct while engaged, the members of the Corps are still volunteers and are not beholden to the long hours or tight regime the Northern Fury maintains. Potential volunteers are encouraged to read posts at the hall, be aware of news thoughts, and read public service announcements in this Journal as well as on the appropriate periodicals. Questions? Please see Josslyn or ask any Northern Fury member and they will direct you as to where to find out more. Lady Josslyn Roseann Greenstone, NFAC Leader
~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ QUEEN ANNOUNCES CULTURAL PAGEANTS: REACTION - SHOCK! ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ Dateline: Day 5 of Ivastaen, 5104: Ta'Illistim Shockwaves from the court of Queen Myasara are still resounding - all the way west to the farthest reaches of Elanthia. In a move that all races, from Human to Dwarven to Half-Krolvin, have described as "astounding," Queen Myasara has announced not one, but two cultural pageants to take place in the Elven nations this summer. Speaking through court officials, the Queen announced that a pageant honoring Elves and Sylvans will be held in Ta'Illistim on the second weekend of Koaratos. A pageant to honor the newly discovered Aleotoi will be held in Ta'Vaalor on the following weekend. Responses from those west of the Dragonspines has ranged from shock to bemusement. Jimbla Dabbings, City Council Member of Icemule, reacted by saying, "Aleotoi? Do they even have a culture?" When asked about these developments in what is now being called the Cultural Wars, some traveling Erithians were heard to murmur in dismay that their culture was quickly becoming invisible. ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ MAYOR CAVES IN TO HALF-KROLVIN DEMANDS ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ Dateline: Day 7 of Ivastaen, 5104: Wehnimer's Landing A cowering Mayor announced today that Wehnimer's Landing will sponsor a cultural pageant featuring the accomplishments of the Half-Krolvin race. Appearing in Moot Hall today, white-faced, trembling and clutching a sheet of parchment, the Mayor announced that the pageant will take place on the fourth weekend of Koaratos in the town of Wehnimer's Landing. While making the announcement, the Mayor glanced nervously several times at an honor guard of Half-Krolvins who surrounded him, their claidhmores held up in an impressive display of military prowess. After making the announcement, the Mayor collapsed and had to be carried back to his offices. A clerk was later seen hurrying into his office, carrying a bottle of demon rum. ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ SPRING LOCKPICKING CONTEST ANON! ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ Dateline: Day 15 of Ivastaen, 5104: Wehnimer's Landing Locksmiths and Wish-they-were-Locksmiths are invited to attend Silverwood Manor's Spring Lockpicking Contest in Whenimer's landing at 10 PM on the 15 of Ivastaen. At this time, the bizarre monolithic contraption will be kicked and cajoled to life by Rogue Mentors Aurien, Rhandi and others. Contestants shall compete for prizes and glory, pitting their smithing skills against others of like age. All professions and abilities are welcome. This much anticipated event is enjoyed by nearly everyone, except, perhaps the two fatalities reported at the last contest. "We hope to improve on that number," said Taylir Ye'Sidul. If she desired the corpse count to increase or decrease was left unclear.
