~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ EVIL EXPERIMENTS IN SOLHAVEN! ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ Dateline: Day 14 of Phoenatos, 5104: Solhaven Solhaven, living up to its reputation as a haven for miscreants of all stripes, has once again been terrorized by the unnatural experiments. According to Charna, a pretty half-elven ranger who resides in Solhaven, a Faendryl sorceress named Nyvelise arrived in town recently, pretending to be an herbalist from New Ta'Faendryl. "I saw 'er in tha' southern section o' our North Market," Charna reports, "but I donnae speak Dark Elven so I wasnae much help fer 'er." Charna helpfully summoned some dark elven residents and went on her way. A bit later, she heard them asking for help in locating some herbs. As a ranger, she has expert knowledge of the local flora and assisted the party in finding them. Nyvelise, it seemed, was interested in herbs that would "preserve" things. Nyvelise left to work on her experiments and returned two days later to announce success. Her announcement was interrupted by the sound of screaming and it was discovered that her experiment was in the ghastly nature of re-animating corpses! She had succeeded in animating the corpse of the dead troll. Not only was the grotesque monster walking, talking, and feeding on the local populace, but it had somehow acquired an extra arm! (Charna did not speculate on whether the arm was sewn on, or whether it had spontaneously sprouted.) Nyvelise was asked to leave the town immediately. She appeared to honor that request, but showed up about a week later with several more re-animated trolls. When the residents of Solhaven complained, she seemed taken aback, and tasked them with their "unfriendliness" to a visitor. ~Nellida Dashovath, Pert Journalist
~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ A NEW MONESTARY OPENS! ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ Dateline: Day 17 of Koartos, 5103: Ta'Vaalor The brotherhood of Voln expanded into the Elven Nations, and now has a foothold, just outside the Fortress City of Ta'Vaalor. High Priest Vitharyl Tinil-Ganduil, a Vaalor elf patron of Lord Kai, managed to secure the funds needed to build the new monestary. "The clergy have been trying to build an extension of the Patron's Order out here for some time. It was only recently that we acquired the funds and permits." said High Priest Vitharyl, "The Patron's Order was established among the Houses since after the Undead Wars. There was public outcry resulting in elves seeing their family members walking as a part of the vile undead. There are a few monasteries to the Patron Voln in the nations, mostly on the outskirts of towns. We've been trying for years to get permission to build one closer to the Fortress." The news that the Order of Voln was not indeed founded by Lord Fasthr k'Tafali was indeed a shock to many people present. "The Order of Voln is an old and honored organization with a long history. The Order was founded in the year 1300 by Lord Fasthr k'Tafali. Lord Fasthr was the Manor Lord of an outlying province of the Kannalan Empire," says a monk of the Wehnimerian Chapter of Voln. When asked about the news of the Elven Connection, he had no further comment. "Um... I-I don't know what to believe any more," says Alanark, a new apprentice of the order. "Um... I didn't realize Voln was so p-p-p-political. My m-master I'm apprenticing under told me to j-join." Alanark adjusted his pointy wizard's hat, walked off, and proceeded to stumble and fall flat on his face. We overheard the hooded guard say, "They're accepting everyone these days..." as he gazed up towards the heavens. Earlier that night, the Fortress city was rocked by a massive invasion of creatures from the Feathyl bog. Hundreds of Bog spectres, bog wights, and warrior shades flooded Fearling Pass, and had advanced all the way to the Amaranth Gate, where they were halted by defenders of the Fortress City, under the leadership of Captain Ponter of the Crimson Ravens. Several of us folded in with Ponter's unit, as we proceeded to systematically annihilate every undead creature from the City Gates to the Ferry across the lake of Fear. The reason for this latest undead uprising was to disrupt the construction of the monestary. They planned on desecrating the holy land the new fortress rests upon. Theradose, a cleric of Eonak, was one such person blasting the undead to oblivion. "I was just blowing up undead left and right. I didn't realize why they were there," he said when asked for a comment. "High Priest Vitharyl kept mentioning stuff about protecting the sacred grounds. We were then instructed to protect him and hold off the undead while he performed this ritual." When asked what he thought of the Monestary, he said "I like the Wehnimer's Monastery better. I was told the monastery has not yet completed construction. I did find the Master's Hall though, which had a tapestry and globe." In weeks to come, the new Monestary in Ta'Vaalor will be visited and blessed by each of the Arkati of the Pantheon of Liabo. Will the insidious troublemakers of the Dark Alliance come and try to disrupt things? Will the Undead Scourge attempt to strike the monestary again? Have we seen the last of the Dark Alliance Sieges of the Elven Nations? Unfortunately, only time will tell. -Ashrim Mage Captain Aetheri Machtes

~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ MARKET MADNESS! ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ Dateline: Day 27th of Koaratos, 5104: Wehnimer's Landing While I'm reporting here from the cluttered street of Wehimer's Landing, the epidemic I'm about to uncover is in actuality, spreading over all of Elanthia like jam on a halfling's breadroll. Wehnimer's Landing, Solhaven, Icemule Trace, Ta Illistim, you name it, the citizens are up in arms! Or is it, armories? You see, this week, a handful of Elanthian cities premiered their new expanded grounds! With those grounds, came the issuing of shop permits to any citizen worthy of one! It wasn't long before shops were springing up left and right with adventurers and retired heroes stocking their shelves throughout the night! One might think this is just what a city needs, right? It seems the mass opening of shops hasn't been met with enthusiasm by everyone. Some of the older established merchants within the cities have openly expressed their concerns while some have done it more secretly. Aznell Coussant has been quoted saying, "Just when I finally released some new inventory into my store, everyone begins flocking to the east side of the Landing for the new stores! It's not right I tell ya, it's not right." A retired hero turned merchant by day in Solhaven went on record saying, "Now everyone isn't advertising their merchandise on the amulet. Now they re all advertising their shops! Do you realize how much walking that is? Do you realize I have a peg leg?" Perhaps the mass hysteria of the newly opened shops will eventually die down and business can return to normal for the likes of Aznell and other established merchants while still keeping a good balance with the new would-be merchants of our fair cities. Until then, dwarves will continue to grumble, elves will continue to whine and crystal amulets will continue to overflow trash barrels throughout the city. -Grums Strumsbelly - Scholar of Biblia

~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ MERCHANT WILL WORK FOR ENTERPRISING READERS ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ Dateline: Day 14 of Phoenatos, 5104: The merchant Eilemay is traveling the lands this next Volnes, day 16 of Phoenatos. She specializes in Aelotoi handicrafts and is willing to work for the first ten customers who find her. When asked about her whereabouts, she declined to answer, instead reciting this cryptic poem. Slowly meandering through the strand Light barely penetrates this tiny wasteland. Insects hover, their droning sounds a mournful tune. The gloom never lifts, not at brightest high noon. Herpetologists know of this area, but few others do. Enterprising skinners perhaps, in search of a coup Reptilian hissing their hunting cue. Comes to this place, a merchant forlorn Ragged, weary, her face drawn and worn. Eilemay her name, plying her raft Even and steady, she works her simple craft Knive-like it darts to shelter out of the draft.
