The Mystic Defense Roll (MDR) is a maneuver-like combat system created by GM Auchand.

The attacker's strength is based off of either a pre-set attack power (usually based on level, but not necessarily). The power of the attack is significantly boosted if the initiator is higher leveled than the defender.

All MDRs make use of factors like defender level and stat bonuses for Logic, Intuition, Influence, and Constitution for defense.

For Elemental Attacks: Defenses are boosted by Aura bonus, EMC ranks, Elemental Lore ranks, and some spells. For Mental Attacks: Discipline bonus, MMC ranks, Mental Lore ranks, and some spells. Spiritual Attacks: Wisdom bonus, SMC ranks, Spiritual or Sorcerer lores (whichever's better), and some spells.

Some MDR attacks, like Skillblast, are generic.
