Overview
Game commands are shown in CAPS.
How to ask for help
You can speak locally or reach the thought net, find Mentors, and meet players in central hubs.
'Say Hello! SAY hello ESP TUNE HELP ESP TUNE HELP THINK Hello, I have a question! THINK TO JOHN Hi! THINK ON HELP Can someone help me, please? DIR TOWN SQUARE DIR SILVERWOOD MANOR RING bell DISCORD
- **Help/OOC/Merchant** channels are fine for questions; **General** is in-character.
- **Mentors:** Use Template:Code then Template:Code to call for one.
- **Town center:** Template:Code to find other adventurers.
- **Discord:** Template:Code joins the official server (there’s a Help channel).
How should I build my character?
Most imaginative builds can work; some are easier than others.
Stats
- Stats depend on race/profession and grow with levels.
- Aim to hit 100s around level 100 (avoid capping too early).
- You can change your stats up to **5** times before level 20.
- To optimize, use a calculator (e.g., https://www.nitefallz.com/) or ask for help.
- Common approaches:
- Optimize for level 19, then swap to a longer-term spread.
- Optimize for ~70 and plan a fixstat potion (~15m silver) for level-100 spreads.
- Optimize directly for level 100 and “set and forget.”
Skills
- You can freely respec skills until level 20.
- Getting started:
- Use defaults from character creation.
- Read your profession’s.
- Ask on the ESP Help channel or in profession Discords.
- For bounties (skinning/bandits/search/herbs): Perception ×1–2, First Aid ×1–2, Survival ×1.
How should I manage my items?
Keep encumbrance low; travel light.
SET SORTED ON STOW SET BACKPACK STOW ITEM STOW RIGHT STOW LEFT
- Don’t carry extra armor sets, piles of skins, or heavy quartz orbs.
- Early necessities: 1–2 big containers (cloak/backpack), armor, weapon, and (if used) shield.
How do I kill things?
Understand stances, roundtime, and your attack options.
KILL (target) STANCE D STANCE O STANCE ADV INCANT 1700 WEAP LIST SHIELD LIST QSTRIKE -3 (target) MSTRIKE GLD FEAT
- **STANCE D** (defensive): max DS; common for casters early.
- **STANCE O** (offensive): max AS.
- **STANCE ADV**: balanced for physicals.
- If roundtime exceeds ~5–6 seconds, lighten your load.
How do I level up?
Quick boosts
- Do the introductory quest.
- Visit local Template:Code landmarks for one-time EXP.
- Some NPCs (e.g., Thraak in Wehnimer’s Landing) give an intro Q&A → EXP.
- Deliver messages for town bondsmen for silver/EXP.
Hunting loop
- Kill in the wilds, then rest in town to absorb Field EXP faster on nodes (taverns, town centers).
- Check progress with Template:Code.
Bounties
ASK TASK FOR BOUNTY ASK (name) FOR BOUNTY BOUNTY ASK TASK TO REMOVE BOUNTY
- Complete the task, return, and Template:Code again for EXP, silver, and bounty points.
Advanced options (later)
- Reim, Open Seas Adventures, empath healing, cleric resurrection (post-18).
Early combat tips
- Strong early weapon bases:
- Two-handed: claidhmore
- UAC: gloves + boots
- Edged: falchion, longsword, handaxe, katana, short sword (ambush)
- Blunt: morning star, mace (ambush)
- Ranged: longbow, heavy crossbow
- Polearm: naginata
- Drake weapons flare with fire; great early pick.
- Enchant adds directly to AS (weapons) or DS (runestaves/shields/armor).
- Common material bonuses:
- Mithril +5
- Ora +10
- Imflass +12 (light)
- Glaes +15 (heavy)
- Vultite +20
- Level requirement ≈ half the bonus (rounded up): 3/5/6/8/10 respectively.
- Ask around for spares or check pawnshops.
Buffs & wands
- Many players (especially wizards) will spell you for up to ~4 hours.
THINK ON HELP Can anyone please provide some spells? THINK ON GENERAL Can anyone please provide some spells? DIR TOWN SQUARE
- Primary attack spells by profession (look up by number):
- Cleric: 302
- Sorcerer: 702
- Wizard: 901, 904, 903 (after 20 ranks Elemental Lore—Fire)
- Empath: 1106; weave in 1101 and 1700 to conserve mana
- Helpful wands: twisted (sorc/empath/cleric), gold, glass, aquamarine, metal, slender blue (wizard).
I got injured or died!
- **Injured:** go to town center; ask an empath to heal you.
- **Dead:** ask for rescue on Help—someone will bring you in, then a cleric can raise you.
THINK ON HELP I'm dead, can someone please rescue me?
What else is fun?
- Check the play.net calendar for daily official events.
- Explore Elanthia’s many regions and towns; socialize and roleplay.
- Use services and shops:
SERVICE SHOP DIR
- Browse player shops: https://ps.lichproject.org/
- Group up for bounties, Grimswarm warcamps, Reim, or repeatable quests (e.g., Black Swan Castle).
- Sample non-combat systems: artisan crafts (EXP), forging, cobbling, fletching, fishing, bird-watching, bug-catching, knitting, jewelry-making, spirit beasts (EXP), siegery miniatures, professional guilds, and player Houses.
