:Maelstrom, sandstorm, torment, nightmare, tremors... I think that yes, buildup and damage over time are unique categories from instantaneous. Also, I like Area of Effect as a row label, though that's really long for a floating table like this. Room and multi-room seem like great categories. Method should be changed to Type. Targets should be changed to Area of Effect, with the Area of Effect target type being changed to Room and Multi-area being changed to Multi-room. Interval seems unnecessary entirely, as the majority of spells would be classified as instantaneous, the only spell I that I can think of falling under build-up being Fervent Reproach (312) and very few spells that might fall under damage over time. Maelstrom, sandstorm, torment, nightmare, tremors... I think that yes, buildup and damage over time are unique categories from instantaneous.
