Creature egg/nautilus

One of the pets that hatch from the eggs, nautiluses are nautical beings that distribute a quill once every four days when PINCHed that can be used for writing.

LOOK

Similar in size to a small halfling's fist, the nautilus's shell forms most of its bulk.  For the most part it resembles the empty nautilus shells one might find washed up on any beach.  However, the pair of wings which protrude from the center of the shell's spiral, and which disrupt the normal whorl of secreted shell-material, would appear more at home sprouting from the shoulders of one of several species of diminutive finch.  Additionally, the shell's striations are particularly beautiful and range between what one might expect to see on a tiger-striped and an opal-shelled nautilus.
