Given that Cestimir was the ruling Patriarch during the exile, he was the first to encounter the severe cultural backlash towards the other Elven Houses. The exiled Faendryl began deliberately using words in a manner opposite of their original meaning, simply out of spite for the Elven language. He encouraged this practice in order to boost the self-esteem of his people, and to help them on their way to distinguishing themselves from their historical brethren. This twisting of meaning, over the centuries, eventually resulted in what is now known as the Faendryl language.
