Claidhmore

A claidhmore is an especially massive variant of the two-handed sword. Its enormous bulk provides natural critical weighting to the weapon, making the claidhmore the weapon of choice of many warriors.

Game Mechanics

Claidhmores are on the high end of the damaging weapons in the Two-Handed Weapons skill. In addition, they provide a decent amount of critical damage to those who are on the receiving end of the weapon.

The main differences between old-style and new-style claidhmores are that old-style has a -10 AS (thus a laen claidhmore would be 3x - 2x = 1x) and (versus new-style) a +10 AvD. These factors essentially even out. Additionally new-style claidhmores lends a higher DS to many stances, but has a lower damage factor against plate armors.
