Doomsday Prophecy
[Icemule Trace, Town Center] The bustling town comes together in this square. Halflings dressed in varying fashions stand about. One ancient halfling leans against the base of the large ice statue of a mule, snoring blissfully. You also see the Ethgard disk, the Ziram disk, the Ishator disk and a carved ice bench with some stuff on it. Also here: Thedwar (sitting), Lord Kaeynne, Raervin, Ethgard, Jube (sitting), Tedrick, Machi, Urutei, Lord Dhustbytr (kneeling), Pugsy (sitting), Svardin (prone), Ziram (sitting), Ishator, Olesia (sitting), Vivil (sitting), Merylla (kneeling), Leanneo Obvious paths: north, east, south, west Urutei says in Giantman, "The Ice comes... soon. I would not have this city be defenseless." You see Urutei Meigeath the Mystic. She appears to be a Giantman of the Arctic Clan. She appears to be of full age and very tall. She has dark-rimmed stormy grey eyes and lily white skin. She has long, shaggy jet black hair. She has a gaunt face and broad shoulders. She is in good shape. She is wearing some owl feather hair decorations tipped with blue glass beads, a shaggy white arctic wolf hide mantle, a blue-streaked snowy cockatrice feather talisman, a blue-beaded white leather vest, a wide white leather belt edged with blue glass beads, a spotted snowcat hide pouch, some fur-lined white leather trousers, and some calf-high rugged boots trimmed with owl feathers. You deeply ask in Giantman, "Wut defense cood we use?" You cock your head at Urutei. Urutei turns to face you. Urutei says in Giantman, "Only the Path of the Sky can save us, kinsman." Raervin whispers, "Urutei says in Giantman, "If you will gather those who would hear, and translate for me... I would be glad of it." Urutei says in Giantman, "I will go north, to where the Ice travels... and speak of it there." Urutei just went north. [Icemule Trace, North Gate] Several well-armed guards stand to either side of a hole in the glacier. People wander in and out of the opening, which apparantly serves as a gate to the town. Within the ice you can see the faint shadow of what once must have been the actual gates. However, the glacier has devoured it over time, and the resourceful halflings have taken advantage of the natural wall created by the ice. You also see the Duffield disk and an old beer barrel. Also here: Duffield, Starna, Raervin, Urutei Obvious paths: south, west Raervin softly says in Giantman, "she said its a gate" Urutei says in Giantman, "You are, and I see it in you. But I would not have you die, or any of these littles, when there is that which may be saved." You deeply ask in Giantman, "Will der ba sign o de gate afore it opens?" Urutei says in Giantman, "I have been blessed by the Snow Owl, who has come to me to teach me visions of what will come." Urutei says in Giantman, "People THINK this is a gate. But it is not a gate. It is the beginning of the end, for all that is in Elanith, will be as what is beyond this gate, soon." Urutei points at a hole in the glacier. Urutei crosses her arms as she leans against the natural wall of the ice. Urutei tilts back her head to look up at the comet shimmering through the sky. Raervin softly asks in Giantman, "we need to go through the opening, m'lady?" Urutei says in Giantman, "No... no, it is only an example." Urutei looks over at Raervin and shakes her head. Urutei says in Giantman, "The Path of the Sky is not a physical path, or a way of life, or a ritual... but all three." Urutei lifts a hand toward the sky, pointing to the comet. You deeply ask in Giantman, "Yas kin show de way fer us te foller Urutei?" Urutei says in Giantman, "This is the first sign... the rift in the Sky begins to open." Urutei says in Giantman, "The Ice is going to go South...." Raervin softly asks in Giantman, "that be the light..the blue light yas spoke of?" Urutei says in Giantman, "Let me begin from the beginning, or this will all be confused." Urutei fingers her cockatrice feather talisman for a moment as she gazes up at the comet. Urutei takes a deep breath. Urutei says in Giantman, "When I first saw the comet... I dreamed of it. I did not see it in life, but in a dream, and a snow owl showed it to me." Urutei says in Giantman, "When I awoke, the owl was outside... and she hooted three times, and bade me look up in the sky, and there was the blue rift again." Urutei says in Giantman, "By this sign, I knew that what she had to say was true." Urutei says in Giantman, "When I saw the owl at this time, it was purest white, with only silver speckles on the tips of its feathers, and eyes as green as the greenest pine needles." Urutei says in Giantman, "She bade me know that the Ice would go South, and that all would be consumed, save what was part of the Sky." Urutei says in Giantman, "She bade me know that the Path of the Sky was the only way to survive, but she did not teach me of the Path... she only said that I would know, when the time was right." Raervin softly asks in Giantman, "yas think this will happen here in Mule, M'lady?" Urutei says in Giantman, "More has been revealed to me." Urutei turns to face Raervin. Urutei says in Giantman, "In Icemule... and everywhere." Urutei says in Giantman, "The will of the Ice is to consume." Urutei says in Giantman, "South, the Ice will march, and, where Ice has come, nothing but Ice will remain... until all of Elanith has vanished beneath its power." Urutei points at the natural ice wall. Urutei says in Giantman, "This...." Urutei says in Giantman, "Will move..." Urutei sweeps her hand slowly through the air. Urutei says in Giantman, "Nothing will remain of this city... or any other." Urutei points up. Urutei says in Giantman, "The nature of the Sky is to remain." Urutei says in Giantman, "When Ice has destroyed all, still the Sky shall be... and only that which is of the Sky may survive, when Ice has come." Urutei says in Giantman, "A rift is opening in the Sky." You deeply ask in Giantman, "Wut mor hab ye lernt o how to git inte de sky?" Urutei tilts back her head to gaze at the comet as she points upward. Urutei says in Giantman, "Wait, and I will tell you." Urutei nods to you. Urutei somberly says in Giantman, "When Ice and Sky are all that there are, then the Sky will purify the Ice." Urutei somberly says in Giantman, "The rift in the Sky shall open fully, and a cleansing light shall come from the rift in the Sky." Urutei says in Giantman, "If anything lives beneath the Sky, it will be cleansed of mind and volition and soul, and all that is there, will be part of the Ice." Urutei says in Giantman, "All beneath the Sky will be of one nature." Elangle asks in Giantman, "Where do you propose we should be when this happens?" Urutei says in Giantman, "Wait... and I shall tell." Urutei nods to Elangle. Urutei says in Giantman, "All beneath the Sky will be part of the Ice, because the Ice has one nature." Urutei says in Giantman, "But the Sky has many essences within one nature." Urutei says in Giantman, "Stars, clouds, sun, moons... all these things dwell in the Sky, and they are not destroyed." Urutei says in Giantman, "But the Sky has many essences within one nature." Urutei says in Giantman, "Within the Sky, mortals may be preserved, by following the Path of the Sky." Urutei says in Giantman, "At first, I did not understand what the Owl meant by this." Urutei says in Giantman, "Her words were confusing to me, and she came only briefly, and she came only when it was dark and I was dazed...." Urutei says in Giantman, "But she came again, last night, and she made things known to me more clearly." Urutei says in Giantman, "As she spoke to me, the feathers on her body changed..." Urutei says in Giantman, "Before, she was purest white, speckled with silver, with eyes like jade." Urutei says in Giantman, "Then, as she spoke, many of the feathers on her body shifted in hue." Urutei says in Giantman, "Some became grey, like steel... some as red as fire... some black as night... and some remained silver-speckled, but were faintly tinged with blue." Urutei says in Giantman, "And, as she spoke, she said that the Path of the Sky was threefold..." Urutei holds up three fingers. Urutei says in Giantman, "The Path of the Sky is the way to speed the opening of the rift." Urutei lowers one finger. Urutei says in Giantman, "The Path of the Sky is the way to prepare to ascend into the Sky." Urutei lowers another finger. Urutei says in Giantman, "And the Path of the Sky is the physical act of moving from Elanith into the Sky." Urutei closes her fingers entirely and drops her hand. You deeply ask in Giantman, "All folk must go inte de sky te escape de ice?" Urutei says in Giantman, "She said to me, 'Follow the Path of the Sky as you complete the Path of the Sky, and the Path of the Sky will open... and all who follow, if all are enough, will be saved.'" Urutei nods to you. Urutei says in Giantman, "And she made it known to me that strength matters. There will be one chance to ascend to the Sky, and one alone... and, if there are not enough to follow, then all will be lost." Urutei slowly empties her lungs. Urutei says in Giantman, "Therefore, I must spread word of the Path, and as many as possible must be brought to the Path." You deeply ask in Giantman, "Anyun left in Elanthia will die at this time?" Urutei nods to you. Raervin softly says in Giantman, "they ask how they can get to the Sky, m'lady" Urutei nods to Raervin. Aegin asks in Giantman, "Where is the strength to gather to attemt passage into the sky?" Urutei says in Giantman, "The Snow Owl gave me these things, but spoke only briefly yet of how people may prepare and begin to walk the Path." Raervin softly says in Giantman, "we must learn the Path" Urutei says in Giantman, "These are the things she told me of the Path." Urutei says in Giantman, "Whoever walks the Path must know that the Path has an end. When the time for the Sky comes, all that is of this world must be left behind." Urutei says in Giantman, "Whoever walks the Path must seek to bring others to it, for the Path cannot be completed by one or two alone." Urutei says in Giantman, "And whoever walks the Path must mark themselves with the signs of the Sky, to begin the transition...." Urutei says in Giantman, "Then Liabo set as dawn slipped into the sky, and the Snow Owl was gone." Urutei says in Giantman, "I meditated and sought peace within myself, and then I came here, to spread the word." Raervin softly asks in Giantman, "we will be marked?" Urutei asks in Giantman, "Would you join me on the Path, and survive the coming of the Ice?" You nod to Urutei. Raervin raises her hand. Urutei looks gravely at you. Raervin softly says in Giantman, "I would M'lady" Urutei nods quietly. Urutei just opened a spotted snowcat hide pouch. Raervin curtsies to Urutei. Urutei withdraws a slender bone needle from her pouch. Raervin softly asks in Giantman, "yas will tell us more? when yas find out?" You deeply say in Giantman, "De way an de time is wut we need know Urutei." Urutei says in Giantman, "When I know more, I will tell you." Raervin beams happily at Urutei! You deeply say in Giantman, "See ifn de owl does know dat." Urutei says in Giantman, "The time..." Urutei says in Giantman, "If I understand fully... the time is brought by those who bring it... but it must come before the Ice, and it comes only once." Urutei continues to gaze silently up at the comet. Urutei shakes off her brief reverie as she lowers her gaze from the comet. Urutei nods to Raervin. Urutei says in Giantman, "If you will follow the Path, kinswoman..." Urutei says in Giantman, "Sit, and I will place the mark upon you." Urutei sits down. Raervin nods. Raervin sits down. Urutei softly says in Giantman, "This will only hurt for a moment. I promise." Urutei leans forward. Urutei picks up a sizeable needle and carefully dips it into a jar of ink. With measured movements, she punctures Raervin's skin, driving the ink into the flesh. Raervin softly says in Giantman, "I will follow the Path" Urutei carefully inspects her work on Raervin's neck before nodding. You deeply ask in Giantman, "Kin yas git te de sky wifout de mark?" You cock your head at Urutei. Raervin traces the lines of her tribal tattoo. Raervin beams! Raervin softly says in Giantman, "thank yas, M'lady" Raervin softly says in Giantman, "i will try to my best, to be true" Urutei says in Giantman, "In order to enter the Sky, all must seek to show to the Sky that they are part of the Sky...." Urutei says in Giantman, "The Owl gave me five patterns, and gave me to know their significance." Urutei says in Giantman, "The pattern she bears is the pattern of the Speaker... one of my kin who will spread the word." Urutei stands up. Urutei stands in front of you. Urutei asks in Giantman, "Will you walk the Path, and spread the word?" You deeply say in Giantman, "I need no mark to do wut must be don Urutei..." You deeply say in Giantman, "I will help fer de sake of all...tis my way in truth." Urutei says in Giantman, "The strands of fate are woven in the world..." Urutei says in Giantman, "The ice is a strand... the sun is a strand... the moon is a strand... all the lives here, are strands of this web..." Urutei says in Giantman, "Only the Owl, flying so high, can see it clearly now." You nod to Urutei. Urutei says in Giantman, "Patterns of flesh, patterns of garb, and other patterns, can help to align these strands..." Urutei says in Giantman, "It is why rune-divination works." Urutei says in Giantman, "Because the runes are made and marked to align with these strands of fate." Urutei says in Giantman, "If you refuse this, I will not mark you, but you draw yourself away from the Path by refusing." Urutei takes a few steps back. Urutei says in Giantman, "If there are others here who would follow and spread the Path, and be saved from the coming of the Ice... let them come forward." You deeply say in Giantman, "I am pledged to another path....if bofe go the same way...then I will follow." Riyann says, "what does being marked mean? i don't understand" Urutei regretfully says in Giantman, "Then, you are lost, unless those two paths align." You deeply say in Giantman, "May Kai make it so..." You nod to Urutei. Elangle says in Giantman, "I would come forward in that light, however I have been left with doubt after your words of the Path." Urutei regretfully says in Giantman, "When the Ice comes... there will be nothing but the Ice and the Sky." Urutei quietly says in Giantman, "Most likely, He will not." Urutei quietly says in Giantman, "He is too much of this world." You deeply say, "If you take the mark you will be known as one who spreads the werd." Urutei says in Giantman, "The Ice is as great as a Drake." Urutei turns to face Elangle. Riyann says, "well i hardly understand what the word is" Urutei asks in Giantman, "What more do you need to know?" Urutei says in Giantman, "The Owl made it clearer to me." Elangle asks in Giantman, "I would like to know the specifics of the "transition", however you wouldn't know that as of yet, would you?" Urutei says in Giantman, "Only those who cannot stand aside from this world will be destroyed... only the ones who cannot go into the Sky." Urutei says in Giantman, "All of this world will be left behind, save your physical self and that which is of the Sky already..." Urutei says in Giantman, "And you will physically walk into the rift, along the Path of the Sky." Urutei points upward at the comet shimmering in the sky. Elangle says in Giantman, "I can stand aside, but for a limited time." Urutei says in Giantman, "When the Ice has claimed dominion, then its time will end." Urutei asks in Giantman, "Have you ever seen a rock fall from the sky?" Elangle nods to Urutei. Urutei says in Giantman, "Even as those rocks return to this world, we shall return... but on wings of spirit and flesh alike, that we are not harmed by the coming." Urutei says in Giantman, "After the Ice has been cleansed." Urutei says in Giantman, "After the Ice begins to recede." Urutei says in Giantman, "When the world is fit for living again, cleansed and remade pure." Urutei says in Giantman, "If there is any other who would begin the Path, today, step forward and speak." Aegin asks in Giantman, "Should I decide to join what part would you have my play?" Urutei says in Giantman, "I would bid you to spread word of the Path... to wear the signs of the Path... and to follow it as the Snow Owl reveals it." Urutei says in Giantman, "But it does not take my blessing to follow it." Urutei says in Giantman, "The Owl bade me know that I would not be the only one who learned of such things..." Urutei says in Giantman, "Only the first." Raervin softly asks in Giantman, "yet we need the sign upon us?" Aegin says in Giantman, "You said before, that there were different symbols, different parts to play." Urutei nods to Aegin. Urutei says in Giantman, "She bid me know five signs..." Urutei says in Giantman, "But I do not know all of their significances, yet." Urutei says in Giantman, "Only two." Urutei says in Giantman, "One for those who will spread the word." Urutei says in Giantman, "And one for those who follow, but do not spread." Aegin asks in Giantman, "And then there are three marks with which you do not know their task?" Urutei nods to Aegin. Urutei says in Giantman, "One was a pattern of feathers...." Urutei traces the fingers of her left hand around each eye, then runs her fingers down her cheek. Urutei says in Giantman, "A mask of the Sky." Urutei says in Giantman, "One was a pattern of swirling lines..." Urutei runs her hand over her arm, tracing a brief pattern there. Urutei says in Giantman, "And one was a pair of wings, bound into flesh, to help bind the flesh into the Sky." Urutei says in Giantman, "From the shoulderblades to the base of the spine." Urutei says in Giantman, "I do not know the meanings, yet, but I know they will be revealed to me." Urutei put a slender blue-dyed bone needle in her snowcat hide pouch. Urutei kneels down. Urutei dips her hand into her snowcat hide pouch, withdraws a handful of rune-carved pebbles, and scatters them across the ground. The pebbles roll and bump into one another before coming to rest in a zig-zagging arrangement of scattered stones. After only a glance, Urutei scoops up all but the pebble nearest to her and pours the small stones back into her pouch. Urutei picks up a small grey rune-carved pebble. Urutei glances at a small grey rune-carved pebble. Urutei smiles faintly before glancing back up at the sky. Urutei just closed a spotted snowcat hide pouch. Urutei stands up. Urutei offers you a small grey rune-carved pebble. Urutei says in Giantman, "Pray you make your decision soon." You accept Urutei's offer and are now holding a small grey rune-carved pebble. Urutei says in Giantman, "I will return to my meditations, now. Spread the word..." Urutei softly says in Giantman, "Life is too precious for all of it to be lost." Urutei bows to Raervin. Urutei bows to you. Urutei just went south. A series of Saramar runes have been carved across the surface of the pebble. There appears to be something written on it. It reads: SNOW
