But for the first time in my life, I felt……small. I was tongue tied and awkward. How could I be in this room with all these legends? There were and are Squires in this room that have great reputations. |

Part of our charge is “To protect those who cannot protect themselves”.Those words hit home with me. I want to be part of something bigger than the individual.I want to do more than sit around town square and listen to my own voice. |

Recently I learned the meaning of Largess and am working every day to be a better example of that. |

I am not a poet nor a great teller of tales. I’m a simple Giantman who thinks Rolton chops are a delicacy. |

Like Many Giantmen Ox was born of the T’Kirem Clan. We were anchored in the Dragonspine Mountain’s at the time of my youth. As Sir Guarrin and Sir Geijon can attest we were also called the “Bear Clan” due to our first chieftain Kiremgrea’s likeness to those big furry huggable beasts who left me this scar over my eye during my trial of manhood.
Now for starters the name Oxhammer is not birth given. His birth name was Njal which is very common in his clan as it means “giant”. But I’m told because of my size and affection for hanging around the forge me Modir and Fadir started calling me Oxhammer from a very early age and it stuck.
Thankfully I wasn’t the runt of the litter who liked knives or you would have a” Kobolddagger” standing before you.
I have no sad stories to tell of my youth. I was well loved by both my parents. My Fadir was a brave and heroic Warrior who fought in many battles and lived to tell… and me Modir who was small for giant kin was fierce but always a hug away. I spent many a winter hunting in the mountains with my Fadir who taught me how to wield my weapon from a very young age and many winter nights listening to me Modir sing songs of days gone by.
Although me parents did not “worship” any of the gods my Fadir was a follower of Eonak for two reasons he explained.
First because he was a craftsman who loved to forge. Second and what I believe is the main reason is that Eonak personifies success won by hard work rather than natural gifts alone. I also am a firm believer of these traits and for that reason I too choose to follow Eonak.
After passing my trial of manhood I stayed in the mountains for a bit but decided it was time to see what else was out in this world. My travels took me south to the town of Ta’vallor in the Elven nations where I got my first taste of many different races, cultures AND elven bread, ale and weaponry. All of which are made from the highest quality ingredients. I met a dark elf warrior there by the name of Cobham many years ago. He was the first Elven warrior I had met and although small in statue (isn’t everyone to us Giantmen) he were a cunning and sometimes viscous fighter who taught me many a skill in weapon wielding.
from there my journeys took me back north to the snowy town of Ice Mule Trace which remains close to my heart as I spent much of my middle years there as I feel most home in the cold. I rekindled my desire to learn more about forging weapons and have spent many an hour in their cold forge rooms.
But I was always told the finest warriors and craftsmen and women lived in the big town of Wehnimer’s landing and knew I had to someday travel through the land of the Frost giants and Artic titans to get there.
So, I continued to train my hammer and shield until I felt ready to make the trip and you know what?
They ain’t so bad!
As a matter of fact, ah stayed in the tundra to rob those so called “giants” of all their boxes and gems before I finally ventured into the landing with a nice new Skull Crusher and Vultite Shield thanks to the “generosity” of those walking icebergs.
eventually I arrived in the landing. I was amazed by how many towns folk there were in Wehnimer’s, the sheer number of shops, homes, houses made my big noggin spin like a top.
It was also the firs time I saw a ‘rolton” ..dey are cute little buggers and someday If I ever have a homestead I will have a herd of them as they are very tasty.
As I trained further, I was invited to join the Warrior guild and the order of Voln. I was recently promoted to Guild master and am also a Master of Voln. But I was still a lost soul. I had few true friends and no mentors like me Fadir. As fate would have it one day while struggling with armor fittins at the warrior guild I ran into Sir Cryheart Thaxin.
Now the name was not foreign to me as my ole friend Cobham told me of some honorable warriors in the landing that he knew way back when. Sir Cryheart (who was just a regular old warrior before we became a mighty knight) also knew of Cobham.
As Sir Cryheart and I struggled with the fitting for my armor he told me of The Order of Silver Gryphons which I knew nothing about. He explained they were in charge of protecting the landing and its people in time of trouble. Which is A LOT these days.
He asked if I would like to attend a meeting so I cleaned me self-up as best I could and went to this beautiful Hold we have here.As I was meeting Sir Cryheart in town square to be escorted to the Hold I was thinking to myself “if me Fadir and Modir could see me now. Going to a meeting with Sir Cryheart Thaxin” they wouldn’t believe me and think I was deep into the Stout again.
When I arrived, I met MANY a famous warrior who I heard tales of sitting round a campfire drinking an ale. Sir Guarrin, Sir Geijon, Sir Goldstr, Sir Shirkon, Sir Ballantine, Dame Deavon, Dame Evia to name a few.
I met the Master Forger Lord Khazaann whose weapons are known all over the lands and he has helped me greatly with my craft..
I was truly amazed and awed to be in the same room with them.
