Jasper is an opaque form of quartz which comes in several colors.

a cone of ember jasper

Description:   Tumbled smooth and wreathed in luminous red, the ember jasper is conical in shape and resembles a flicking flame sheathed in amber. Dazzling oranges are woven through with slender shards of yellow at the piece's heart, while the exterior transitions through the red shades to a pale, translucent cinnamon hue.

Description:   The cabochon jasper is predominantly a hearty, verdant green, but strident oranges and sparking golds form whorls that complicate the darker color. Along one side, an especially large whorl resembles a large, unblinking eye.

Description:   Tumbled smooth and wreathed in luminous indigo, the peacock jasper houses a web of delicate ebon hues that blend with mottled purples and blues. Tiny fissures, worn down by age, display the lustrous heart of the nodule to be a dazzling shade of lustrous green.

Description:   Mottled with dark rosettes, the leopard jasper has a tumbled finish that is silky smooth. Though uniformly brown the dark pigments that speckle is surface range in color from umber to sepia and olive to ebon.

Description:   Tumbled smooth and wreathed in luminous blue, the lunar jasper houses a web of delicate minty hues that blend into paler shades. Tiny fissures, worn down by age, display the lustrous heart of the ovoid to be a dazzling shade of sea foam green.

Description:   Orbs in vivid shades of yellow and red blossom amidst dots of green on a white background. The crackle-patterned surface of the orbicular jasper is smooth with rounded edges.

Description:   Irregular in shape, the black jasper is mostly rough, with a few lightly polished spots. The stone is a deep, flat black, unrelieved by variances in shade or hue.
