Roundabout Racers

[Roundabout Racers -]
Merrily decorated with miniature woodworked cutouts of knight, castle, sword, and shield models coated in garishly shimmering paint, the space is crowded but also bright and lively. Small wooden pens and roofless barns sized at a low height are spread over the ground, each populated with lifeless mechanical toy equines and roltons, though a handful gallop around, respectively neighing and bleating plaintively and occasionally running into the sides of the pen, barn, and one another.
Obvious exits: out

In the wooden pens you see: a toy green-on-gold velvet horse, a toy platinum-tailed red rolton, a platinum and gold-hooved steed, a toy stag-branded mare, a toy lion-maned scarlet rolton, a toy stag-horned golden rolton and a toy lion-branded horse.

This horse is a mechanical racing toy that may be altered by a talented merchant. Racing toys come in two varieties: roltons (the original) and horses. This particular racing toy is a: horse. Alterations require that it must remain a toy horse, with "horse", "steed", "mare", "stallion", or "pony" (no Mhorgian ponies, shadow steeds, shadow mares, or nightmares, though!) as the noun, and the word "toy" MUST be included in the article (or adjective) field.

You can DROP and GET the green-on-gold horse. To attune it to yourself, HUG it. Once you do that, only you can start it racing or pick it up. To unattune it, PINCH it. To wind up the horse, TURN it while it is in your hands, and to start it on its merry way once it is on the ground, NUDGE it.
