Pinned and Pleated

[Pinned and Pleated - 8212342]
Exposed rafters line the roof of the cabin, the constant creak and roll of the ship causing various hangings to sway and the sound of creaking to slip through the balmy air. Rolled and bound to a support post is an off-white and navy blue hammock, which leaves room for a trio of mannequins to be displayed between copper-ringed portholes. Tidy shelves dominate the one solid wall and are filled with tidily folded pieces of fabric, bowls filled with pins, and baskets of cording. You also see a woven river reed basket and a tidily penned parchment framed in oak.
Obvious exits: out

In the Common language, it reads:
Welcome to Pinned and Pleated, home of the Kraet's most versatile garment.

The Chiton

A tunic made from a single piece of artfully folded cloth, the chiton drapes at the shoulders, creating sleeves with the proper placement of pins along shoulder and arm. Initially simple in both material and design, today's chiton runs the gamut from the simple to the exquisite, and much emphasis is placed by some Kraet on the designs of the primary shoulder pins.

In the river reed basket you see: a splended silk thread.

On the cotton worker figure you see: a madder red-waisted linen chiton with brooch-pinned woad blue sleeves and a small note at its feet.

a small note at its feet
In the Common language, it reads:
Style 3 - Worker
Multiple pins between the two pieces of fabric form sleeves in this garment, which helps with protecting the skin from the sun and keeping the flesh covered from jungle and coastal insects. The overall loose design allows for the free movement of air through the garment and allows sweat to escape, keeping the wearer cool during the work day.

On the linen observer figure you see: a copper-pinned black silk chiton topped in a thistle-patterned overlay and a small note at its feet.

a small note at its feet
In the Common language, it reads:
Style 2 - Observer
Elegant folds and decorative pinning turn this chiton into a garment worn while entertaining or in casual company. The fabric is typically edged in a knotwork or scrollwork design or patterned with abstract designs, which once worn fall along the lower edges of the elegant overlay. Unlike the Gladiator style, this garment's edges are left loose and flowing to display that the wearer is comfortable and unafraid of challenge or attack.

On the silk gladiator figure you see: a cameo-pinned gorse yellow cotton chiton torso-wrapped in blue cording and a small note at the figure's feet.

a small note at the figure's feet
In the Common language, it reads:
Style 1 - Gladiator
Designed to be worn in combat, the folding and pinning of this chiton prevents loose edges from being snagged by opposing combatants. The shoulder pins are sparse with little to no decoration, and the cording binds the fabric close to the torso, while leaving the shorter edges to create a modesty skirt below the hips. Frequently, a balteus or cingulum is worn at the waist, each trailing pteruges for protection.
