Updates and Suggestions to the Arianiss Map
I created this map in a way that should make it easy to update. Please contact me for adding/removing rooms. Also, if anyone has suggestions, please let me know those too. Thank you! WINTERDAWN (talk) 21:36, 9 June 2022 (CDT)
OSA Ocean Issues
(this is also being used for a bug report and so some issues will be relatively minor)
- There "appears to be" a discrepancy between the official Elanith map and the OSA map. The OSA map has Caligos Isle in a position that "appears to be" where the ruins of Ta'Ashrim are per the Elanith map. I quote "appears to be" because, while the OSA map lines up with the curves of Elanith, this is all player speculation until we get EN ports and see how the OSA map interacts with the Elanith map.
- Kestral Sea is most likely a typo and meant to be Kestrel Sea. The first version of the map Retser uploaded listed it as Kestrel. The next version of the map he uploaded it changed to Kestral. There is no significance to Kestral in GemStone lore, while there is a large significance to Kestrel. Further, the traval captain comments on it being named after a noble family uses Kestrel.
- There are what "appear to be" remnants of old code used by the ship map: There are lines drawn Southeast to the name, "Solhaven Bay" and "The Kestral Sea." There is no location on the ocean for Solhaven Bay and it's not The Kestral Sea but instead just Kestral Sea.
- The dock handler, when asked about the weather, indicates places that don't exist as spots on the map: "Solhaven Bay" and "South of Cobalt Depths." There is no Solhaven Bay (I checked near all of Kestral Sea). South of Cobalt Depths is Cephalod Straits.
- The travel captain OCEAN conversation has inaccurate information.
- Water rooms in The Great Western Sea have a LOCATION of The Tenebrous Cauldron.
- The dock handler, when asked about the weather, says "Sea Of Lazuli" (of needs to be lowercase). The dock hander also says "Obsidian Sea" and "Obsidian Trench" when the names are "The Obsidian..."
- There's two rooms at the start of The Frostmain that by the map should have a ne/sw connection but the rooms don't have it.
- There's a spot in the eastern side of North Blue that has crazy portal mapping. Hidden area not for the public yet? Or will another area somewhere in the system take you to North Blue?
OSA Ocean Issues Explanation
So in July of 2020 an initial map was uploaded. In September of 2020 changes were made and in November of 2020 a new map was released. However, some of the old information remains with the ship map and dock handler. Further, I don't believe the travel captain was revisited to update the OCEAN conversation as many points in that no longer make sense (although they do under the July 2020 map).
