Compasses are scripted items frequently paired with paper maps. They are often sold in festival shops and can be unlocked by willing merchants.

Analyze

You analyze the black oak compass and sense that the item is largely free from merchant alteration restrictions, but the creator has stated that "The item has restrictions on changing the noun."

Your compass is unlocked.

You can TAP, PEER, PUSH, TURN, and RUB your compass.

You get no sense of whether or not the compass may be further lightened.

Tier 1

Usage

Verb First Third
RUB You rub a smudge off of your onyx and jade compass then hold it level in the palm of your hand. Your reading confirms your bearings and you feel confident of your heading. XXXX rubs a smudge off of his onyx and jade compass then holds it level in the palm of his hand. He takes a reading and gets a confident expression on his face.
TURN You glance down at your onyx and jade compass, then up at your surroundings, then back down at your compass again as you slowly turn in circles. Finally you stop because nothing is making any sense. Could you be lost? XXXX slowly turns in circles as he glances down at his onyx and jade compass, then up at his surroundings, then back down at the compass again. Finally he stops and looks up, his expression one of complete bewilderment.

PUSH You hold your vultite-framed compass out in front of you and study it carefully to get your bearings. Turning slightly, you gaze up ahead to pick a landmark for your heading. XXX carefully studies his vultite-framed compass to get his bearings. He turns slightly then gazes up ahead, apparently looking for his heading.
