A soft, somber refrain drifts throughout the edifice, originating from a trio of faceless minstrels in the corner of the room. A lone arrachd figure sits near a high shelf, plucking the strings of his mandolin while resting upon a giant burgundy pillow. A crystalline red glass display case stands near a warped wooden door. You also see a red silk partition.

This is an Instrument Strap.  It can be "attached" to certain instrument types via DROP/PUT, which will make the instrument wearable in the "slung over the shoulder" inventory slot.  No description about the strap will be added to the instrument, but INSPECT will then indicate it as wearable (and the strap will no longer exist as a separate item).  This is an irreversible process; you cannot get the strap back once you've confirmed that you want to add it to the instrument in question.

Instrument Straps can only be attached to the following instrument types: cittern, dulcimer, harp, lute, lyre, lysard, mandolin, psaltery, theorbo, zither, ayr, shamisen, biwa.  If the instrument has any special scripting, it might not be able to accomodate attaching the strap.
