a cozy stone shelter nestled among the roots of a linden tree

Akenna picked her way through the meadow to her tiny home below the linden tree. This had always been her place of comfort, as there was no other place in the whole world that she felt safest outside of the Wyrdeep. Opening the heavy ironwood door, she made her way inside. The sight of her little home greeted her with modest comfort, the afternoon’s winter sun shone through the aqua-hued windows bathing the interior in warm light. She removed her outer robe and placed it on the bed before fishing a small pouch out of her musette. She laid it there on the writing table, the insignia of the mist harbor militia embroidered upon it. She stared at it for a few moments, before sighing heavily and moving her armchair close to the table and producing a piece of vellum and a quill.

Dear Miss Zofiya,
I write to you to tell you that I, Akenna Laeraun-Ranshai do officially step down from leader of the militia and turn in my resignation forthwith. I apologize to do this to you on such short notice. However, certain other responsibilities and obligations have made this event take place. Know that as a defender I will ever be diligent in the defense of Mist Harbor and should you ever need my services on any front, know they are always made available to you, should you ask.
I have been proud to serve this Island, this place. I care deeply about it, and I always will.
Sincerely,
Akenna Laeraun-Ranshai
Defender of Mist Harbor

With a sigh Akenna slumps back into her chair and gazes at the table for a long moment. “That’s, that.” She murmurs under her breath.
