Uniana (prime)/An Oblique Fracture

The city seemed quiet for midday. She could hear the wheels of a random cart on a var over or the faint ethereal tinkling of silver chimes hung on balconies high above but it was also subdued enough that the rustle of silk coming from the skirt of her cotehardie was the most prevalent noise as she moved purposefully towards Ta'Illistim Keep.

The display along the grand staircase leading up to the keep doors had grown significantly in the last week. Bouquets of all kinds were mostly banded in pavonated silk or curled silver ribbons for house Javilerre, but some still were draped in blue and gold out of respect for Kasendra. Sunflowers and mournblooms, what a mismatched pairing, Uniana thought. She glanced down at the wreath in her hand that Missoni had so expertly crafted and gently attended to a few petals that had gotten compressed in transit.

With respect she laid it atop the pile of florals and as she backed away something blinded her briefly. Squinting, Uniana cocked her head and saw numerous shimmering objects among the offerings. Handheld and pocket mirrors placed symbolically, each one shattered or cracked.
