A midnight letter had ushered in another long, sleepless night in the Guardian Keep for the king. Ever-mounting tensions, demons being loosed in elven lands, captured students, rumors of intentionally stirred unrest within his House, and now this wretched mess. The troubles simply would not cease. King Qalinor sat now at a lasimor desk, a courier standing patiently at his side, as he finalized a letter with his flourished signature.

Argent Mirror Myasara Illistim,

Word arrived in the Fortress that there was an unfortunate incident involving your ward, Lady Kasendra Chandrennin Malwind. It is a great sorrow that has fallen upon your House and those of Vornavis, and we grieve for you both. Ta'Vaalor stands with you in your concerns, as a threat within your House is equally a threat to ours, and we humbly offer one of our specialized bandons if you need assistance safely retrieving Lady Sayilla Javilerre Illistim.

Lord Anduin has informed us that Lord Legionnaire Commander Jaranzair has been detained while you investigate the matter. It is both reasonable and understandable that you must take all precautions at this time; however, I respectfully ask that you make every effort to clear his good name as quickly as possible. Otherwise, I request that he be remanded to our custody until he is needed for inquiry. The tensions between Ta'Vaalor and Icemule Trace continue to escalate--we must be able to freely communicate with the Commander and allow him to continue his duties during these trying times.

Honor, Pride, and Glory,
King Qalinor Vaalor
Sovereign Commander of the Crimson Legion

After sealing the missive with warm, ensigiled wax, he rose wearily from his cushioned seat and handed it off to the courier. King Qalinor reached for a nearly empty glass of whiskey, tilting it back and watching over the crystalline rim as the courier hurried away. Sleep called to his tired eyes and fatigued body, but not as loudly as the waiting presence of Lord Legionnaire Commander Cyik looming in the open doorway.
