The Plaid Initiative

Hexagonal pieces of rakkein are bound together with thick catgut and tethered to tall naked yew poles to create a domed tent with a shielded opening in its peak. Braziers of copper and bronze are evening spaced throughout the large expanse to provide a comfortable warmth that is a contrast to the chill of its exterior. Long mahogany racks are arranged along the walls, the tartan fabrics therein neatly folded and pinned for display purposes.

On the blue framework display you see: a heavyweight shield tartan cloth, a heavyweight aemersyl tartan cloth, a lightweight honeybee tartan cloth, a clockwerke tartan cloth, a lightweight rose tartan cloth, and a mediumweight wyvern tartan cloth.

On the red framework display you see: a heavyweight shield tartan plaid, a heavyweight aemersyl tartan plaid, a lightweight honeybee tartan plaid, a clockwerke tartan plaid, a lightweight rose tartan plaid, and a mediumweight wyvern tartan plaid.

Plaid Initiative, Lantern-side

Further from the entry and away from the shielded opening at the peak of the tent, lanterns have been attached to the support posts to provide illumination for the wares on display. The lamplight cast dark shadows against the bound hexagonal rakkein, highlighting the glossy surface where a weather retardant has been applied. Several mahogany trestles provide support to long planks that are laden with a variety of tartan fabrics.
