Empyrean Onslaughts are timed invasion events that rotate across four Ascension hunting zones: Hinterwilds, Moonsedge, The Hive, and Sailors Grief. When an Onslaught is active, invasion portals appear in the targeted zone and transport you to the Empyrean fleet. Each Onslaught runs for four hours before the fleet withdraws.

Use GEM ONSLAUGHT to check whether an event is currently active, where it's happening, and how much time remains.

These specific changes are applied to the test realm: The quest Shadow's Descent is disabled. No spoilers! Access to Onslaughts is not gated by Shadow's Descent. There is a cooldown of one minute between Onslaughts, rather than day(s).

Head to the test realm, give it a spin, and report any issue you have at ⁠mechanics = Empyrean Onslaughts and Codices

Captain encounters are instanced per character and group (up to 5 characters). The rewards are also per character. The chance of a gemstone drop is increased by almost 1000% for the first two Captain encounters and by almost 2000% for the final encounter (in addition to the other significant rewards). (And again, each character gets a separate roll for it).

There are also some quests that are specific to onslaughts, but I think we might be saving those for the live release. Those offer some more experience and codices. Let me see if I can get the details on those...
