To celebrate the opening of the new Kraken's Fall Community Library within Lady Niima's Peaceful Porpoise Temple, Gentleman Hoorne invites citizens to submit their own personal Story of the Sea. We are seeking short vignettes for this contest which we will aim to include in a compendium housed in the Kraken's Fall Library.
Entries should follow the guidelines listed below to qualify:
- Entries are restricted to Kraken's Fall citizens ONLY. Entrants must be a citizen by the close of the contest submission period, on August 1, 2026.
- Each entry must be no more than 500 words and include a title and byline. [Note: title/byline do not count against the word limit]
- Each entry must feature the sea as a principal setting or character, be appropriately in-genre, and must keep in-game POLICY rules in mind.
- Entries will be reviewed and winners decided by the GM team.
In addition to the rules of the contest, we need to ensure everyone is aware of the following issues that GMs may take into account to allow the contest to move forward as smoothly as possible. Please know that in general, we want to keep your designs as you design them. We weren't always GMs, and we know how awesome it is to have your creation make it into the game, and we want to provide that experience for you if it fits. That being said, we are seeing a significant uptick in people just copy/pasting straight from AI, and these are invariably rule-breaking, and also, they are not in the spirit of player-designed contests. We want what you came up with, so please keep that in-mind!
GMs Reserve the Right To:
- Disqualify submissions that break ALTER rules and/or the rules of the contest.
- Choose not to create all entries in-game for any reason. Typically this will be because of #1, but it could also be because there were too many to reasonably create in the time available, etc.
- Not award all winning places if there are insufficient eligible entries.
- Modify any entry as needed if creating it in-game. We will always attempt to stay as close to the designer's intent while modifying to fit rules and requirements.
- Not offer explanations for disqualifications, modifications to the submission, etc. Doing so would take up significant time. By virtue of submitting an entry, you are providing tacit agreement that we may need to do this.
Prizes:
- An experience modifying RPA (roleplaying award - account attuned).
- 250,000 silvers.
- Either two feature alterations OR a full unique field alteration (NO BODY ALTERATIONS - Nothing below the neck).
- A custom tattoo.
- Two separate alteration services (or a long and a show on a single item).
First-place winners may select two items from above.
Second-place and third-place winners may select one item from above.
