1. New Releases:

BUDDY CONTEST WINNERS!
They told their friends about GemStone III and now they're reaping the
rewards! We'll be picking three winners at the end of every month, so just
keep spreading the word and you could be next! The names of the new lucky
winners will be posted on the GemStone III web site each month following

EVENT SURVEY RESULT
Last month we surveyed players regarding whether they would prefer to have
us focus our attention on doing more events or completing the current 24-
hour referral coverage goal.  The results were the following:

Events: 73%
Refers: 14%
Indifferent: 13%

As a result, we're proud to announce that starting this month we will be
offering over a hundred more events per month than ever before!


2. Elanthian Events:

GEMSTONE III RADIO!
Join host Spunn and special guests every Saturday night from 9-11 PM EST
for GS3 Radio -- the all-new way to hear the news as it happens in real-
time audio format! Get the inside scoop on the latest GemStone III
developments and upcoming events, interact with web jockeys during the
broadcast, and hear your questions & answers live on air!

EBON'S GATE FESTIVAL
This year's October "Eve of the Reunion" Festival, running October 29th
through the 31st, will feature all the games, merchants, fun, and most
importantly, food that one would expect from a grand celebration in honor
of Lorminstra! There's room for hundreds of revelers, but participation is
limited for this three-day event, so sign up today at http://gemstone.net.

ROLEPLAY IN OCTOBER
Starting on October 11th, the GemStone III staff will offer a wide variety
of role-playing opportunities.  Over 50 scheduled events are planned for
the month (check NEWS for a continually updated schedule) as well as
dozens of surprises.  Look for a new ongoing storyline, developments
within the House and Society systems, the Ebon's Gate festival, a wide
variety of merchants, contests and more.

YOUNG SORCERER FORUM
Join the Order of Lorekeepers for a "Young Sorcerer Forum" on October 10,
1999 at 9:00 PM Eastern at Silverwood Manor in the Sorcerer Room of the
Pavilion. Watch NEWS 38 for other upcoming Mentor Events!


3. SimuCon Special Report:

SIMUCON 99 WINNERS!
SimuCon '99 was a great success! This year's attendees spent the weekend
with bird of prey, sword-fighting pirates, a wickedly frustrating puzzle
pack, and that darn locked treasure chest!
And lots of GemStone III players were big winners this year - read on to
see who walked away with the loot!

Lady Ylena was the big winner of an Instrument Alteration.

4. News from Simutronics:

MODUS OPERANDI OPEN HOUSE!
The tropical island paradise of Modus Operandi, with its white sandy
beaches and mysterious dark alleyways, beckons you to try out your
sleuthing skills! Join the Morada Island Guides and fellow players for a
special New Player Night and Open House on Sunday, October 24th. Meet at
the Tourist Information Center for guided tours of the island, beginning
at 5 PM EST.

To participate, go to our web site http://www.modusoperandi.net and log
into play. Once in the game, just type DIR JOHNSTON TOURIST INFORMATION
CENTER to find your way there.  Island Guides will be on hand to answer
the questions of new tourists and veteran travelers alike.  We hope to see
