Magister Odelgarde Brindlestraffe fretted over the letter in her hands. The courier arrived mere hours after the Inquisitor had left; Vaelynsa must have roused everyone immediately upon returning to Ta'Illistim to have sent a response and request this quickly.

Now, the courier rested in a guest chamber along with his protective detail. And now, Odelgarde fretted. Not over the questions sent by the inquisitor. Not even over her request to formally be included in the conversations. No, what Odelgarde fretted over was the news she had to share regarding the researcher.

After being taken to a safe location, trusted healers were brought in, and Magister Odelgarde oversaw her care. Unfortunately, Researcher Atylia was nigh incoherent, both with fear and with fever. Whatever she had been through appears to have included several nights in the elements, and it had taken its toll.

The healers adamantly stated that once Atylia's fever broke, she would need several days to recover -- she exhibited several classic signs of overwhelming exhaustion. Even merely reassuring her she was safe and attempting to find out why she was frightened was deemed too stressful. Despite the need for answers, healing takes precedence; there was no arguing with that.

With a sigh, Odelgarde took pen to paper and began to craft her response to Inquisitor Vaelynsa.

The Researcher Atylia - A NotB Vignette
