== Summary ==

[[Talinvor (prime) | Talinvor]] performs a memory retrieval/hypnosis on [[Penre]], Billie (a random NPC child), and [[Reynai]]. Not much is revealed from Penre except that his nightmares were formed from self-confidence issues. He fears that despite all his attempts to be helpful, and useful, that we are all laughing at his efforts. Billie also shared her nightmare: a horrific monster killing her mother in front of her. The end result with the two was that their memories of the nightmare were repressed and they were much happier.

Reynai's session was much more intense. She shared her nightmare, and when pressed for further details, revealed the nightmare creature changed into the shape of a tall, thin elf wearing a hat. Talinvor left her with instructions to write down further dreams on enchanted paper which could allow us to locate this Mister Shadow.

As if on cue...

Mister Shadow revealed himself as [[Pashtal]] in the guise of Greth! Penre is dead from [[Luukosian deathwort]]! The fate of the real Greth is unknown!

Pashtal mildly exclaims, "Now then!  I have much to do.  The Quest has only begun!  But... this charade was growing tiresome.  On to the next, as they say!"

She appears to be a Half-Elf.<br>
She is diminutive in stature, and appears to be very young.  She has long, light brown hair pulled into a tight ponytail at the back of her neck.  Her skin is pale, but not to the point of pallid.  Her small head twitches this way and that in reaction to each small noise.<br>
She has a wide green bandana wrapped around her head, completely obscuring her eyes.<br>
She is holding a soft yierka hide blanket with an intricate woven design in her right hand.<br>
She is wearing a knee-length flower print dress splotched with mud, a tiny drawstring pouch, a pair of faded green trousers with wide brown stitches, and some scuffed brown boots caked with mud.

Reynai quietly whispers aloud, "Am I... next?"

(Talinvor fans his hand over the candle flame causing it to dance.)

Talinvor nods once at Reynai.

Speaking curiously to Reynai, Talinvor asks, "Are you ready?"

Reynai quietly pleads, "No more... no more dreams..."

Reynai shuffles half a step forward, clutching the blanket to her chest.

Talinvor removes a brushed platinum flute set with obsidian keys from in his black suede case.

His expression somber, Talinvor lifts his flute and begins to play a stately melody.

Reynai gulps slightly, then takes a careful step forward.

Talinvor greets, "Good afternoon, Reynai. Have a seat and be comfortable."

As a trudging dirge groans from his flute, Talinvor's fingers move in precisely measured motion.

Talinvor adds, "You can call me Talinvor."

Reynai swallows hard, then squats into an awkward cross-legged stance.

Talinvor quietly says, "We've not met before, though I have heard you've had quite a traumatic experience."

Talinvor silkily asks, "As with Penre and your friend there - I'm here to help with that. I hope you are brave enough to see it through?"

Speaking quietly to Talinvor, Reynai whispers aloud, "Shadow."

Talinvor's somber melody issues from his flute in a keening, forlorn cry before tumbling back into a dismal grudging tread.

His somber lament drops off softly, like the dying sun at the end of the day, and Talinvor slowly lowers his flute.

Talinvor put a brushed platinum flute set with obsidian keys in his black suede case.

Speaking quietly to Talinvor, Reynai pleads, "Make it stop."

Speaking softly to Reynai, Talinvor says, "Shhh, we'll get there."

Reynai bites her lip.

Speaking to Reynai, Talinvor says, "First, let's start with a little endulgence. Do not fret, it is alright."

Talinvor grabs a waxy brown parchment bag from a large pocket inside of his silver-buckled longcoat.

Talinvor says, "Well. It seems there's plenty of chocolate for children."

Reynai leans forward, running her hands across the floor until she encounters the brown parchment bag.

Talinvor encourages, "Go ahead, have a taste. I procured them from Shear Delight just a little bit ago."

Reynai removes a piece of milk chocolate from in a waxy brown parchment bag.

Speaking quietly to Reynai, Talinvor says, "The receptionist was quite agreeable - said she would be happy to doll you up when you are feeling better."

Reynai quietly mutters, "Thank you, sir."

(Talinvor gazes with interest at Reynai's blindfolded face, his fingers brushing against his jaw in thought.)

Reynai takes a small bite from the chocolate in her hand.

Speaking quietly to himself, Talinvor says, "Another hurdle, but you will endure little one."

Talinvor instructs, "First, hold up your hand toward the light - feel the warmth and if you can sense the glow. Imagine if it could overcome the darkness."

Reynai uncertainly whispers aloud, "A... candle?"

Speaking curiously to Reynai, Talinvor says, "Can you sense it. Eii, just a small one - but a light, none the less."

(Talinvor touches Reynai's hand, leading it toward the candle's flame.)

Reynai reaches out a hand slowly, which Talinvor guides with a gentle touch towards the flame, stopping when she can feel its warmth.

Talinvor nods approvingly.

Reynai quietly whispers aloud, "Warm."

Talinvor quietly says, "For now, though I want you to know you are safe here."

Talinvor wryly adds, "We are at Greth's now, and you can probably sense that by the smell."

Talinvor wrinkles his nose.

Reynai quietly mumbles, "Nice man."

Talinvor quietly interjects, "In any case, your friends are just outside waiting for you. But in here, you are protected. I am here and I will need you to trust me."

Talinvor says, "Or rather.. just here.."

Talinvor glances over his shoulder.

Talinvor slowly empties his lungs.

(Talinvor takes Reynai's hands in his and begins humming a peaceful melody with a soft vibrato overtone. "Feel the warmth of the light and feel the protection of my touch," he intones between breaths.)

As the echoes of the hum reverberate around the space, a harmonious descant soars above the notes at the edge of your hearing, and you can feel the air grow heavy with suffused magic.

Speaking softly to Reynai, Talinvor reminds, "You are safe here, safe with me. You will not come to harm."

Reynai nods her head slowly.

Speaking to Reynai, Talinvor says, "Now, before I can stop your dreams - I need to know what you saw. You have told others, and this will be the last time you will be asked to do so."

Reynai gulps softly.

Reynai quietly whispers aloud, "The tentacles came first, just over the edge of my window, slithering in like snakes."

Reynai quietly whispers aloud, "So many tentacles, but as they slithered in they got bigger and bigger, until a round body plopped in, tentacles crawling all over the floor."

Reynai quietly whispers aloud, "When the tentacles got close to my bed, I could see they had mouths on the end of them, and the mouths had rows and rows of really sharp teeth.  And the mouths were opening and closing, and then I could hear that they were laughing at me."

Reynai quietly whispers aloud, "I tried to hide under the blanket, but the tentacles were already under there, and I could hear the laughter turning mean.  I got really scared, but also kinda angry, and I grabbed for one of them, but..."

Reynai quietly mumbles, "That's where I can't remember any more.  When I think about it, I just remember... the fear.  The scared feeling.  It makes my heart beat like it's going to burst, and makes it hard to breathe.  Makes it seem like every shadow is alive... or a tentacle... and I just panic."

Speaking curiously to Reynai, Talinvor asks, "Is that all you remember? This odd shadow creature, and your fear?"

Reynai quietly murmurs, "That's... that's all..."

Reynai shifts uneasily.

(Talinvor builds a soft melody with reiterated tenor notes strung up a major scale, in a simple and calming familiarity of a sleepy lullaby.)

Speaking quietly to Reynai, Talinvor says, "There is more, child - something you didn't mention. You were targetted. Tell me why."

Speaking to Reynai, Talinvor adds, "Do you know of this Mister Shadow?"

Reynai shakes her head, clenching the blanket tight in her fist.

Reynai quietly mouths, "No."

Talinvor quietly says, "Relax now, feel your body float as if it were in the clouds. Remember your dream as if you were watching - what you saw, heard, felt, touched... smelled."

Reynai grimaces slightly, twisting the blanket into a knot in her fist.

Speaking quietly to Reynai, Talinvor asks, "Are you afraid to tell me?"

Reynai quietly murmurs, "Can't..."

Speaking quietly to himself, Talinvor says, "A block..."

Reynai gulps softly.

Talinvor rubs his chin thoughtfully.

Reynai shivers slightly, swaying from side to side.

(Talinvor clenches his fist then opens again.)

Speaking quietly to Reynai, Talinvor asks, "Clarify the tentacle. You grabbed it, and then?"

Speaking quietly to Talinvor, Reynai mouths, "Wasn't... there..."

Talinvor confirms, "An illusion. As suspected."

Reynai shudders, her shoulders hunching as she rocks forward.

Speaking quietly to Talinvor, Reynai gasps, "And the man."

Speaking curiously to Reynai, Talinvor asks, "Are you blocked from telling me more of this man?"

Speaking tearfully to Talinvor, Reynai says, "There was... he was... Shadow..."

Talinvor dubiously says, "A man..."

Speaking to Reynai, Talinvor demands, "Tell me more!"

Speaking tearfully to Talinvor, Reynai wails, "He was making the tentacles!  He was the one doing it!  He saw me, and then..."

Talinvor leans back.

Talinvor distractedly says, "Of course."

Speaking tearfully to Talinvor, Reynai sobs, "He... changed... into something else... and I don't remember any more."

Reynai slumps forward onto the ground, crying.

Speaking quietly to Reynai, Talinvor asks, "Do you remember what this man looked like?"

Talinvor whispers, "Not yet. Too close."

Reynai tearfully asks, "Tall, skiny... an elf?"

Reynai shudders.

Talinvor narrows his eyes.

Speaking quietly to Reynai, Talinvor asks, "An elf? That is not a lot, Reynai - what else before he changed?"

Reynai cries softly, her little form hunched.

Reynai quietly whispers aloud, "He... had a hat?  And... a... book?  Maybe?  It was dark... an' raining..."

Talinvor removes a narrow ebon quill from in his spidersilk pouch.

Speaking to Reynai, Talinvor says, "Now, you will take this quill as a token - a reminder that you can, and have endured. Let it give you faith that you can overcome all things, and will survive."

Reynai sniffs, then retreats into a sitting position, looking wan and shaky.

Talinvor removes a piece of white paper from in his spidersilk pouch.

Speaking to Reynai, Talinvor whispers aloud, "You will write or draw your dreams for me, Reynai. Then, you will make it into a paper kite and let it float upon the winds."

Talinvor quietly says, "Should your information help us find our illustrious shadow man, then I will free you of your burdens."

Reynai cocks her head to one side, listening to the music, then nods slowly.

Speaking softly to Reynai, Talinvor says, "For now, you will feel better - well rested and for a short time, happy."

Speaking to Reynai, Talinvor adds, "When I snap my fingers you will obide by my words to this command."

Reynai quietly mouths, "I understand."

Talinvor snaps his fingers.

Reynai blinks.

Talinvor tucks a brushed platinum flute set with obsidian keys into a small pocket inside of his silver-buckled longcoat.

Speaking curiously to Reynai, Talinvor asks, "How do you feel?"
