The Assault on Drangell's Den on 02/24/2013 10:50 PM CST Links-arrows 3816 Reply Reply Allow me to forewarn, this log was ABSURDLY large, starting from the time Jankus Quakebombed outside Moot Hall until Walkar left. I cut out a significant amount, virtually all player interaction except that which Zyndar, Drangell, and Walkar interaction. I left bits and pieces in that seemed relevant, but the majority of it really was people spelling up, lots of posturing and chatting, and fighting bandits. This log is literally 2% the size of the original, so if a few bits got cut out, or your favorite personal moment didn't make it, sorry . . . it was just too much stuff to include. You see Zyndur. He appears to be a Nalfein Elf. He is tall and appears to be very young. He has sharp silvery-blue eyes and light skin. He has long, soft deep silver hair that flows down his back like liquid moonlight. He has a narrow face, an upturned nose and thin lips. An archaic black rune coils down the left side of his face. He is in good shape. He is wearing a glowing green vial suspended by a thin black metal chain, some shadowy black leather armor, a pocketed woven silver belt, some thin ebony leather bracers, a narrow black leather pack, a deeply-hooded dark leather cloak clasped with an onyx rose, a fitted soft leather jerkin, a pair of crisp black leather gloves, a polished jade ring set with a miniature onyx rose, a dark silver back sheath, some fitted black leather pants, and a pair of soft-soled black leather boots. Zyndur says, "There's a lot of you." Zyndur says, "That is good." Zyndur says, "I will need you all to join me." Speaking to Zyndur, Geijon asks, "Was that your men blowing up tunnels earlier?" Zyndur says, "No, my men have been keeping to the streets above. I lost a lot of them last night." Speaking to Zyndur, Puptilian asks, "Many?" Zyndur says, "A dozen or so." Zyndur recites: "Please join me, and I ask you try to keep...as still as you can." Zyndur recites: "Take two more moments, finish your spells and whatever other fidgeting you need to do." A pall of silence settles on the area. Zyndur says, "Now, there's any of you gathered, so I've called for silence so you can all hear me." Zyndur says, "Now, some of you have decided to stay to protect the town." Zyndur says, "I will tell you before we embark towards Drangell's headquarters, so you can stay behind." Zyndur says, "Now, for those of you coming with me....please listen carefully." Zyndur says, "Over a dozen of my men died ruthlessly last night." Zyndur says, "I never reached the end of these tunnels...." Zyndur says, "But many of you will die before you do." Zyndur says, "So please, understand. Half of you are fodder." Understatement of the year award Zyndur says, "Your sacrifice will not be in vain, for the arrow that kills you, allows your friend next to you to carry on." Zyndur says, "So if you do not wish to face such danger, go now." Zyndur says, "We will stop for no one." Zyndur says, "You may die, you may rot. But I will not suffer tears or corpses. Rescue your own, if you so like." Zyndur says, "But do so at your own risk." Zyndur says, "All opposed? Say so now..." Zyndur listens to the silence. Zyndur snickers. Zyndur says, "The silence will end soon. I will be leading us all in one minute. Those staying behind to protect the town, you may depart." The pall of silence leaves the area. A minute more of spells, then Zyndur took us off. We ended up passing through the Gnoll/Gnome mine area, where the Hideout was hidden. [Drangell's Hideout] A wide hall is blanketed in darkness, broken up only by intermittent spheres of orange light, originating from torches along the walls. Despite the fire's glow, the area is cold. Kerl stares off into space. Zyndur lets loose with a shout of exultation! Svardin yells, "Yer mudder is here wit yer soup!" A voice shouts, "Get her, boys!" A human rogue leaps out of his hiding place! A human rogue swings a falchion at Maags! Amazingly, Maags manages to parry the attack with her runestaff! Geijon swings a gleaming rune-scribed maul at a human rogue! AS: +591 vs DS: +349 with AvD: +43 + d100 roll: +13 = +298 ... and hits for 114 points of damage! Knocked back several feet by blow to abdomen. The human rogue is stunned! And with that, the combat began . . . lots of bandits, lots of arrows. The arrows were definitely autokill capable, but they weren't as lethal as I've seen in the past. That said, they killed a lot of targets . . . and a lot of people were killed by players, accidentally, including . . . * Zyndur drops dead at your feet! The ghostly voice of Zyndur exclaims, "Keep moving!" So everyone joined Cryheart. The rooms had smoke and mud, which gave RT when moving through them, so that was annoying. It also meant getting separated from the group could be a death sentence, but there were a few people in each room that were catching up or stunned, so it wasn't that horrible, ie, not EVERY attack went your way. Then . . . there was this room. [Drangell's Hideout] The hall tapers into a narrow walkway that leads up to a huge steel door. Torch light from nearby faintly illuminates the jagged rock walls. Ravashaak comes out of hiding. Ravashaak joins Cryheart's group. Puptilian begins to look a little better. Cryheart says, "Unlock that door." Cryheart says, "Healing all." Radaena roars! Perivan bashes the steel door with his vultite greatsword. Suddenly, you hear a sound like shattered crystal and a bright reddish-brown light flashes from the lock mechanism! Perivan is engulfed by the light! ... 16 points of damage! Speaking to Ravashaak, Geijon asks, "Get th' door?" Loud laughter echoes from nearby! Ravashaak says, "I need an eye." Geijon says, "I wonder if we could bash it now that it triggered." The ghostly voice of Spert squeakily says, "Why not have a skilled rogue disarm it first." The ghostly voice of Cryheart says, "I would check for traps still." Geijon says, "I didn't plan on touching it." Geijon grins. The ghostly voice of Thorin says, "I jes' got me head set on fire. Let's try tha same thing we tried last time." The ghostly voice of Cryheart says, "Well...first words out of my mouth...unlock it." Wanion meditates over Ravashaak. Wanion takes Ravashaak's left eye damage. Geijon says, "Give it a shot." Ravashaak detaches a bone white vaalin lockpick from an antique mithril-chased eahnor keyring. Ravashaak settles into the difficult task of picking the lock on a huge steel door. Then...CLICK! It opens! Suddenly, you hear a sound like shattered crystal and a bright reddish-brown light flashes from the lock mechanism! Ravashaak is engulfed by the light! ... 20 points of damage! However, the number of living and whole adventurers was very small. Occasionally, individuals would go through the door, but almost all of them ended up dead within 30 seconds. It took about 20 minutes, a little longer, from this point to regroup. Riend fogged the majority of the dead to Voln, where they were raised. Wintersylph stayed in this Hideout and kept the door room sanctified, and raised a few more people. Eventually, a strike force strong enough, most of which had recouperated in town, came back through and were able to push through the remaining rooms. Resuming outside of Drangell's room . . . [Drangell's Den] An entire rock wall is covered with a huge canvas map, depicting the borders and landmarks throughout the Turamzzyrian Empire. A blood-stained table in the corner is cluttered with tiny wood and stone markers, many crafted into the shape of tiny soldiers or catapults. You also see a star ruby, some blue lapis lazuli, a reinforced shield, a large pink pearl, a reinforced shield, an uncut emerald, a reinforced shield, a reinforced shield, a reinforced shield, the Myden disk, a pale golden cougar and a massive bearded white tiger. Kerl's group just went through an opening. [Drangell's Chamber] Huge walls of stone have been worn down to a smooth finish and decorated with old tapestries, depicting triumphant events throughout the history of Giantmen. A large, yet simple bed rests against one wall, while a weapon's rack and armoire stand nearby. You also see the Lyllenyn disk and a large opening. Also here: Scrivener of the Sword Myden, Lady Robynn, Kirael, Arnylon, Lady Khristal, High Lady Evia, Kipa, Sadrae, Lord Perivan, Bryft, Geijon, Sir Cryheart, Karibeth, Riend, Lady Arwen, Ortar, Kerl, Clunk, Lady Lyllenyn, Commander Drangell Obvious exits: none Drangell cackles! Drangell exclaims, "Bravo!" Speaking deeply to Drangell, Clunk asks, "Ye is the one folks is lookin fer?" Drangell nods at Clunk. Drangell says, "I am." Cryheart says, "Ye be under arrest Drangell." Drangell says, "So...here we are." Speaking to Drangell, Lyllenyn asks, "Do you wish to die here, in this hole in the ground?" Drangell says, "A lot of you died." Speaking to Drangell, Arnylon says, "You of all people should be aware that the dead return to life." Drangell says, "Funny you mention it." Drangell put a black mithril greataxe in his white axe harness. Drangell asks, "My alliance with the Lich?" Drangell says, "Over." Speaking curiously to Drangell, Riend asks, "Oh... what happened?" Drangell asks, "He's going to use the bodies of my own men?" Drangell says, "I will not stand for that." Drangell says, "So I will surrender." Speaking wryly to Drangell, Riend asks, "Now you have an attack of morale outrage?" Speaking to Drangell, Lyllenyn says, "It's a shame so many died for that forgone conclusion." Drangell asks, "Is it?" Drangell peers quizzically at Lyllenyn. Drangell says, "I told you." Drangell says, "It would come at a cost." Speaking to Drangell, Bryft says, "If you are surrending they why all the defensive measures." Drangell says, "This was my headquarters." Drangell says, "The defenses existed for a long time." Speaking to Drangell, Riend asks, "You realize this town's mercy for you is long gone, yes?" Drangell asks, "Is it?" Drangell peers quizzically at Riend. Drangell says, "Their mercy for a zombie mayor endures." Drangell says, "I will take my chances with Walkar." Speaking to Drangell, Kerl says, "Well then, let's get you back to prison for just such an occasion." Drangell peers quizzically at Kerl. Drangell says, "I never said hold my hand, be my date." The voice of Svardin says, "Disarm." Drangell asks, "Disarm?" Drangell says, "I did already." Speaking to Drangell, Riend says, "Very well, if you are choosing to surrender, then we should get you back to town." Drangell says, "My weapon is sheathed." The voice of Svardin says, "Hand over, not in yer cloak." Drangell says, "Now..." Drangell says, "Take a moment, settle yourself." Drangell says, "You will hear my terms." Speaking to Cryheart, Geijon asks, "Remember th' other two times he offered terms?" Speaking to Drangell, Lyllenyn says, "You don't seem to be in a position to put forth "terms"." Drangell coughs. Drangell says, "Erm...I'm sorry." Speaking suggestively to Drangell, Adagya states, "I believe you should reconsider your alliance with His Liege. Those bodies and men meant nothing to you, was were useful for another purpose." Drangell says, "Shut up." Drangell glares at Adagya. Drangell says, "Don't lecture me on my purpose." Drangell unsheaths his greataxe. Drangell says, "Now then." Drangell says, "Here are my terms of surrender." Drangell asks, "Who will take this?" Drangell taps a black mithril greataxe, which is in his right hand. Arpelli raises her hand. The voice of Svardin says, "Arpelli." You adopt an agreeable expression. Drangell offers Arpelli a black mithril greataxe. Drangell says, "You raised your hand first." Drangell asks, "Don't use it to torture little kid's daddies, okay?" Drangell laughs at Arpelli! Arpelli smirks at Drangell. Speaking to Drangell, Sarvia says, "She didn't." Speaking to Drangell, Sarvia says, "I did." Drangell asks, "Or you just let Sarvia and Ravashaak do the breaking?" Drangell nods. Speaking to Drangell, Lyllenyn asks, "Get on with it then. What do you offer?" Speaking quietly to Drangell, Luxrious asks, "What are your terms?" Speaking to Drangell, Kerl says, "Something we can agree upon." Drangell says, "I will go peacefully." Luxrious quietly asks, "What of your assassin?" Drangell says, "My Brotherhood? It remains, it exists. You can never destroy it." Drangell says, "Jankus has long escaped, you won't catch him." Speaking firmly to Drangell, Riend says, "Perhaps not, but removing you is the first step to running the lot of them out of our town." Drangell says, "Sure..." Drangell nods at Riend. Drangell says, "I will go peacefully, and this will be the message you deliver to Walkar." Drangell says, "Walkar will grant myself and Jankus a full pardon." Alarys laughs at Drangell! Kerl rolls his eyes. Sagoth laughs! Kirael snorts! Ortar throws back his head and roars with laughter! Daeliera arches one eyebrow at Drangell in an expression of sardonic amusement. Riend glances incredulously at Drangell. Maags rolls her eyes at Drangell. Kirael says, "It's good to have dreams." Karibeth laughs! Drangell says, "I'll wait for your laughter to die down." Drangell says, "Walkar will pardon me and Jankus." Drangell says, "Because we will lead your so-called heroes to dstroy the Lich for good." Drangell says, "By revealing his phylactery." Drangell says, "It isn't his ring." Drangell says, "Or else I'd have done it myself." Speaking to Drangell, Dreuntar asks, "If not the ring, then what is it?" Drangell laughs at Dreuntar! Drangell says, "I'm not saying." Drangell says, "Look, there's a hundred of you talking at once." Kerl says, "Actually, I think those are acceptable terms... you'll be able to avoid crime for about 17 minutes... there will be plenty of new crimes to charge you with should it be necessary." Drangell laughs at Kerl! Drangell says, "Like I said, full pardon for me and ole Jankus." Drangell says, "You'll probably never see us again." Shimmerain raspily says, "Probably means he'll be back." Speaking to Drangell, Maags says, "How about a promise , no problies." Speaking quietly to Drangell, Luxrious says, "Lets start with proving your worth and lead us to kill the lich." Drangell says, "Nope." Drangell looks over at Luxrious and shakes his head. Cryheart asks, "Will ye come with us Drangell?" Drangell says, "Sure." Drangell says, "You heard my terms." Drangell asks, "Who is leading us to town?" Arpelli points at Kerl. Kerl raises his hand. Drangell says, "Fine...we all ride back with Kerl." Drangell joins Kerl's group. You follow Kerl as he steps through the shifting portal. From here, we walk to Walkar's office. [Moot Hall, Mayor's Office] At the varnished modwir door, a red bear skin rug stretches across the polished hardwood floors while twin velnalin hide chairs face the Mayor's pine desk. A great stag's head is mounted above a cobblestone fireplace set into the western wall. Several tumblers of liquor and shot glasses rest atop an oak bar beside a tall arched window. A blue-streaked river trout is mounted above an open closet, its mouth still wedged open by a fish hook. You also see a basket of sticks, a small framed portrait and a droopy-eyed tan bloodhound. Also here: Ortar, Raincail, Lord Balantine, Lady Wintersylph, Lord Chamorr, Luxrious, Liabo Chair Aoife, Arpelli, Mistress Daeliera, Adagya, High Lord Masrath, Alarys, Radaena, Great Lady Sareyna, Ravashaak, Sarvia, Lurrah, Grand Lord Sagoth, Talonir, Talonhawke, Wanion, Scrivener of the Stars Alynith, Cruxophim, Spert, Kyal, Monax, Leloo, Shimmerain, Puptilian, Maags, Lord Edrel, Zelas, Rogane, Gweneivia, Ana, Mister Polveiss, Azimar, Sir Bristenn, Scrivener of the Sword Myden, Kirael, Lady Khristal, High Lady Evia, Kipa, Sadrae, Lord Perivan, Bryft, Geijon, Sir Cryheart, Karibeth, Riend, Lady Arwen, Clunk, Lady Lyllenyn, Commander Drangell, Kerl Obvious exits: none Drangell says, "Nice office." Drangell says, "Doesn't scream zombie." Drangell pours himself a stein of fiery gold ale. Drangell asks, "Mind?" Drangell takes a drink from his fiery gold ale. Drangell's eyes glaze over slightly and his face pales. Drangell is stunned! Speaking to Drangell, Arpelli says, "Drink up..." Drangell says, "Nice, doesn't taste like blood." Drangell says, "So Walkar only eats flesh." Drangell says, "Good to know." Drangell twists his head slightly, cracking his neck. He looks relieved. Drangell takes a drink from his fiery gold ale. Drangell's eyes glaze over slightly and his face pales. Drangell is stunned! Mayor Walkar just came through a varnished modwir door. Cryheart says, "Ye hae a guest." Drangell says, "They let me sit in yer chair, Walkar lad." Walkar smirks. Cryheart says, "He has made terms for surrender." Walkar says, "I'm sure they did." Walkar says, "Good work everyone." Walkar says, "I won't even complain about dragging his smelly ass into my office." Walkar asks, "So I hear there's terms?" Walkar says, "I don't think he's here for a council position." Drangell says, "Nah, council is too corrupt for me." Drangell takes a drink from his fiery gold ale. His face flushes and his eyes water. Drangell's eyes glaze over slightly and his face pales. Drangell is stunned! Speaking to Walkar, Kerl says, "He asks a full pardon for himself and Jankus, in exchange for which he'll reveal Barnom's phylactery." Speaking to Walkar, Kerl says, "He states we'll likely never see them again." Walkar says, "That's a bold request." Drangell says, "Why not? You pardoned Thrayzar." Speaking to Walkar, Arpelli says, "Here's this... it was Drangell's... he turned it over." Arpelli offers Walkar a black mithril greataxe. Walkar accepts Arpelli's mithril greataxe. Karibeth says, "Thrayzar was working for the town and it's people, not against." Ana says, "It's the AND JANKUS part I have an issue with." Walkar bows to Arpelli. Speaking to Walkar, Puptilian says, "I personally say we see how good this jail is. Drangell has tried for this town twice now." Walkar says, "Thanks." Walkar tilts his mithril greataxe side to side, making the light play off it. Arpelli says, "Of course." Arpelli curtsies. Walkar says, "We'll take your offer into consideration, for you'll be apprehended for now." Walkar nods at Drangell. Guards arrive, wrestle Drangell to the ground and haul him away! He spills his ale too. Walkar just went over and threw himself down on the chair. Walkar says, "No, he's not going back to our prison." Walkar says, "Pherantyr has a nice warm spot for him." Speaking to Walkar, Arnylon says, "On a brighter note this evening, Zyndur was killed. Looks like you're not in his debt any longer." Walkar asks, "I understand it took a bit to get to his little home eh?" Speaking to Walkar, Puptilian asks, "Any word from our hired merc?" Walkar says, "Zyndur has returned, yes." Walkar asks, "So did he mention how he knows to kill Barnom?" Azimar says, "If Jankus has the phylactery, he is of great use." Walkar asks, "The location?" Speaking to Walkar, Arnylon says, "He claims he knows where the phylactery is." Perivan says, "And it's not the ring, he claims." Walkar says, "Ah, so he does not have it." Walkar says, "While I do not like the idea of a pardon at all, I do like the idea of killing Slim." Walkar says, "I will need time to think on this." Cryheart asks, "Who is more the threat?" Walkar says, "Slim is the bigger threat, yes." Walkar says, "His power is tainting our town and forests." Walkar says, "And no pardon will ever be granted until the pact is met in full." Walkar says, "I will hear from more of you soon." Walkar says, "For now, rest tonight in your triumphs." Walkar says, "You bled and burned, but Drangell is ours. Again." Archales asks, "Since when do you like your justice ground slowly?" Walkar peers quizzically at Archales. Walkar says, "I have my moments." Svardin asks, "What makes you think Barnom can't break him out of there?" Speaking to Walkar, Lyllenyn asks, "And Drangell's detainment is certain for the time being?" Walkar says, "He was broken out of prison by the Lich." Arpelli says, "I hope he's someplace a bit more secure than the jail cell." Walkar says, "He's not in the old prison anymore." Walkar says, "Slim, ally or not, won't find him." Svardin asks, "What makes you think Barnom can't break him out of there?" Svardin says, "Pherantyrn is not all-knowing." Walkar asks, "To be honest?" Walkar says, "Drangell is probably half way to be cutting up into multiple pieces and place inside different fiery prisons." Walkar says, "When I want to speak to him again, he'll regrow." Walkar chuckles. Arnylon says, "So we may wind up with 17 miniature Drangell's instead of one big one. Sounds reasonable." Raincail quietly says, "Thats dark." Speaking softly to Raincail, you say, "It is how it should have been done from the beginning." Speaking to Walkar, Masrath says, "I want the little monkey Jankus." Walkar says, "Except now...he still has a use." Walkar says, "Maybe." Berkana asks, "Maybe, while emotions are high, this discussion won't be as productive. Perhaps, after a night of contemplation, one or a few can represent the population or the negotiation?" Walkar nods at Berkana. Walkar says, "I will publically call for opinions to be shared. I will make it known." Berkana says, "I would also chose those who have no vested interest and can speak from an objective place able to see all sides." Speaking deeply to Walkar, Rogane says, "How convenient." Walkar says, "Goodnight everyone. Rest easy, one less madman on the streets." Walkar says, "Next...Rogane." Walkar winks at Rogane. Rogane nods at Walkar. Speaking to Walkar, Sovine asks, "An why does he say you must eat flesh?" Walkar peers quizzically at Sovine. Walkar says, "He's a liar." Walkar says, "I think he's half dhe'nar." Speaking to Walkar, Arnylon says, "Can't trust those dhe'nar. That and they don't bathe often enough." Sovine says, "There are no half dhe'nar." Walkar says, "Jokes...please...no arrows." Walkar waves. Walkar stands up. Mayor Walkar just went through a varnished modwir door.
