Cover to Cover

[Cover to Cover] Room: 7142555
The narrow stall has been erected with a framework of sturdy wooden shelves, the corners framed in metal-looped swatches of various materials dyed in bright colors. A bookish Ornathian clerk rests behind a map-carved olivewood counter, the elongated surface extending at an odd angle to showcase a velvet-padded chest, the container covered in stylized calligraphy. The faint scent of oud and saffron drift within the enclosed space, the aroma emanating from a peahen-shaped censer.
Obvious paths: out
a bookish Ornathian clerk
Shoulder-length, straight grey brown hair frames his narrow face, punctuated by a thin, sharp nose. Round, rimless spectacles make his large grey eyes look decidedly owlish. His coat and trousers are of fine cut and fabric, but worn with time, as if he simply cannot be bothered to purchase new attire.

Prices in silvers.

In the velvet-padded chest you see: a compass-set tanned leather cover, a brass-capped verdigris suede cover, an avian-tooled ebony leather cover, a patchwork suede and silk cover, a wax-speckled scarlet leather cover, a starburst-set ink blue velvet cover, a leather-bound saffron mykal cover, a bamboo-bound tea green suede cover, a sheaf of floriated vellum, a sheaf of sketched vellum, a sheaf of emblem-set vellum, a sheaf of scorched parchment, a sheaf of bloodied parchment, a sheaf of map-drawn parchment, and a sheaf of doodled parchment.

On the olivewood counter you see: a simple book binding press, a neatly lettered note, and a small printed placard.

a neatly lettered note
In the Common language, it reads:

I, Qais, can create a custom journal for you. You need only to select a cover and a sheaf of pages from the bookcase. (Each completed volume will have twenty pages.) I can make five types of books (book, notebook, journal, volume, and folio), so be sure to ASK me about the one you are most interested in. Please note that only I can bind these papers into a cover. If you buy some, make sure I fix it up for you. If you leave Ornath before I've worked with them, they will be useless.

In the Common language, it reads:

Some obscure details about my wares:

Be aware when writing that the spoken and written word are closely linked.

You must have a quill to write, but it need not be a quill purchased here. Inkpots are not necessary, as the pages have a magical element to them.

You may erase what you've written by CLEANing the page.

You may TEAR the page to *permanently* remove it from the book.

PUSH, TURN, and FLIP will allow you to work with the individual pages.
