I wanted to put this out there so if anyone else ran into the same problem, they wouldn't have to spend close to 45 minutes (or more) trapped in a room where they existed, but they didn't.

First, the story --

Today I decided to take my wizard, Clairi, hunting in the catacombs. She's level 6 and still learning. She only had her spells to protect her. I used ;wander to move around and stop at anything she could hit (anything in that area). I got all the boundary rooms set up, or so I thought...

She wanders off into the nexus, guess which boundary rooms I forgot to set up?! She walks NW and promptly jumps into the river. I've been here before, not an issue; just swim downstream until you get to the mud pool, right? WRONG! She swam downstream until suddenly she was on a ledge, with no room number. Other players could locate her, but they could not get to her. We had other players jumping into the river and swimming downstream trying to find her. No luck. Jutting out of one of the slick earthen walls and over the inky black pool of water, the spacious ledge sits at a slight angle. Small cracks in the wall splinter in such a way as to create several natural niches. The sounds of dripping water and the occasional whistling of gusts of wind mix unrythmically with the flow of the river water"

[Black River, Ledge] Jutting out of one of the slick earthen walls and over the inky black pool of water, the spacious ledge sits at a slight angle. Small cracks in the wall splinter in such a way as to create several natural niches. The sounds of dripping water and the occasional whistling of gusts of wind mix unrythmically with the flow of the river water"

Finally, a player says "throw everything you can into perception and search." I open up the skills manager, throw everything I can into perception, save it and go back to the game. >Search....You discover a shallow crevice while searching the area! >go crevice.....This takes me:

[Underground Tunnels, Rubble] Pounding down from above, a rapidly rushing waterfall falls in heavy sheets, creating a shin-deep turbulent pool of water, large boulders and clusters of rock jutting from below the surface. Before continuing on its way downstream in a miniature flood, the inky black water fades in color and visual texture to the normalized murk of the Locksmehr River. You also see a rubble-ridden slope. Obvious exits: none Still can't get out, no idea where I am. Go2 isn't taking me anywhere, now I'm lost again. Finally a player says "do what you did in the previous room, should work there too." So, I search again. "You make a careful search of the area and discover a shadowy gap in the rocks!" >go gap >go slope >go river >go glowing grate

So, here's what the issue was. As you are swimming downstream, there is a ledge that juts out. Normally, you just swim by it, but because I had been wandering, it was searching for the first opening it could find. It wasn't until after I was on the ledge that I killed the ;wander script.

I didn't figure out everything that happened until after I haphazardly got out and scrolled all the way back through my logs. That's when I saw the ledge and ;wander taking me onto the ledge.

So, if you find yourself lost in the river in the catacombs, search. That's the key to getting out.

Thank you to all of you who stuck with me for 45 minutes or so, offering suggestions, looking for me and trying to help.
