1. New Releases:

SIGN UP YOUR BUDDIES & WIN PRIZES!
Win an alteration, free quest ticket, or one-month free game play by
inviting your friends and family to play GemStone III! Our first drawing
for prizes is September 15, 1999, so start spreading the word today. The
names of the lucky winners will be published on the GemStone III web site
following the drawing. To participate, go to http://buddy.play.net/gs3.

BARD SPELLSONG 1009 ENHANCED
Sonic Shield has been enhanced to allow the singer to specify what kind of
shield they will form. In order to specify the shield, use the same
syntax as Sonic Weapon. Specifically, SING <shield> will allow you to
create the shield. Valid keywords for <shield> include: buckler, shield,
targe, heater, parma, kite, wall, and tower. Specifying the shield type
changes the name of the shield only, and does not alter the properties of
the shield in any way.

Significant improvements have also been made to spells 425 and 430.
Previously, recasting either of these spells before their duration expired
would waste 25 or 30 mana. Now when you recast, the spell duration is
reset to your maximum time.

LIMERICK WINNERS
Congratulations to the winners of the limerick contest at the last Four
Winds meeting! Following are the five talented contestants and their
limericks that earned them top honors:

First Place: Foudini
"A halfling who lived on the wharf
Would complain about being so short"
"His mother would chide
Look on the bright side"
"The gods could have made you a dwarf!"

Second Place: Ariel
"A rolton walked into a bar
But that rolton did not get too far
For the patrons did shout,
"Its INVASION, no doubt!"
Then that rolton burned like a cigar."

Third Place: Tocciata
"There once was a young man who swore
Some day he'd be Helga's amour.
"I'll impress her, I think
With how much I can drink,"
He cried, falling drunk to the floor."

Fourth Place: Sylken
"'There once was a Lady from Icemule
Who mainly wore clothing of tulle
While crossing the snow
She swayed to and fro
And fell on her "tulle" like a fool."

With incandescent flares of golden trife

Who hath the worst of feature
In a flash, stood before him, a wife!"
