KROLVINS INVADE ICEMULE DURING CULTURAL PAGEANT FESTIVITIES
~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~

Dateline: Day 10 of Lumnea, 5104: Icemule Trace

Tonight the Krol invaded Icemule Trace in quite a vigorous attack. Highly skilled legionnaires and warchiefs joined scouts and other lesser Krolvin soldiers in the battle.

The reason and central focus of the attack was apparently a desire by the Krol to seek sanctuary of some sort within the walls of the Temple of Icemule. However, in attempting to obtain this sanctuary, the Krol showed no aversion to slaughtering innocents by the score within the streets of the town, as well as overrunning the temple proper and wreaking havoc within the various chapels.

Temple Dean Duvalle was much upset by the incursion by these "faithless" into the temple, and saw to it -- in tandem with a group of adventurers who volunteered to aid -- that the last of the Krolvin invaders were removed from within all sacred premises.

The Temple Dean spoke of the local militia needing to set up more patrols of the city walls to protect against further such occurrences. He also asked that clerics of the various Arkati and deified spirits make a point of performing resantify rituals within the various chapels of the temple as soon as possible. He himself, as a cleric of Charl, performed such a ritual in the Hall of Seas.

As to exactly why the Krolvin were seeking sancturary, whether this marks another period of political upheaval amongst their kind, with various factions again vying for leadership and thus one faction seeking sanctuary, is unknown at this time. However, it would perhaps be wise for all to keep a wary eye on the Krolvin situation.

The mood today in Clovertooth Hall bordered on the ecstatic as city officials counted the revenue from this weekend's cultural pageant.

"It was a fabulous weekend," Jimbla Dabbings, City Councilmember declared. "The takings from the rat races were very gratifying, and nearly two thousand tarts were sold on the final night!"

Key to the success of the pageant was the presence of the Giant Clans who showed off their traditional totem storytelling, history, and handicrafts. While participation from the Wslamir could have been greater, the Issimir clan was very involved in obtaining liquor, and the Maemaril clan did amazing work in setting up the displays. Notable participants in the creating of the display hall were Eliasar, Landceal, Guarrin, Onikirimaru, Ashleigh, Llorrin, Jazmeena, Skogkatt, and Tarkisis.

Dabbings also extended thanks to those who contributed to the halfling exhibits, shops, and performances, particular to Karako and Andriatta. Andriatta's demonstration of traditional Brughan canoe-making was especially popular.

City Councilmember Jimbla Dabbings reassured her supporters that she is fine, although still a bit nervous after abducted by Blizzerdd during the closing moments of the Icemule Cultural Pageant.

"There I was, helping distribute the delicious tarts set out by Tartifacts, when I was suddenly seized about the ankle, upended, and dragged off to the temple!" Jimbla said, relating the harrowing story of her capture. "I kicked and fought as well as I could, but he was much larger than I am. And no one could hear me screaming over the noise in Town Center."

Jimbla was swiftly dragged to the Hall of the Wounded Heart, where the followers of Mularos congregate. Before she could call out, she was manacled and gagged by the clearly insane ranger who proceeded to question her on city policy.

"How was I supposed to explain the inner workings of the council?" Jimbla asked rhetorically. "I couldn't even talk!"

She could think, however, and bravely sent out a call for help. Citizens Kontii, Vinsant, and Faelynna responded, rescuing her and undoing her shackles.

"As soon as I could, I had the deputy arrest him!" Jimbla continued. "But the laws are far too lenient. I believe he received a small fine. My personal opinion is that he should be banished. Attacking councilmembers! What's next?"

Citizens are warned to beware of Blizzerdd who is possibly insane and very dangerous. If they see him, they should not try to subdue him, but contact a deputy or guard.

DIRTY DOCK DEEDS!

Dateline: Day 3 of Lumnea, 5104: Wehnimer's Landing

Following up on the unfortunate murder of a silk merchant last month in Wehnimer's Landing, I have kept my ears close to the ground (well, more than usual) for more information about what some local authorities had called a string of deaths.

In the last month since the merchant's death, his family has since packed up their belongings and left town with rapid flight. Activites on the docks seemed to keep up their normal pace, lively in day, deadly at night. While I had worked extraordinarily hard to learn more about who was responsible for the merchant's death, it seemed the constable and his deputies held fast to keep everything a secret. That is, until another body surfaced on the docks.

No longer able to easily ignore the rising body count, information from the authorities was easier to find. It seems a body was discovered just three days ago on the Landing docks, with his injuries ranging from small stab wounds to jagged cuts along his legs. The corpse was described as one of elven descent, though the exact heritage is being guarded securely. The body was said to be garbed in dark leather wrappings and a face mask, while the only color was that of a red sash across his chest. No weapons were found upon the body, but interestingly enough, a glass syringe with leftover residue was confiscated.

While I tried to find out exactly what was in the syringe, I was met with plenty of informational roadblocks such that I haven't a thing to report currently. Unfortunately, the body at the docks wasn't the only discovery this week. The very next day, a halfling body was found not far from the hollowed out tree trunk in the Lower Dragonsclaw forest, just outside of Wehnimer's Landing.

According to officials, the halfling had died from loss of blood due to grievous wounds. When I sought out an identity of this fellow halfling, I was promptly told that information was not of the public's concern because the corpse was believed to be a member of a local smuggler's guild and the death was currently under investigation. I was then sternly told where I could stick my ink quill if I kept asking questions. How rude!

A CONFLICT OF CULTURE!
~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~

Dateline: Day 9 of Lumnea, 5104: Wehnimer's Landing

It was just the other day while I was enjoying the coastal view outside of Wehnimer's Landing, when I was suddenly ambushed by a band of kobolds! A crude net quickly pinned me to the ground while the half a dozen creatures quickly surrounded me. Struggling with my bindings, I stopped for a brief moment to see a much larger kobold step forward from the circle. His gnarled hand reached into the folds of his cloak and in the blink of an eye hurled something at me.

While I had expected my demise I was instead struck with a discovery of sorts. Even the kobolds read. Cracked open in the dirt next to me, was an old torn copy of the Elanthian Journal that the kobold leader had tossed at me. He then loudly declared in broken common that I was to remain still and capture his every word. Well, of course, the words he could pronounce.

It seems the kobolds inhabiting the Lower Dragonsclaw forests have learned of the cultural focus in many cities this Summer. It also seems that they are in an uproar about their obvious and arguably purposely ignored participation in the cultural festivities. The kobold leader then laid out his argument as to why their existence should be celebrated.

Their main focus was that they are taller than the Gnomes, yet that race is being honored. Kobolds have been in Elanthia long before the Aelotoi, but yet they too have found a niche in the clash of cultures. The kobolds argued that their weapons could even rival that of the Dwarves, wherein their ears are nearly as pointy as Elves, and when it came to smell, well, I'll refrain from finishing that.

All in all, I was eventually released from my imprisonment and not a hair on my toes was harmed. The kobolds then parted and left me with a souvenir, an old torn copy of the Elanthian Journal. As I try to cleanse the salty fish smell from the book, I write this article to let all those concerned know. Kobolds can read and they've got class, so let's celebrate their culture and not be an...
