A DRAGON! ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ Dateline: Day 16th of Jastatos, 5104: Wehnimer's Landing It was the evening of the 16th of Jastatos when I had just turned in for the night. My windows were latched and my front door locked. All the candles were blown out and I happily welcomed sleep. Never before had I felt such an enormous wave of earthquakes in all of my life! My entire little home felt as if it was being shaken apart. It was only a matter of time until part of it was! My windows shattered and my trinkets fell from my shelves in a disheveled pile. I quickly sprang to my feet and ran outside, although I should have gone into hiding! Reports soon poured in over the amulet and among the people in the streets of boulders rolling down the Dragonspine mountains as quake after quake rocked the ground. It wasn't long before all eyes turned to the tips of the mountains with many heading to the roofs of shops or their homes. Suddenly a most amazing blast caused the top of a mountain range to explode, sending a plume of smoke and dirt up into the air! Many stood frozen in shock! But our disbelief soon turned to fear when we made out a faint image within the cloud of dirt now lingering over the mountains. In no time at all, the creature was discerned. It was a shadowy black dragon! Flying right towards Wehnimer's Landing!
~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ HAUNTED HOUSE! ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ Dateline: Day 10th of Jastatos, 5104: Wehnimer's Landing House of Paupers is proud to announce their annual Haunted House to take place on the 30th and 31st of Jastatos! A most terrifying curse will befall the great house for two evenings and ghouls and ghosts will replace the lively inhabitants and darkness will haunt every corner! However, cursed as it may be, the grounds of the House of Paupers will be open to anyone and everyone who wishes to risk entering the house of the haunted! Prizes, candy and ghastly trinkets will be available to those who manage to survive the horrors! Remember to be ever alert and always, always watch your back! BOO! -House of Paupers-
~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ DEAD MAN'S FATE AND THE EBON GATE! ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ Dateline: Day 10th of Jastatos, 5104: Wehnimer's Landing The Festival of the Dead. The Eve of the Reunion. The Ebon Gate. Or perhaps just another lonely night. The 31st of Jastatos has been called all of these things. But despite which label the denizens of Elanthia pin to it, nothing is more certain then the experience that occurs on that dreadfully beautiful night. Lorminstra, in all her glory and grace, opens the Ebon Gate once a year, the veil between the living and the dead, to allow both sides to once again reunite. Fallen friends, deceased relatives, lost loves, and other tormented souls all roam the lands once more. Some say they have literally experienced their lost loved ones return, sharing stories, memories and even drinks with them! Others claim to only have caught quick glimpses of what might have been the specter of someone taken far too soon. Whichever experience or belief finds you, there is no arguing that on that night, the dead will rise. While many people celebrate the momentary reunion with loved ones, some have come to curse that night. Some have fallen into deeper depression having been denied a reunion with someone beyond the veil. Some, on the other hand, have been plagued or haunted by those who walk once more. Overall, the Eve of the Reunion has many different meanings to many different people. Whether your experience is joyful, horrifying or nothing out of the ordinary, always remember to be careful and protect your loved ones who still reside on the ideal side of the Ebon Gate. With carelessness and unchecked behaviors, you never know when you might be crossing over to the other side. Enjoy the time you have with those gone, for it is a precious thing to experience their love, laughter and smile once more. Pray you are never alone on that night, unvisited and undisturbed. ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ A TRIVIAL SUCCESS! ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ Dateline: Day 22nd of Jastatos, 5104: Wehnimer's Landing On the eve of the 21st of Jastatos, a rawhide tent was quickly erected outside of the Landing's North Gates. Inside, Moonshine Manor held their Landing Trivia event, hosted by Tellian of House of the Argent Aspis! The trivial game lasted roughly around an hour and a half with over twenty-five participants. They all did quite well, we might add! However, once all correct answers were tallied up, Syedehn walked away with third place, Desorceri came in second and Nilandia was the big winner of the night! On behalf of Moonshine Manor, we thank all those who made it out to the event that night. A special thank you to Tellian for his assistance and congradulations to all of our winners! ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ SOME BITTER LITTER! ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ Dateline: Day 10th of Jastatos, 5104: Wehnimer's Landing Working closely with the constable to determine troubles arising in Wehnimer's Landing, plus providing the citizens with ample information to protect themselves, has lead to a new recent discovery. It seems a number of reports have come in from Landing citizens claiming to have found a variety of items lying around on the ground, littering the streets. Whether it was out of greed or concern for the city's cleanliness, many individuals have picked up the items. The items range from shiny belt buckles to sparkling cloak clasps. However, unbeknownst to these unsuspecting citzens, a deadly spell was infused into the items that once activated would engulf the wearer in flames! Despite growing increase in reports, it seems people are still repeating their same mistakes. So, on behalf of the constable and the fair-minded people of Wehnimer's Landing, please be careful when picking up random items off of the streets. While no one will argue against anyone trying to clean the city up, we can't have people burning alive in the middle of the streets! It's bad for business and sort of creepy! Meanwhile, the constable and his deputies have released a preliminary report detailing a supposed suspect's description. A few witness reports have supported the theory that a short Dark Elven wizard bedecked in pink clothing has been seen frequently observing the locations in question. All submissions should involve factual events. We will accept no silly nursery stories, histories or educational articles about the weather. If you would like to submit an article along those lines, please do so to our sister publication, the Elanthian Times.
