| Warmly lit by crystal lamps, the airy pavilion is filled with vibrant colors. Rugs scattered over the ground are woven with jade, teal, and sapphire hues in elaborate knotwork designs. A carved rosewood rack filled with instruments stands to one side. Polished to a high sheen, a table ornately carved with flowering vines is centered on the carpets as a focal point in the large space.

On the table you see: an etched leopardwood zither inlaid with slivers of jade, a polished flame birch psaltery with tiny vaalin pins, an elegant tigerwood lyre etched with tiny leaves, a flame maple harp etched with a vine and leaf pattern, and a canarywood dulcimer inlaid with bits of obsidian.
On the rack you see: a polished snakewood mandolin inlaid with mother-of-pearl, a birdseye maple theorbo etched with blooming roses, a lacquered white oak lute inlaid with faenor, a dark walnut cittern painted with wood violets, and a rich cherry burl ayr inlaid with tiny sapphire roses.
