Subject: On a Bed of Cold Stone
Her lids fluttered, the lashes brushing against her pale cheeks and disrupting the dust that clung to the cold tiles beneath her. She felt groggy, parched, and cold. Licking her lips, she lifted her head causing her long tresses to tumble over her shoulder and onto the temple floor. A slow grin spread across her features.
Dust was in the temple.
Planting her hands beneath her, she pushed herself into a sitting position, letting her elesine robes pool around her. She held her hand out into the light that was slanting in from a window high up in the structure and frowned slightly.
Where was the mist? After all her careful planning had she lost? Had she failed him?
Exhaling, she closed her eyes and issued a short prayer. She felt the power of him rush to her, the way that others of the cloth had always described to her, and reveled in the power.
He was free.
He was in the world.
And he was answering prayers.
