Into the Squall (storyline)/2026-06-19 - A Spiritcaller's Caution (log)
A Spiritcaller's Caution
Spiritcaller Dieudonnee was found staring out at the bay on the Marshtown Shoreline. She greeted folks kindly and these are the words that were shared.
Missoni cheerfully greets, "Spiritcaller."
You greet, "Bacthwynn."
Speaking to you, Missoni asks, "Are you well?"
You say, "Well an' hale in body, sure enough. But my mind done got itself turned around."
Speaking to Guarrin, Kothos says, "Thank you for the conveyance, Sir Guarrin."
Speaking to Kothos, Guarrin says, "My pleasure."
Speaking warmly to you, Kothos says, "Sister Dieudonnee, good evening."
Missoni cheerfully greets, "Fair eve, friends."
Cryheart says, "Good evening, Dieudonnae."
You say, "Greetin's t' each o' ye in turn on dis foul, weather-filled night. Glad t' see folk still findin' dey way through it."
Speaking quietly to Missoni, Kothos murmurs, "I am sorry about the gallery."
Speaking to you, Perigourd says, "Inch by inch."
Speaking to Kothos, Missoni whispers aloud, "Oh, thank you. We are well, it just seems imprudent to ...ecourage visitors."
Speaking quietly to Missoni, Kothos says, "It is most wise, and your neighbors appreciate your thoughtfulness."
Speaking to you, Delindra says, "It is a very challenging time to traverse anywhere."
Speaking to Missoni, Perigourd says, "These storms are all the wya to Ta'Vaalor."
Speaking to you, Puptilian asks, "Wouldn't it be better next to a fire inside?"
Speaking to Perigourd, Missoni says, "I ran into them the other day."
Speaking to Perigourd, Guarrin asks, "Truly?"
Speaking to Guarrin, Perigourd says, "Not great fishing because of it."
You slowly say, "Dem storms ain' right, mark my words. Nothin' good come o' weather like dis. Otherworldly, mayhap, but it ain' o' Charl. No, no. Tsk, tsk. Dis ain't Charl's doin'."
Speaking to Perigourd, Kothos says, "Indeed. I just arrived from Ornath, the oceans are in a complete upheaval."
Speaking worriedly to you, Delindra asks, "Have you had an inkling of where it does originate?"
Speaking to Puptilian, you say, "Better t' be out in de foul weather an' know what comin' than be surprised by it sittin' safe at de hearth."
Everall concernedly says, "...not at all..."
Bakarus says, "I had no idea they were so widespread. I've sheltered in the temples for days now."
Speaking wryly to you, Kothos says, "You aren't wrong."
Speaking to you, Puptilian says, "Very fair and wise view."
Speaking slowly to Delindra, you say, "Far off, beyond de reach o' dis Spiritcaller."
Kothos says, "We live in challenging times."
Speaking to you, Puptilian says, "But I will at least keep my ranger resist going to keep off some of the code."
Khobra innocently continues, "Interezting timez."
Puptilian says, "Cold."
Missoni asks, "Do you suppose we can do anything to calm them?"
Speaking amusedly to Puptilian, you say, "I ha'e my ways."
Speaking to Missoni, Kothos says, "There was a moment of eery stillness, on the waters, a short while ago."
Jisandra quietly says, "It is worrisome. Right now is prime planting and cultivating time. But..."
Speaking to Missoni, Kothos says, "But it did not last long."
Speaking to Kothos, Missoni says, "I suppose not..."
Speaking to you, Puptilian says, "Love to learn more when we are not in such times."
You thoughtfully say, "Saw dat girl what come from de other island. Mind all scrambled up, feelin' like she got t' flee. I remember her when she was just a babe. Always sweet, always takin' a fancy t' de sailors. Now she can' even remember her own name."
Bakarus says, "Sisters."
Cryheart says, "Tis a shame."
Perigourd asks, "Does she remember any name?"
Missoni worriedly asks, "She was out of sorts. Do you think she can be healed, in time?"
Guarrin asks, "Hrm, who was this?"
Speaking to Missoni, Raelee says, "That likely depends on the specific cause."
Cryheart asks, "Ye know what caused her mind to be idled?"
Speaking to Cryheart, Puptilian says, "That figure in robes said it was "her" gift that caused it."
Puptilian says, "That she wasn't fit enough to accept it."
Speaking quietly to you, Kothos asks, "...were you able to tell anything about her...mental health, by chance?"
Speaking to Missoni, you say, "Storms? Or tha' girl? I don' think we gon' be seein' dis weather much longer. Some o' me an' my kind been puttin' enough energy into de air t' set it right. Nature got a way o preservin' itself when given half a chance."
Thrassus asks, "Are we discussing that poor drugged woman?"
You say, "Nae drugged."
Speaking to you, Missoni says, "Well, both."
Speaking to you, Kothos says, "We don't know what happened, but if you do..."
Speaking to you, Raelee asks, "... putting energy into the air to set it right. Elaborate on that?"
Speaking to you, Kothos says, "I was sorry we were not able to do more for her, when she was found."
Thrassus says, "Oh, come now. I have seen better stage illusionists than that show this 'Herald' put on the other evening."
Speaking knowingly to Raelee, Perigourd says, "Magick."
You say, "Nae all the tales be fer tha' Magisters."
Speaking to Thrassus, Guarrin says, "Seems I've missed a new herald."
Speaking to you, Raelee asks, "And who are they for, then?"
Speaking to Thrassus, you say, "Not a trace o' drug nor liquor on her. No. Dis be somethin' what took from her. Ain' replaced nothin', neither. Just soaked it up an' carried it away."
Thrassus says, "Hrm."
Cryheart asks, "They take away her spirit?"
Speaking to you, Perigourd asks, "Do you think it can be restored?"
Speaking to Perigourd, you say, "Mayhap in time."
Khobra innocently repeats, "Perhapz.. in time."
Speaking to Guarrin, Thrassus says, "This supposed herald wore bright purple robes and acted like some over enthusiastic carnival barker."
Speaking to you, Kothos says, "We found several victims of this Inquisitor, but they didn't seem to have a physical injury. We tried to return them to their homes, once we ascertained where those where."
Speaking amusedly to Thrassus, Missoni says, "That is an apt description."
Thrassus says, "I wasn't impressed."
Speaking to Thrassus, Guarrin says, "We have seen our share of heralds, I suppose there are all types."
Thrassus says, "I suppose."
Speaking quietly to Guarrin, Delindra says, "...most of us are nice..."
Cryheart says, "This circumstance is intriguing but concerning as well."
Missoni murmurs, "The robes were nice, though."
You cryptically say, "Be careful o' de bargains ye make. Nothin' good come o' dis. Not if dis be what it do t' common folk."
Thrassus says, "I am anything but common, luckily."
Speaking to you, Perigourd says, "One doesn't often like to barter with demons."
Whistfylle says, "Hello, everyone."
Speaking to you, Puptilian says, "We were told we should be..worthy of the gift. No idea how much I trust it right away though..."
Speaking innocently to you, Khobra inquires, "Vhat id the deal made, through a clever plot?"
Speaking to Perigourd, Bakarus asks, "No?"
You say, "Dun thin its tha'."
Speaking to Khobra, you say, "Nae sure yet."
Speaking to you, Raelee says, "While one should approach it with questions and caution, they did seem to imply that their status as so 'common' was a part of the difficulties."
Speaking to you, Raelee says, "Greater strength, whether it be physical or magical, may be necessary to withstand... whatever it is that occurred."
Speaking to Raelee, Perigourd says, "They could also be lying."
Speaking softly to Raelee, Khobra counters, "It could be a mental battle."
Speaking cryptically to Raelee, you say, "When de honey be at its sweetest, dat be when de hornets gather thickest an de price sit at its highest."
Whistfylle says, "I'm rather looking forward to it, myself. I have wandered some strange paths in my mind with Lady Zelia."
Meril says, "There is an old tale among the Rosengift gnomes that Mother Imaera took away the wits of their cavern cousins, for asking her the wrong question."
Speaking to Perigourd, Raelee says, "Hence the need for questions and caution."
Speaking to you, Guarrin asks, "Is this something she agreed to then?"
Speaking to Perigourd, Raelee says, "I take nothing they have said at face value."
Vivaldi says, "Ah ain't shore ah'm wantin' ta git hornt swarm stung."
Speaking to Kippe, Jaired says, "Well hello there, stranger."
Speaking to Missoni, Meril says, "I am not inclined to believe it myself, but it is a famous fable."
Speaking to Vivaldi, Whistfylle says, "You like my wasps."
Jisandra quietly says, "Even if she... agreed... it would be natural to wonder whether she knew what she was agreeing to."
Speaking to Jaired, Kippe greets, "Do you come here often?"
Speaking to Meril, Missoni says, "Perhaps a cautionary tale."
Jaired flirtatiously says, "Only when the drinks are free."
Speaking to Guarrin, you ask, "She may have, but unwittin'ly. I think, though I can' say fer certain, dat she may have been led t' believe somethin' altogether different. For who willingly give up so many pieces o' demselves?"
Speaking to Kippe, Lissaya says, "Better give him one too."
Delindra worriedly says, "I wonder if we could... bargain... to get back what she has lost..."
Cryheart asks, "An offer of power for a part of the soul?"
Speaking to Jaired, Kothos asks, "Is that your way of asking me for a cocktail?"
Speaking to you, Puptilian says, "You be surprise what some will give up for more power."
Speaking curiously to you, Khobra inquires, "Are the people vithin Zol'haven zuffering headacez?"
Speaking to Kippe, Kothos says, "You're good."
Speaking to Kothos, Jaired says, "It may've been."
Speaking to Lissaya, Kippe assures, "I have more for you."
Speaking amusedly to Kothos, Lissaya says, "He takes his job very seriously."
Khobra innocently continues, "From the veather?"
Speaking dryly to Khobra, Raelee says, "... most days."
Weedwitch says, "I like power."
Speaking to Lissaya, Kothos says, "I know the feeling."
Jaired says, "The fishkey does grow on you after a while."
Speaking to Raelee, Delindra offers, "We keep some good headache cures on-hand at Cholen's Temple."
Speaking slowly to Kothos, Kippe mouths, "A lot of practice."
Speaking to Khobra, you say, "I don' much tend t' de folk inside town. Mostly it be Marshfolk what come seekin' me out. Sargassa sought me dis time, though. We got a habit o' sharin' remedies an' cures when de need arise."
Speaking to an ethereal blue-eyed black cat, Perigourd says, "One does appreciate things that grow."
Delindra adds, "Some of the tavern minstrels imbibe too much, and, well..."
Speaking to Delindra, Raelee says, "... thus headaches."
Speaking to Delindra, Kothos says, "A very prudent stock, then."
Speaking warmly to you, Khobra expresses, ".. and the people velcome you into zuch.. a fine pozition."
Speaking quietly to Delindra, Kothos says, "We keep around a few charcoal biscuits and tonic, ourselves."
You cryptically say, "I should gather some shadesbane. Better t' have it afore it be needed than go lookin' fer it after."
Speaking to Whistfylle, Puptilian says, "He looked left. I just pointed his gaze down."
Jisandra asks, "What does that do?"
Speaking to you, Perigourd asks, "Shadesbane?"
Speaking to Perigourd, Jaired says, "If I were to guess, it's the bane of shade."
Speaking to Jaired, Perigourd says, "Wolfsbane doens't fend off wolves."
Speaking to Perigourd, Kippe says, "I've never heard of it."
Speaking confusedly to Jaired, Delindra asks, "Phoen?"
Perigourd says, "Though perhaps this is more practically named."
Speaking to Perigourd, Jaired asks, "Maybe it glows?"
Speaking to Kippe, Perigourd says, "Nor I."
Speaking to Perigourd, you say, "It has many times, but tha's what we call it in de Marsh."
Cryheart says, "Always best to prepare for certain circumstances."
Speaking to himself, Kippe murmurs, "... shadesbane."
Speaking to you, Perigourd says, "Perhaps you could show us where it grows sometime, I'd be interested to know more about it."
Khobra whispers, "=inquire have you felt anything az of late, concern.. vorry.. headachez?"
Speaking to Perigourd, Thrassus asks, "Going to put in it that fish booze?"
Speaking to Thrassus, Perigourd says, "One doesn't alter perfection."
Thrassus says, "Of course."
Perigourd says, "But I'm always considering new libations."
Speaking to Thrassus, Puptilian says, "So the answer is yes."
Speaking to Perigourd, you say, "If we be graced wit' sunlight on Restday, mayhap ye'll learn more 'bout it. Dat be de traditional harvest time, when Phoen sit at de height o' his power. In Kannalan, well, mixed up wit' a bit o' Elven, it be called Sylara'wor."
Bakarus says, "Praise Phoen."
Khobra curiously notes, "Interezting."
Speaking slowly to himself, Guarrin repeats, "Sylara'wor."
Meril repeats, "Sylara'wor... that is quite a rare herb, I had not known it grew here."
Speaking warmly to you, Kothos says, "I am grateful for the chance to come observe the rite."
Speaking to Meril, Perigourd says, "Perhaps we haven't chanced the right time of cultivation. We'll have to be apt on Restday and hope for the right circumstances."
You say, "Startin' in yon temple."
Speaking to Amathea, Weedwitch says, "Reminds me of an almighty sea slug."
Speaking quietly to Everall, Kothos says, "This time of year should be full of fisherfolk, out there."
Whistfylle asks, "Is it time, then?"
You ask, "Ah well, mark my words. Nothin' good can come o' dis. But if ye must go, then go wit' a blessin'. Shall I give ye one?"
Speaking to Everall, Kothos says, "Gathering up the last catch of yellowfin, for the day."
Puptilian says, "Please."
Speaking to you, Perigourd says, "If you'd be so kind."
Speaking to you, Missoni says, "It would be appreciated."
Cryheart says, "Certainly."
Maevie says, "Please."
Bakarus says, "Quite blessed, already."
Bakarus says, "One never wants to overdo good fortune."
Speaking to Bakarus, Weedwitch says, "You kinda need a rez."
You softly intone, "Niima, guardian o' Solhaven, Vornavis, an' Marshfolk wherever dey may wander, hear me an' grant dis blessin'. Watch over de folk what seek t' find de source o' dis unnatural storm. Guide 'em clear o' de wrath o' yer Father, so dat though dey venture into a false show o' his power, dey do not earn his ire. Keep watch, quiet an' steady, over dem what leave dis shore. Let 'em find dey way home again wit' every piece o' who dey are still carried safe within 'em."
Kothos says, "Amen."
Cryheart says, "Thank ye, Spirit Caller."
Maevie says, "Thank you."
Puptilian says, "Thank you."
Speaking to you, Guarrin says, "Thank you."
Missoni murmurs, "Thank you."
Whistfylle says, "Appreciated."
Meril says, "One should also remember, as the winged folk found to their sorrow, that the blessings of the gods of Elanthia may not endure for long in other planes. Thank you, and may this aid us for the time that we need."
Speaking respectfully to you, Everall says, "Thank ye kindly."
Speaking to Regwen, Puptilian asks, "You ready to see what there is to see?"
Khobra whispers, ".. if, only curious in the question, if I vish to speak to the unknown.. would I secretive speak to you.. to meet with them.. a playful question of course. We can only know the goal of the foe if we speak to them face to face."
You say, "Go on now t' meet yer fates. I got other work t' tend t' dis night. May de tides carry ye true."
Jisandra says, "Be well, Spiritcaller."
Speaking to you, Perigourd says, "Fair eve, and good luck."
Speaking to you, Missoni wishes, "Fair eve."
Speaking respectfully to you, Everall says, "Until we are brought back together."
