Malaphor (presumably Malaphor Ashrim) was a royal mage in the Ashrim court at the time of the Faendryl-Ashrim War, approximately five thousand years before present day. After the destruction of Ta'Ashrim, he fled with other refugees to Ruin Creek, carrying with him a puzzle box containing the spirit of Daephron Illian.
Some time near the present day, Malaphor succeeded in unsealing the puzzle box, but this attracted the attention of Vvrael agents who attacked Ruin Creek. Malaphor was killed in the attack, but managed to send his apprentice to Wehnimer's Landing through a Familiar Gate. His ghost made several appearances to guide adventurers to successfully retrieve the box and allow Daephron's spirit to warn the world about the Vvrael.
