Sunday, November 6, 2022 -- MHOs Missing Requirements

This is current as of November 6, 2022. I would like to stress that as the MHO GM, I do not like taking action against any MHO. However, it is unfair to the GMs to have to nag people to complete minimal requirements, and it is, more importantly, unfair to the myriad MHOs who do not require such handholding, as this burden can take away from activities that may fall upon them.

Going forward, while I may post an informational reminder, it is going to be incumbent upon the MHOs to check their status and reach out proactively to the MHO GM. After this, I will more than likely not post the list of MHOs in jeopardy, but will take appropriate actions in January.

Also note, if you are on this list, but your main events are typically in December, don't worry -- as long as you're current by 12/31, you're fine!

Renowned Tier Actions:

  • Dropped to Prominent Tier
  • Loss of calendar items
  • Loss of prize closet items, if applicable (single insignia item only)
  • Loss of structure, if applicable

Prominent Tier Actions:

  • Placed into Inactivity in MHO system
  • 60 days to reach out to MHO GM and make arrangements for reactivation
  • 60 additional days to meet reactivation requirements
  • Failure to meet requirements will result in permanent removal

Special Handling Notes:
For several of these MHOs, this is not the first year for this issue. As such, they may be subjected to more stringent actions, especially if they are failing to meet negotiated requirements for a previous issue.

MHOs in Jeopardy:
Council of Dark Elves: 0/2 events
Coterie of the Swan: 1/2 events
Eye of Elanthia: 0/1 events (under special handling)
Legions of BACON: 0/3 events (under special handling)
Dire Wolf Clan: 0/2 events, lack of members
Black Iron Chalice: 1/3 events (under special handling)
Regulators of the Northern Frontier: 0/2
Greystorm Society of Enlightenment: 1/2
Dae'randir: 1/3 (under special handling)
Landing Defense Irregulars: 1/2
Stormwild Hall: 1/2
Fenog's Regulars: 0/2
Wyvern's Honor: 0/2
Order of the Shadow: 1/2
ICICLE: 0/2 (1 on calendar for December already)
Ilyan Syndicate: 1/2
HERT: 0/1

Sunday, November 6, 2022 -- MHO EVENT REQUIREMENTS

Just a reminder, there are less than 2 months left in the year to get your event and membership requirements completed. Several MHOs have not met their requirements yet. You can check your event counts with the MHO clerks; MHOs must have a minimum of 5 members. If you think your count is wrong or if you have extenuating circumstances and wish to make a request for exemption, please reach out to the MHO GM at gs4-mho@play.net.

Failure to meet requirements will result in the MHO being inactivated in January while the MHO GM discusses requirements with the affected MHO officers. Permanent loss of MHO status may result.

Tuesday, November 1, 2022 -- MHO APPLICATIONS OPENED FOR 30 DAYS

Saturday, April 2, 2022 - MHOs: Updates on Membership Minimums & Inactivity + One-Time Reactivation Opportunity

We've been reviewing the MHO guidelines and found a few areas we thought were clarified but were not, so we're taking this opportunity to do so. Information is below, and the MHO Guide is being updated accordingly.

Minimum Membership Requirements
Each MHO must maintain at least five (5) members. If membership slips below five, you will need to work to get more members. The MHO GM will give you at least three (3) months to do so upon discovery, after which time, your MHO will be removed from the system. As always, the MHO GM will work with you, and there can be special, extenuating circumstances allowing for additional leeway here.

2022 Exception: For 2022, since we are just announcing this, you have until the end of the year to get your membership up to a minimum of 5 members.

Inactivity Rule Update
Under the old system, MHOs could ask to be set inactive and could then reactivate later. We are updating this language to be more clear. Going forward, an MHO can request a one-year suspension of MHO requirements. Inactivity grants are on a calendar year basis. At any point, you can request an early end to an inactivity status, and you will be granted MHO system access again. However, you must also meet all requirements for the year. You cannot be inactive for more than one year. MHOs will automatically be placed back in the MHO system at the end of their inactivity period, and normal requirements will apply.

An MHO should not request inactivity more than once. Again, however, on a case-by-case basis, a second, non-consecutive time may be granted.

Example:

  • Current year: You know you will not be able to meet 2022's requirements. You reach out to the MHO GM and are granted an exemption for 2022 requirements. For the remainder of 2022, you do not have access to the MHO system. Starting in 2023, you will be placed back in the system.
  • Upcoming year: You suspect 2023 will be rough, so you reach out to the MHO GM in advance and are granted an exemption for 2023 requirements. You will meet 2022 requirements, and for 2023, you will not have access to the MHO system. Starting in 2024, you will be placed back in the system.

Being placed as inactive means:

  • No access to the MHO Halls or their systems (tent rentals, etc.)
  • No access to your MHO structure
  • No event requirements for the time period

ONE-TIME REACTIVATION OPPORTUNITY
There are a handful of MHOs showing under the inactive list that we believe requested inactivity (versus failed to meet requirements). Since it was fairly nebulous how long you could stay at inactive and still expect to reactivate in the past, we are offering a one-time opportunity for reactivation for the MHOs listed below. Members/Officers must reach out to me by October 1, 2022 with a request to reactivate. Failure to do so means the inactive MHO will be permanently removed from the MHO system.

How to Request Reactivation:

  1. Email the MHO GM at GS4-MHO@PLAY.NET and include [MHO Reactivation](MHO Name) in the subject
    • Provide the MHO officer names and contact information
    • Request reactivation
  2. Once reactivated, meet all 2022 requirements for Prominent tier
    • 1 qualifying event
    • Minimum of five members
    • If this is met, then in 2023, you will be considered Renowned tier again, and if you have a structure, it will be reopened
    • Prize closet access will also be restored under the current prize closet requirements

Eligible Inactive MHOs

  • Greater Elanthian Merchant Society
  • Clan Jakarta
  • Clan Snar
  • Alliance of High Elven Society
  • Haven Emergency Resource Team
  • Elanthian Performance Troupe
  • Gypsy Troupe

2022-03-23: MHO Wiki Pages Being Revamped

MHO wiki pages are being revamped, with the main page locked down as official documentation and new sub-pages being created. The goal will be to have the Ultimate MHO Guide moved from the external website onto the wiki. This is all a work-in-progress, so bear with the me! ~Xynwen, MHO GM, gs4-mho@play.net Update: Completed, 2022-03-24
