Ivastaen 6, 5123: Ta'Illistim. Inquisitors interviewed Leisette and Thaiagol; Aendir and Mirkk were interviewed privately. This log contains only the interviews from the evening.

[Hall of Justice, Hallway]
Ivory-weighted banners of pavonated silk are suspended high above the silver-gilt staircase, the muted fabric embroidered in peahens framed by arabesque-beaded plumage. A duo of heavy-handled doors stand below the curved ascent, each haon-crafted panel flanked by an armored member of the Sapphire Guard standing still above the cool stone floor. The sounds of footsteps echo throughout the hall, followed by the muffled sounds of whispers from behind the chamber beyond. You also see a tall silver-gilt arch leading back to the hall.

You see Mistress Leisette the Right Hand of Family Eilstina.
She appears to be a Nalfein Elf.
She is very tall and has a willowy frame. She appears to be youthful. She has heavily kohl-outlined, amber-haloed forest green eyes and ivory skin. She has long, thick silver hair drawn back into an ebon braid-bound ponytail of sleek, flat-ironed lengths. She has a delicate face, a pointed nose and prominent collarbones. She has matte black pigments darkening her lips, with a glossy hunter green band gracing both lips beneath her philtrum.
She is in good shape.
She is wearing a faenor-chained intaglio azurite pendant, a narrow-waisted and alum boned half-corset of glossy dark leather panels over a high-collared and sleeveless inky black tatted overgown of wide-knit roses with an off-shoulder dark green shift with bloused sleeves underneath, a raven-feathered fan slatted in ebon-washed haon, and a pair of high-heeled ebon suede knee-boots side-laced in hunter green.

You see Thaiagol Razan-Dhur Illistim the Master of Lore.
He appears to be an Elf.
He is quite tall. He appears to be advanced in years. He has pale hazel green eyes and wrinkled skin. He has immaculate, thick white hair combed back into an unforgiving wave. He has a long face, a severe nose and a bushy eyebrows that are a shade darker than his hair.
He is in good shape.
He is wearing a pair of gilded spectacles with circular lenses, a high-collared peacock green velvet robe graced with cerulean geometric designs at the breast over a loose white silk shirt with frills of lace at the neck and wrists, a luxuriant cerulean satin sash with sunny golden stitching, some gold-buttoned dark green breeches, and a pair of navy blue leather boots adorned with green sigils.

You see Master Inquisitor Ciradyl Datoris Illistim.
She appears to be an Elf.
She is taller than average and has a lithesome, nimble build. She appears to be of full age. She has long-lashed, piercing slate blue eyes and unblemished alabastrine skin. She has long, smooth stark white hair shaved along the temples, leaving a side-swept veil of asymmetric fringe to partially conceal her face. She has an angular face and upswept ears tapering into sharp points. A single lapis-inked line graces her bottom lip, traversing to the curve of her chin.
An open vellum-paged tome glides behind her, followed by a curled pale silver quill. The duo drift close to her hands, the book flipping pages quickly as it responds to her voice.
She is in good shape.
She is wearing a leather-crafted gorget affixed to twin pauldrons of albino peahen feathers, a trio of sapphire-washed silk robes bound by an underbust corset of silvered mesh with a slim-fitted white leather bodysuit underneath, and a pair of vampless pale leather ankle-boots lofted on fluted heels.

Thaiagol says, "It will be good to have this dispensed with in a more formal manner."
Ciradyl apologetically says, "Pardon the late arrival, I was just finishing a few notes."
Leisette says, "I doubt anyone is in a rush, Inquisitor."
Vaelynsa wanders in.
Speaking to Ciradyl, Teveriel says, "One must be thorough, after all."
Thaiagol takes a moment to observe Ciradyl.
Vaelynsa nods her head in greeting.
Speaking politely to Aeriadrn, Agathilea says, "Good afternoon."
Aeriadrn says, "Good day."
Syearris gives a sidelong glance at Leisette.
Aeriadrn nods.
Speaking amusedly to Leisette, Ciradyl says, "Our Master of Lore does appear to have the opposite opinion."

You see Inquisitor Vaelynsa Davalion Illistim.
She appears to be an Elf.
She is exceptionally tall and has a lithe frame. It is difficult to determine her age as a featureless ebony mask covers most of her features, though her viridian-striated ianthine eyes can be seen in the eye slits. She has shoulder-length, lustrously thick mahogany hair with artistically unruly viridian, violet, and ultramarine spirals.
She is in good shape.
She is wearing a darkened gold choker inset with a rose-cut ice blue shimmarglin sapphire, a peacock blue velvet cloak lined with gold-threaded ivory silk, an incarnadine ebon-corsetted velvet gown with atrous sea silk underskirts, a pair of sheer dark silk stockings, and a pair of incarnadine silk and widowwood heels.

Leisette says, "There are moments when moving faster should happen, but never should anything be rushed."
Ciradyl says, "I heard mention that a few of our Western...visitors thought otherwise, but we are nothing but thorough."
Syearris nods slightly at Ciradyl.
Speaking to Ciradyl, Thaiagol says, "I am similarly in no haste. I simply find the fog of distrust distasteful. The best way to dispel such a fog is sunlight."
Ciradyl politely clears her throat, causing her tome to jump as though startled.
Ciradyl nods in agreement at Thaiagol.
Ciradyl says, "But please, make yourselves comfortable through the arch and up the staircase, we have refreshments and seating for those who have yet to attend a session."
Ciradyl glances between Leisette and Thaiagol.
Ciradyl says, "And for those who will be questioned, please see yourselves through the arch, the doors, then the imflass door while we wait."

[Observation Room]
Mahogany-framed chairs of burnt crimson velvet are arranged before the silver-washed railing, their wyvern-carved legs resting against the marbled ivory floor. Heavy curtains are draped across the ceiling-high windows, obscuring the light through layers of ivory-on-gold brocade, the fabric pooling below a lacquered lasimor table affixed in the far corner. A spherical eahnor lantern emanates a soft glow across the table's surface, providing a faint modicum of light.
Also here: Telhum, Lady in Waiting Lynaera, Lady Avawren who is sitting, Tikba who is sitting, Missoni, Perigourd, Kothos who is sitting, Sirona who is sitting, Sir Guarrin, Squire Gasen who is sitting, Lady Uniana who is sitting, Lord Teveriel who is sitting
Obvious exits: southeast, southwest

You quietly move your chair closer to the silver-washed railing, lowering yourself into the velvet-padded seat.
Gazing into the railing, you see...

[The Mirrored Chamber]
The open-air chamber is framed in a quartet of mirrored walls, the partitions casting reflected images of the heavy-handled doors flanked by silver-throated vases filled with pale irises. An elongated table of lacquered glowbark stands at the center of the room, the desk encircled by a grouping of silk-cushioned chairs, each one facing the blued imflass door set below the observation railings above. A single scale of electrum-chained cloisonne sits in the middle of the table, its surface traced in a feather-like motif.
Also here: Inquisitor Vaelynsa, Master Inquisitor Ciradyl, Inquisitor Syearris, Lord Aeriadrn
Obvious exits: none

Aeriadrn nods.
Vaelynsa steps back from the group, nodding to Ciradyl and saying "I shall bring her in."
Inquisitor Vaelynsa just went through a multi-locked blued imflass door.
Syearris gazes at a multi-locked blued imflass door.
Inquisitor Vaelynsa's group just came through a multi-locked blued imflass door.
Aeriadrn pens a few lines on his parchment.
Vaelynsa says, "Have a seat please."
Vaelynsa nods.
Leisette slowly approaches the silk-cushioned chair, her steps echoing against the marble floor as she sits down.
Speaking to Leisette, Vaelynsa says, ""For the Hall of Records, could you please state your name, where you are from, and your profession of choice."
Leisette dispassionately smooths the folds of her gown.
Leisette says, "Mistress Leisette of Ta'Nalfein, the Right Hand of Family Eilstina."
Vaelynsa nods.
Vaelynsa asks, "And what brings you to our Shining City?"
Leisette says, "I was invited along with several deligates. Since the invitation happened last summer to my Mistress, we thought it best that as her guard, right hand, and vanguard I should arrive ahead of time to ensure things were prepared for her arrival. I have been here nearly a year."
Vaelynsa says, "That is quite a long time. Enough to perhaps sow discord and malconent."
Leisette folds her hands in her lap.
Vaelynsa asks, "Do tell me, what are your opinions on the late Lady Malwind?"
Leisette smiles politely, her head inclining slightly.

Lord Eruien just arrived.
Uniana appreciatively greets, "Living Canvas."
Eruien winks at Uniana.
Tikba nods politely at Eruien.
Teveriel says, "Lord Lithavir, glad you could join us."
Teveriel nods at Eruien.
Eruien asks, "Did I miss much?"
Eruien quietly moves his chair closer to the silver-washed railing as he sits down.
Teveriel says, "The questioning has just begun."
Avawren says, "No, just the opening the needling."

You see Lord Eruien Lithavir Loenthra the Living Canvas and Most Esteemed Representative of Ta'Loenthra.
He appears to be an Elf.
He is tall and has a lithe body. He appears to be young and robust. He has subtly tilted azure-flecked, sea green eyes and unlined pale skin. He has shoulder-length, silky ginger hair drawn on the left side into a pair of intertwined braids. He has a long, softly angled face, a straight nose and broad shoulders.
He is in good shape.
He is wearing a silver satin half-cape secured over one shoulder with a triple-tiered chain, a dark brocaded waist cincher with floriated silver boning over a dusky lavender shirt open-laced down the sides, a series of various argent rings, a pair of slim-cut violet pants, and a pair of charcoal grey suede boots cuffed below the knees.

Aeriadrn observes the questioning as he takes notes, his hand moving quickly over the parchment.
Leisette says, "Lady Malwind was a lovely woman, both strong and fierce in her convictions. I grew to be fond of her fevor and though invitation of her Reflection, I was able to know both them of them well. Their closeness was remarkable given their incredibly differing lives."
Syearris furrows his brow.
Vaelynsa says, "Ah yes, their closeness."
Vaelynsa asks, "What is Ta'Nalfein's stance on the closeness of the Lady Malwind to the policies of Her Reflection?"

Eruien frowns.
Uniana mildly says, "A bold question to ask someone in service."

Leisette says, "How the Shining City conducts their affairs if of little interest to the family I work for, though I would imagine that if you wish to know of Ta'Nalfein's stance you'd want to inquire of someone closer to the throne than I."

Eruien says, "Unsurprising. They have not shown restraint in their questions in the past."
Speaking in Elven, Kothos says, "Did she ask Leisette's superior the same? I do not think so."
Gasen says, "One must be bold in these situations."
Uniana confidently says, "And she responds perfectly in kind."
Avawren says, "It's hardly a question she could answer even if she were inclined to."

Syearris raises an eyebrow.
Speaking to Vaelynsa, Syearris asks, "May I?"
Vaelynsa says, "But of course."
Vaelynsa leans casually against the wall, watching the scene closely.
Aeriadrn taps his stylus against his chin before making a note.
Speaking to Leisette, Syearris remarks, "For someone whose hiring family is allegedly so disinterested in the affairs of the Shining City... I must say, you seem to simply be everywhere there is trouble."
Leisette casually rests an elbow upon the armrest of the chair and, drawing a strand of hair over her shoulder, toes with the ends with an expression of polite boredom.
Leisette asks, "Was there a question there, Inquisitor?"
Speaking to Leisette, Syearris says, "I am getting there. Patience."
Leisette smiles politely, inclining her head with a casual air.
Speaking to Leisette, Syearris says, "You've been noted not only mingling with the people involved in the "affairs" here, but also in that of Ta'Vaalor, as well."
Sirona folds her arms over her chest.
Syearris asks, "So, if your family has such little interest in these affairs, why are you seemingly so heavily involved in them?"
Syearris raises an eyebrow in Leisette's direction.
Ciradyl notes, "You were also seen west of the Dragonspine, on several occasions."
Speaking to herself, Vaelynsa says, "Quite a traveler."
Aeriadrn writes a few notes quickly across his parchment.
Leisette says, "As a servant, I am able to pass as others may not. When the improperly imprisoned Master of Spies for Ta'Vaalor requested aid for a clandestine meeting, who else would they seek but one that can slip in and out of places without being questioned? Mostly, those that see a servant pay us no mind...." She grins ruefully. "Unless we are wearing amazing gowns."
Leisette lightly says, "I do own a few."
Syearris whispers something to Ciradyl.
Syearris nods slowly.
Leisette says, "As for the Dragonspine, I did not know I was constrained to staying upon one side of the mountain."
Leisette says, "The air is lovely in the west once the rains leave."
Vaelynsa says, "When representing those you represent, a few good gowns is a small price to pay, I am sure."
Vaelynsa says, "Couture aside, it has been noted where your presence seems...highly coincidental, let us say."
Ciradyl calmly agrees, "Just merely an observation, we would have thought that Lady Eilstina would require her right hand as she traverses our inquiry."
Vaelynsa says, "Explain the events of the evening of Lady Malwind's untoward demise."
Vaelynsa says, "From your perspective of course."
Leisette says, "Certain, Master Inquisitor."
Vaelynsa says, "Spare us no detail, leave no beslippered movement unturned."
Aeriadrn nods.
Leisette says, "I was wearing an amazing mustard yellow ensemble, it had some incredibly nice contrasting shades of black with a yellow jacket theme."
Leisette says, "The insect mind you, not that I would be so uncouth as to wear a yellow jacket to a gala."
Syearris glances at Vaelynsa.
Vaelynsa says, "Quite a poisonously delightful ensemble, I am sure."
Syearris whispers something to Vaelynsa.
Vaelynsa winks at Syearris.
Leisette says, "One does dress to arrest the heart at these things."
Ciradyl murmurs, "Interesting choice of words."
Vaelynsa asks, "And perhaps the hearts of others?"
Vaelynsa asks, "Like honored guests?"
Leisette asks, "I would certainly hope to curry favor with those abroad, otherwise I would be a poor right-hand, hmm?"

Eruien says, "I would probably avoid looking at someone who showed up to a ball in all bright yellow."

Leisette asks, "Shall I continue?"
Leisette folds her hands in her lap.
Vaelynsa says, "Yes, but we can perhaps skip the dressing details."
Vaelynsa nods.
Leisette says, "As you wish. You did ask for observations, but I am happy to move beyond those."
Vaelynsa says, "Observations pertinent to the situation at hand."
Vaelynsa says, "So if there is that to be found within the dressing, yes, do continue."
Leisette says, "There were several guests from the west, as well as our varied delegates and persons of prestige from here in the east."
Vaelynsa nods.
Leisette says, "I believe there must have been some kind of diaretic in the punch, for after thirty minutes, guests began filtering in and out. One supposes to touch up their make up."
Vaelynsa asks, "Any stand out in particular that left frequently or unnecessarily?"
Leisette says, "I excused myself to find a mirror as well, though returned quickly. I neither saw anyone in the hall nor passed anyone in the hall while I departed."
Leisette says, "Actually, that's not true."
Syearris raises an eyebrow in Leisette's direction.
Leisette says, "I did see the usual guards in the hall, but much like servants, they are easily overlooked."
Leisette says, "I do not think any one person was out or mysterious more than any other."
Vaelynsa nods.
Tikba nods thoughtfully.
Vaelynsa asks, "Other servants perhaps, with freedom of movement like yourself?"
Leisette says, "Oh, we servants easily not each other."
Leisette smiles lightly
Vaelynsa says, "So you note one another as you wander."
Leisette says, "Of course."
Vaelynsa asks, "Any of particular?"
Leisette says, "None that I had observed that night. One imagines they were gathering for their now famous bookclub of nonsensical chatter that drowns out all meaningful discussion or purpose."
Vaelynsa asks, "Circling back to our earlier observations of your presence at discordant events..." She pauses and glances with disinterest down at Leisette. "You were quick upon the scene. Why? What positioned you so quickly to be present?"
Leisette says, "I had just departed the Hall where the gala was happening and making my way to my chambers for a letter I had meant to give my mistress when a guard hailed me. He was concerned that none of his female counter parts were present and did not wish to enter the Lady Malwind's chambers without permission. It is uncouth to do that for a guest that is also married, as I'm sure you can appreciate and understand."
Leisette says, "He had heard a faint thud and hoped it was nothing, but asked if I'd enter."
Syearris raises an eyebrow.
Aeriadrn leans foraward a bit as he makes a note.
Vaelynsa asks, "Even in the event of danger to a protected, the guard would not enter without you?"
Leisette says, "It was just a faint sound that he was uncertain if he should."
Syearris says, "Previously the sound he heard was described as something more...significant than a faint thud."
Vaelynsa asks, "And what was your response?"
The dog hovers protectively by Missoni's side, baring its teeth at nothing in particular.
Leisette says, "I informed the guard I would be happy to check on the Lady. She did not respond at first knock and so I entered, upon finding her I immediately called the guard in to check the windows, armoires, and adjoining doors."
Vaelynsa asks, "And it was just a faint sound?"
Vaelynsa asks, "And he initiated the request?"
Leisette says, "It has been several months, inquisitor, and I have had time to think on exactly what transpired. As there was and always has been no sign of a scuffle and given his trepidation to enter, I am led to believe -- since he is a good guardsman -- that it had to have been faint for him to not immediately enter."
Leisette says, "Yes, he requested I enter."
Vaelynsa says, "That is interesting."
Vaelynsa leans against the wall, glancing over at Leisette.

Eruien asks, "Do you remember a guard when we were watching with the mirror?"
Uniana looks over at Eruien and shakes her head.
Eruien admits, "I'd had quite a bit to drink by then."
Speaking to Eruien, Teveriel says, "I do not recall a guard, no."
Missoni agrees, "Nor do I."
Uniana mentions, "The Mirror, her attendants, the loremaster, Leisette and...the body."
Teveriel says, "Lord Thaiagol, Leisette, the Mirror and her attendants."
Uniana dismisses, "But it was so very long ago now."
Teveriel confirms, "And…yes."
Eruien nods in agreement at Uniana.

Vaelynsa says, "We have heard from others, including yourself, that it was a scuffle that was heard."
Vaelynsa says, "I find it hard to believe a guard would not rush in at the sound of a scuffle, gender and societal niceties notwithstanding."
Leisette asks, "Did they all witness the sound or go by conjecture and rumor?"
Vaelynsa says, "According to one person, you told them the guard heard a scuffle."
Leisette says, "Indeed, which is why I must surmise it was too faint a sound to require an alarmed reaction."
Leisette says, "This is what he initially said, though has recanted and said it was faint or he'd have rushed in."
Syearris nods slowly.
Aeriadrn writes a few lines on his parchment.
Syearris evenly says, "Perhaps he was just in shock after the incident and misspoke."
Vaelynsa asks, "What would you say if I told you the guard claims you appeared as the scuffle was heard and rushed in without him?"
Leisette says, "I'd be amused and shocked."
Vaelynsa says, "It is good that this amuses you."
Vaelynsa nods.
Vaelynsa says, "Now, you discover the body."
Leisette says, "Oh, this matter amuses me not at all, Inquisitor."
Vaelynsa asks, "What did you see?"
You take a tiny sip of your smoky thyme tea, warming your lips and making sure it isn't too hot to drink.
Leisette says, "The guard's faulty memory is what amuses me."
Leisette says, "He has some debts and things his wife doesn't want known. I'm sure someone could have arranged for his memory to change."
Vaelynsa glances at the other inquisitors and nods.
Leisette says, "Upon entering the chamber, I found the Lady Malwind."
Vaelynsa says, "Casting aspersions at a guard has been noted."
Vaelynsa nods at Leisette.
Leisette says, "She was quite without breath in her and her skin was tinged blue. There appeared to be no signs of poison on her fingers, in her nail beds, or upon her lips."
Leisette says, "I even checked behind her ears and at her wrist."
Vaelynsa says, "Quite thorough."
Syearris asks, "Did you check for other signs of causation beyond poison?"
Leisette says, "To be sure, I did a sweep of her mouth as well, in case something was lodged in her throat."
Leisette says, "There were no outward signs of bruising, nothing to indicate choking. The Lady was simply dead."
Leisette slowly empties her lungs.
Leisette says, "If I may..."
Vaelynsa says, "By all means."
Vaelynsa waves a hand magnamiously.
Leisette says, "My profession requires that I have my "ears to the stone" as the expression goes. I had heard rumors of unease, though the servants of the keep gossip in circles that are difficult to pull truth from conjecture. I had sensed that something may be amiss that night and cautioned the Lady Malwind about moving places unattended. My deepest, most sincerest regret is that I did not press the topic more. Had I been able to find a thread of truth within the prattle of noise, I'd have pressed harder."
Vaelynsa nods.
Speaking to Ciradyl, Vaelynsa says, "I return the floor to you."
Syearris says, "Wait."
Ciradyl nods at Syearris.
Speaking to Leisette, Syearris asks, "If you sensed something was amiss that night, why did you only speak to Lady Malwind about it?"
Syearris asks, "Would it not have been wiser to discuss this with Commander Murstyr?"
Leisette says, "I didn't speak only to Lady Malwind, that is a wild assumption on your part."
Leisette asks, "I did not speak to Murstyr for he believes that the Sapphire Guard and their convictions are superior in all things. Why would he believe me?"
Syearris says, "It is not an assumption. You left it out of your statement just moments ago."
Syearris nods slowly.
Syearris asks, "Then who else did you speak to?"
Leisette says, "The Argent Mirror."
Syearris gives a sidelong glance at Ciradyl.
Syearris says, "That is all."
Ciradyl continues to gaze at Leisette, conveying little emotion.
Syearris whispers something to Ciradyl.
Leisette inclines her head.
Leisette stands up.
Leisette bows her head slightly as she drops into a deep, respectful curtsy.
Speaking calmly to Leisette, Ciradyl says, "Thank you for your time, Lady Leisette."
Speaking to herself, Vaelynsa says, "Fascinating."
Leisette says, "It has been my honor, Inquisitor."
Aeriadrn nods.
Aeriadrn makes a few last notes on his parchment.
Mistress Leisette just went through a duo of heavy-handled doors.
Ciradyl glances up at her tome and nods slightly, the quill flying across the pages.
Ciradyl whispers something to Syearris.
Speaking to Syearris, Ciradyl says, "I suppose the Master of Lore has waited long enough."
Vaelynsa says, "Waiting builds character."
Ciradyl chuckles.
Ciradyl says, "He has it in spades."

Thaiagol just came through a multi-locked blued imflass door.
Thaiagol marches forward in a sweep of robes, frowning imperiously.
Speaking kindly to Thaiagol, Ciradyl says, "Please be seated, if you feel so inclined."
Ciradyl nods to a pavonated silk-cushioned chair.
Leisette takes a tiny sip of her evergreen tea, warming her lips and making sure it's cool enough to drink.
Thaiagol glances at a pavonated silk-cushioned chair.
Thaiagol slowly approaches the silk-cushioned chair, his steps echoing against the marble floor as he sits down.
Speaking politely to Thaiagol, Ciradyl says, "For the Hall of Records, could you please state your name, where you are from, and your profession of choice."
Speaking flatly to Ciradyl, Thaiagol says, "I am Thaiagol Razan-Dhur Illistim. I am from Ta'Illistim."
Ciradyl calmly continues, "And your profession."
Thaiagol mildly says, "I would say that I am a seeker of truths. Rather like you in that regard."
Thaiagol offers a dusty chuckle.
Speaking simply to Thaiagol, Ciradyl says, "Then you also understand our quest to gather the information regarding Lady Malwind's murder and bring this person or persons to justice."
Thaiagol inclines his head pleasantly.
Ciradyl pleasantly says, "Excellent."
Speaking to Thaiagol, Ciradyl continues, "And please answer for those unfamiliar, what is your status within Ta’Illistim?"
Thaiagol says, "I am a Master of Lore. A highly positioned member of the Loremasters."
Ciradyl nods in agreement.
Speaking to Thaiagol, Ciradyl asks, "A position that comes with prestige, as well as access to more information regarding the Shining City, I would think?"
Thaiagol says, "That is accurate enough, yes."
Ciradyl nods once.
Speaking to Thaiagol, Ciradyl asks, "Lord Razan-Dhur, are you familiar with Lady Ardtin Greyvael?"
Thaiagol says, "Rather more than familiar. We have known each other for many years."
Speaking to Thaiagol, Ciradyl agrees, "A close friendship is to be cherished."
Thaiagol nods patiently at Ciradyl.
Speaking to Thaiagol, Ciradyl asks, "Do you share in her opinions of the Lady Malwind?"
Thaiagol says, "My opinions of the Lady Malwind are uniquely my own."
Syearris asks, "And what are your opinions?"
Syearris raises an eyebrow in Thaiagol's direction.
Thaiagol flatly says, "I did not think of her with much frequency when she was alive. It is with frustration that I must still think of her now that she is dead."
Thaiagol says, "I do not mean to sound cold, but she was entirely unrelated to my research."
Ciradyl simply says, "That does appear to be a common opinion, outside of research."
Syearris asks, "Thinking of her is not the same as what you think about her. Please answer the question. What are your opinions of her?"
Thaiagol says, "In my brief experiences with her, I found her to be a pleasant woman, and open to discussion on a wide variety of subjects."
Thaiagol says, "...I suppose you might say that I found that endearing, in a way."
Ciradyl nods.
Ciradyl says, "As a highly positioned member of court, it would be assumed you did have more frequent chances of interacting with her and we had hoped to gain more insight into her before the incident."
Thaiagol says, "I will endeavor to be of assistance where I can in supplementing such insights."
Speaking to Thaiagol, Ciradyl continues, "Along the same vein of inquiry, Lady Malwind was instrumental in our dealings with the Valley of Gold, do you or do you not agree with the treaties we've drafted with the West?"
Thaiagol lets out a short, guttural sigh.
Speaking calmly to Thaiagol, Ciradyl reminds, "Our search for the truth must begin somewhere."
Missoni traces a finger over her firebird stone. A small spark follows the path of her finger across the stone.
Speaking calmly to Ciradyl, Thaiagol says, "Yes, though when I fail to find the truth, it is not a humiliating and incendiary embarrassment for my people."
Syearris raises an eyebrow in Thaiagol's direction.
Thaiagol says, "I support the efforts toward peace."
Speaking slowly to Thaiagol, Ciradyl repeats, "You mean 'our' people, of course."
Speaking sharply to Ciradyl, Thaiagol says, "Precisely."
Thaiagol says, "Our fractious relationship with Turamzzyr has been a distraction from the pursuits of learning for too long. I would be amenable toward a lasting peace and exchange of ideas."
Ciradyl says, "A step towards a lasting piece would to serve justice for those we've lost both East and West."
Speaking to Thaiagol, Ciradyl says, "Our inquiry is simply our method of quelling the discontent on both sides, Master of Lore."
Thaiagol nods vaguely at Ciradyl.
Speaking to Ciradyl, Thaiagol says, "I cannot fault your logic. However, as I am not Lady Malwind's murderer, neither can I be of immediate assistance in lancing that boil of discontent."
Aeriadrn taps his stylus against his chin before making a note.
Speaking calmly to Thaiagol, Ciradyl says, "Simply providing your opinions and recollections are all we require, as we piece together this puzzle."
Syearris asks, "I believe we diverged from the topic of Lady Ardtin earlier. It's been reported you've been meeting with her in secret since the events that transpired with Lady Malwind. What is the purpose of those meetings?"
Syearris gazes at Thaiagol.
Speaking to Syearris, Thaiagol says, "We share insights on matters great and trivial, as old friends do."
Speaking to you, Kothos says, "I noted your grandfather had a sense of...direct candor to him, as well."
Syearris asks, "What insights do you share on Lady Malwind's death?"
Thaiagol leans back and folds his aged hands in his lap.
Syearris arches one brow, fixing his gaze on Thaiagol.
Speaking to Syearris, Thaiagol says, "We believe that it is a pity that it occurred here in Ta'Illistim."
Syearris says, "Not that it is a pity it occurred--but that it is a pity that it occurred here. Noted."
Speaking to Thaiagol, Ciradyl asks, "Do you believe this was an expected outcome?"
Speaking to Syearris, Thaiagol says, "Humans are not especially long-lived. It was only a matter of time that something got her--a bad heart, crippling gout, consumption."
Thaiagol looks to the ceiling as if searching for words.
Thaiagol says, "I have been accused of disliking humans. That is unequivocally false."
Thaiagol says, "Rather, they are here and gone in such a short time that I have scarcely had the time to come to know any fully."
Syearris nods slightly.
Speaking to Syearris, Thaiagol says, "Given that such death is a foregone conclusion, yes... it is a pity that it occurred here."
Syearris asks, "You joined Mistress Leisette after Lady Malwind was found. Did you perform an examination of the body, given your propensity to search for the truth?"
You take a drink from your smoky thyme tea. With just a touch of honey, this herbal tea tastes of smoky thyme.
Aeriadrn writes a few notes quickly across his parchment.
Thaiagol says, "I did."
Syearris asks, "What did you look for and what were your findings?"
Thaiagol says, "I performed a cursory appraisal of common biological and metaphysical methods of killing. None were in immediate evidence, and so my recommendation was that a more complete autopsy take place. I considered also that perhaps she suffered from one of the many congenital defects that plague humans, and that she had simply reached some predestined expiration date."
The dog hovers protectively by Missoni's side, baring its teeth at nothing in particular.
Ciradyl observes, "Rather young for a human though."
Thaiagol agrees with Ciradyl.
Speaking to Ciradyl, Thaiagol says, "Such a means of demise might appear... convenient, given the circumstances, but one must not unduly eliminate an option simply because it seems implausible."
Syearris nods at Thaiagol.
Leisette nods at Teveriel.
Speaking to Thaiagol, Ciradyl says, "Before we conclude, you were noted to have left the room several times that evening."
Thaiagol ruefully says, "Ah, yes. My experiments."
Speaking curiously to Thaiagol, Ciradyl asks, "I take it they did not produce the expected results?"
Thaiagol says, "The results are a matter of state secret, as is the case with the details of much of my work."
Thaiagol says, "Nonetheless, I was frustrated to learn that a social event was scheduled for such an important night."
Speaking to Thaiagol, Ciradyl says, "Without inquiring as to its intentions or origins, I take it your experiment required your full attention."
Speaking to Ciradyl, Thaiagol says, "Quite."
Thaiagol says, "I endeavored to stand bestride both my social and professional commitments. I appear to have failed miserably, given that my absence was so noticeable."
Speaking to Thaiagol, Ciradyl says, "It may not have if the guests hadn't appeared to all have the vapors throughout the evening."
Thaiagol nods at Ciradyl.
Thaiagol says, "As I submitted in my written statement, however, my research assistants can corroborate my presence in my laboratory at key times throughout the evening."

Uniana wonders, "Who had the ability to freely move within and without," pausing to put emphasis on the next words, "Lady Malwind's chambers?"
Eruien plainly remarks, "The handmaidens."

Speaking to Thaiagol, Ciradyl concludes, "We have spoken to your assistants as well and they do in fact corroborate."
Speaking simply to Thaiagol, Ciradyl says, "Thank you for your time."
Speaking quietly to Ciradyl, Thaiagol says, "For all of our sakes, I hope that it has moved your investigation forward."
Thaiagol struggles to stand, but fails.
Aeriadrn writes a few notes quickly across his parchment.
Speaking to Thaiagol, Syearris asks, "Do you need assistance?"
Thaiagol holds up a hand.
Thaiagol says, "I am fine."
Speaking vaguely to Thaiagol, Ciradyl says, "Each questioning moves us in intended directions."
Thaiagol steadies himself.
Speaking to Thaiagol, Syearris says, "Nonsense. At your age, I imagine it gets difficult."
Speaking to Syearris, Thaiagol says, "A great many things are hampered by age."
Syearris nods understandingly at Thaiagol.
Thaiagol says, "...including investigations."
Speaking to Syearris, Thaiagol says, "I hope this one is near its end."
Thaiagol turns around.
Thaiagol just went through a duo of heavy-handled doors.
Vaelynsa nods.
Ciradyl gazes in amusement at a duo of heavy-handled doors.
Cupping the face of her ebony mask, Vaelynsa unties the ties and remove it.
Ciradyl quips, "I do believe he was accusing us of being old."
Aeriadrn says, "He may have been."
Syearris glances at Ciradyl.
Speaking to Ciradyl, Vaelynsa says, "He may be right in some cases."
Ciradyl clears her throat and gestures at her tome, causing it to dive down in front of her.
Syearris says, "Speak for yourself."
Ciradyl laughs softly, trying to hide her amusement.
Ciradyl announces, "We have two more guests to question, Lord Aendir Silithyr and Lord Bayvel-Timbertree."
Ciradyl gazes up into the galleries.
Ciradyl announces, "I have taken the initiative and interviewed Lord Silithyr in a more comfortable setting and have the report written here."
Ciradyl taps at her tome. It wiggles a bit.
Ciradyl announces, "After a few drinks and drops of a particular serum, Lord Silithyr stated the following:"
Ciradyl firmly announces, "He is Lord Aendir Silithyr Loenthra, Financier and Patron of the Arts, and a full citizen of the Shining City."

Speaking to Leisette, Thaiagol says, "At least our respective turns of headlining this mummer's show are at an end."
Leisette agrees with Thaiagol.

Ciradyl firmly continues, "He felt as though Lady Malwind left little impression upon him during her stay at court, although he does recognize her contributions to the west and her people."
You wrinkle your nose.
Ciradyl continues, "He does not believe the Empire should be trusted and believes the treaties signed are a mistake."
Ciradyl states, "Although he admits his memory is spotty at best regarding the evening of the ball," She murmurs something about 'too much serum' to herself. "He did corroborate with Lady Elaejia Silithyr that they left to enjoy one another's company."
Ciradyl concludes, "Lord Silithyr, although difficult to interview, has been cleared after such questioning."
Ciradyl nods to her tome and it flits off behind the blued imflass door.
Ciradyl recites:

"This concludes today's inquiry. Lord Bayvel-Timbertree, in the style of Lord Silithyr's inquiry, has requested a private session."

Vaelynsa nods at Ciradyl.
Ciradyl recites:

    "Thank you all for attending."

Ciradyl asks, "Shall we begin this last questioning?"
Aeriadrn makes a final note on his parchment.
Syearris nods at Ciradyl.

Leisette says, "I would surmise that someone is paying the servants, maids, and some of the guards to share nonsensical rumors to muddy the important whispers. It is becoming very had to filter through the noise."

Vaelynsa says, "Yes, and perhaps the guard gets questioned next."
Vaelynsa mutters under her breath.
Ciradyl laughs softly, trying to hide her amusement.
