Sabotage at the Library Aies - A NotB Vignette

After the disturbing revelation that access records may be missing from the Library Aies archives, the Chief Inquisitor tasked Inquisitor Vaelynsa with further investigation. Thus, on Volnes, Vaelynsa met with the head loremaster for the library.

Together, the Loremaster and the Inquisitor interviewed numerous staff, reviewed other records, and toured the archives.

Librarian Atylia, the missing researcher, was found to be working in the section of the archives where Researcher Vanael's works were held. The access records for the last several months are missing. Others working in the same area have no recollection of visitors, but it was not their job to pay attention and most were deep into their own research. Atylia was responsible for the records, and while she was a bit absent-minded, she was meticulous in record-keeping and otherwise reliable. In other words, her colleagues and friends believe it was plausible she could get so focused on her own research as to wander off in its pursuit, but none believed she would take or destroy records.

Vaelynsa studied the archives. The case's location was near the front, meaning it had been accessed somewhat recently, and the researcher who retrieved it for her stated unequivocally that it was free of any dust or debris.

There was no doubt about it in Vaelynsa's mind -- someone accessed these records and took great pains to cover it up. She ordered replications of the case and its contents delivered to her house by Leyan morning.

After conferring with the others and reviewing their findings, it was decided -- it was time for a trip.
