A high altitude lichen, night's comfort is a sickly yellow with vaguely dog-headed black blotches. Night's comfort spreads mostly across rocky terrain, as its natural habitat is above the treeline, but it has been known to creep across the ground and the occasional shrub.

When this alpine lichen is ingested in too high a dose, it causes either dangerously pleasant hallucinations or terrifying delirium. Either way, it can easily lead to death as one under its effects tends to either submit to extreme lassitude for several days, forgoing food and drink, or to surrender to terror and run amok in a blind panic.

It is said that the truly devout can safely partake, gaining wisdom and insight in the throes of delirium.

As the potency of the lichen varies greatly with no visible indication, ingesting night's comfort in any amount is highly discouraged.
