Ed. Note

This event was structured around the Landing town council opening the floor to speakers and responding to them, so I've highlighted each speaker's actions, most of the council members', and some by third parties that drew notable response from either of the above. I've attempted to leave enough reactions in place to help convey the room's general temperature, while trimming things like greetings, PDAs, and some off-topic dialogue. If any concerns please get in touch.

Log

[Moot Hall, Council Chamber - 397]

A rich merlot carpet stretches from end to end of this large, spacious chamber, which is aglow from the moonlight shining in through several arched windows along an entire wall. Large, verdant green plants rest in terra cotta vases in each corner of the room, and the walls are decorated with detailed paintings of nearby historical landmarks. A circular table sits in the center of the room, surrounded by several wooden chairs. You also see the Dwi disk, a massive grey wolf, a plump calico cat that is sitting, the Kialeigh disk, a black leather book flying around with its feathery wings, a floppy-eared white puppy masked with a patch of void black fur, the faenor Chandrellia disk inlaid with intersecting bands of jet, a grizzled porcupine, the Vaemyr disk, a somber wasteland spirit that is flying around, a wide burnished oak archway, an ivory-washed birch door, a reinforced oak door, a polished red cedar door and a pink oak door.

Also here: Dwi who is sitting, Queatus, Bernadette, Draelor, Pukk who is sitting, Imperatrix Lylia who is sitting, Kialeigh, Vendayan, Sirona, Morikun who is sitting, Fahlo, Lord Nordred, High Lady Lahanna, Faerinn who is sitting, Miss Chandrellia, Irval, Kelfyr, Dendum, Dame Evia, Alosaka, Town Councilor Vaemyr, Tikba, Town Councilor Kiyna, Sir Cryheart, High Lord Grutak, Mistress Lithyia, Lord Tennalnen

Obvious exits: none

Speaking to Grutak, Kiyna says, "Because it doesn't matter. His excuse for war on the settlers was two teenagers frolicking just across his border."

Chandrellia says, "Becasue for some, its harder then you think to just watch innocents get slaughtered like a herd a rolton."

Speaking to Grutak, Kiyna says, "He'll find any excuse, clearly."

Queatus frowns.

Tikba looks thoughtfully at Kiyna.

Grutak asks, "Wait... they were IN his territory?"

Speaking to Grutak, Vaemyr says, "Those two kids could of easily been ours, they just happened to be imperials."

Speaking to Grutak, Kiyna says, "Yes. Chased further into it after the first attack, I understand."

Speaking to Grutak, Alosaka says, "The first two were... possibly in Reiver territory. The shepherds his people killed the other week were in Grandelor pasture, which they have no claim over."

Cryheart and Guarrin bash their forearms in greeting.

Vaemyr nods to Guarrin in greeting.

Lylia adds, "And from which they stole livestock."

Grutak asks, "Ya lived in peace with'em for years until the Empire showed up to claim darkstone aye?"

Speaking quietly to Kiyna, Alosaka says, "You may have to announce the rules again."

Dwi heartily says, "I hear some elfs got rich frem robbin libestocks."

Morikun says, "This sounds like a problem for them Empire folks, eh? I ain't be take'n up war with them Reivers. Them people come here to town, they trade, they keep the Krol dead, always a good cause that one."

Kiyna says, "Aye, raise your hands if you wish to ask a question, and let's have respect for those asking them."

Dwi raises her hand.

Cryheart says, "There are two separate Reiver clans."

Speaking to Morikun, Geijon says, "That is all true, of th' other clan."

Vaemyr whispers something to Kiyna.

Dendum asks, "They just...decide to split clans apart for no reason then?"

Kiyna says, "We can say that we take a neutral stance to the reivers, and not become involved. I would honestly prefer this - the Barony is not without its defenders, and our own people are still recovering from Gnul's attacks. Here's my problem... if all it took was two teenagers putting a foot over their border to escalate to a full war..."

Lithyia says, "I'm not going to fight the reivers."

Kiyna says, "I feel they will take the first opportunity to claim we're not neutral. Any one of you that ventures out to help will be their excuse."

Speaking quietly to Cryheart, Dwi asks, "Wait we still pickin onna dem reebers? Bestest bar fites...but c'mon yer not actually steelin der libestocks now?"

Irval says, "Lets be clear. Its not all Reivers. Just of the Ember vale."

Grutak raises his hand.

Speaking to Irval, Kiyna says, "Yes, they are the matter at issue."

Speaking to Alosaka, Kothos says, "Thank you, 'Saka."

Cryheart says, "There two separate Reiver clans, one has declared war on us, and the other wants peace."

Queatus asks, "On us?"

Dendum says, "On the empire."

Lithyia asks, "Wait, war on us or war on those outside the gates?"

Speaking heartily to Cryheart, Dwi asks, "Hah...inna bar?"

Lithyia says, "There's a difference."

Cryheart says, "If we stand in their way."

Kiyna says, "Dwi was the first one to raise their hand, so."

Kiyna points at Dwi.

Seaward Gutstorm just stumbled in, flailing his arms wildly while trying to right himself!

Seaward Gutstorm moves toward a wide burnished oak archway and then stumbles, making a total fool out of himself.

Seaward Gutstorm just stumbled in, flailing his arms wildly while trying to right himself!

Seaward Gutstorm moves toward a pink oak door and then stumbles, making a total fool out of himself.

Queatus asks, "So why would we?"

Cryheart says, "If we protect the settlers, they will declare war."

Seaward Gutstorm just stumbled in, flailing his arms wildly while trying to right himself!

Speaking heartily to Kiyna, Dwi says, "Oh..yeah..I was gonna ask wot kinda questions ye wanted."

Lylia notes, "'Peace' means something slightly different to reivers as it does to Landing citizens. But yes. One is more peaceable than the other."

Gutstorm pounds a circular wooden table with his fist, but nothing happens.

Gutstorm takes a drink from his strawberry milk.

Gutstorm's eyes glaze over slightly and his face pales.

Gutstorm is stunned!

Kiyna sighs at Dwi.

Irval says, "I was referring to people not wanting to fight Reivers. This is not the way to think since its not all Reivers. Just an upstart firstborn of the Hag."

Vaemyr says, "I would appreciate if people raise their hand to ask questions."

Speaking to Cryheart, you say, "If Wehnimer's Landing protects the settlers. Nothing's stopping you from doing it as a vigilante if you so choose."

Vaemyr says, "We have a LOT of people here tonight some order would be appreciated."

Kiyna says, "Grutak was the next one, then."

Guarrin raises an eyebrow in your direction.

Grutak

Kiyna points at Grutak.

Queatus raises his hand.

A plump calico cat says, "I'd like to make an emergency motion. We need to make Gutstorm take a bath."

Grutak says, "It seems that the Landing needs to decide, do they want to be a tool of the Empire or their own soverign entity. You'll not solve your problem till you decide that."

Guarrin casually notes, "Sir Cryheart is well within his right to defend the environs as he sees fit."

Cryheart raises his hand.

Speaking to Grutak, Kiyna says, "That's not a question, but thank you for your input."

You nod in agreement at Guarrin.

Chandrellia raises her hand.

Kiyna points at Alosaka.

Lithyia says, "He's not wrong..."

Grutak asks, "Sorry, my question is... do you seek help from others outside of the Landing?"

Vendayan says, "I don't think the clan will differentiate between a vigilante and a defense force."

Lylia raises her hand.

Speaking to Kiyna, Alosaka says, "Apologies, not a question, I was going to briefly offer some more context for those who missed the events with Haidan."

Vendayan says, "If the vigilantes succeed in making a difference, of course."

Tikba raises her hand.

Lylia nods appreciatively at Vaemyr.

Speaking to Vendayan, you say, "They likely will if operations are run out of the Imperial camp rather than from within these walls."

Speaking to Grutak, Kiyna says, "Do we seek help? When we need to. For these reivers? No. At least, not yet."

Alosaka (1)

Kiyna nods at Alosaka.

Alosaka nods.

Speaking to Alosaka, Kiyna says, "Go ahead."

Dendum whispers, "Oi, this is a mess."

Alosaka says, "I will be brief. If you wander into the Lower Dragonsclaw, not far outside town, you will find a skull mounted on a stick. It belongs to Hagga the Bone Witch, a reiver witch who terrorized the Landing some years ago. Her son leads the new Ember Vale reivers."

You quietly whisper to Dendum, "Trying to steer is just adding to the chaos I think."

Irval says, "Yep Upstart son of the Hag."

Perigourd nods in agreement at Missoni.

Speaking heartily to Gutstorm, Dwi says, "If'n dese idjits gonna start tackin dem reebers willy-nilly...dey gonna go thru me...anna some da folks who learnt frem em."

Alosaka says, "The Ember Vale reivers are upset with the presence of the Imperial Settlement and have attacked and killed its members. They are known to have murdered several who intruded in their lands, a few shepherds, and they may be responsible for a certain incident with spiders implanted in some settlers bellies."

Irval says, "Bit..witch. rather."

Grutak raises his hand.

Alosaka says, "The spiders, incidentally, did invade the town itself, slaying some here."

Vendayan sarcastically asks, "And the head must scare him off, yes?"

Tikba mildly says, "May be."

Alosaka says, "The Ember Vale have demanded that the Landing stay neutral in this dispute. If so, they will not attack the town."

Kiyna says, "We can't confirm the spiders were their doing, but I strongly suspect that is the case."

Alosaka says, "They intended to slay the Settlers who remain."

Alosaka nods at Kiyna.

Alosaka says, "That should bring everyone up to speed on the Ember Vale clan."

Kiyna nods appreciatively at Alosaka.

Kiyna says, "There are quite a lot of people, so forgive me if I am curt. I wish to give everyone a chance to speak."

Geijon says, "Different theories on th' spiders."

Pukk asks, "I just heard somebody mention that the reivers declared war on us in Landing. Is this true?"

Speaking to Geijon, Perigourd says, "Haidan intimated it was their shaman's."

Tikba looks over at Pukk and shakes her head.

Partolwine says, "Vindy vortexes sucking people up into em and ya talking about spiders."

Speaking heartily to Pukk, Dwi says, "Opposite."

Pukk says, "That is all I wanted to know."

Speaking to Lithyia, Grutak asks, "I wonder what the Landing would do if someone outside the area supported the Rievers against the Empire?"

The dog hovers protectively by Missoni's side, baring its teeth at nothing in particular.

Speaking to Pukk, Alosaka says, "They certainly threatened to."

You raise your hand.

Queatus

Kiyna points at Queatus.

Queatus nods.

Pukk says, "Thank you."

Queatus says, "Three questions."

Queatus asks, "What happened to 'this town only wants peace'?"

Speaking quietly to Pukk, Dwi says, "Der used to be jugglers anna such at dese meetins."

Speaking to Queatus, Kiyna says, "But you only have two hands."

Kiyna smirks at Queatus.

Queatus asks, "The settlers have been offered refuge in Vornavis, have they not?"

Alosaka holds up his hand and tilts it side to side in a so-so gesture.

Queatus asks, "And finally you would draw this town into a conflict we have no part of, when the reivers turn on us, you will get more of our innocents killed on behalf of the empire?"

Nordred says, "Here comes the kick.."

Nordred slowly empties his lungs.

Speaking to Lithyia, Grutak says, "A thorny issue."

Lithyia says, "Indeed."

You groan at Grutak.

Speaking to Queatus, Irval says, "This group of Reivers was always going to be a problem. Its Hagkin."

Speaking to Queatus, Kiyna says, "So... three questions is cheating a bit, so I will cheat a bit as well and ask Vaemyr to answer this one."

Tikba nods thoughtfully at Queatus.

Queatus grins.

Speaking to Queatus, Vaemyr says, "Are you addressing me? Because the council has not advocated for anything you've just accused."

Queatus says, "Ok, then forget the last."

Vaemyr says, "I on the other hand denounce Haidan and the Ember Vale."

You furrow your brow, probably adding a wrinkle or two in the process.

Tikba looks thoughtfully at Vaemyr.

Queatus asks, "The settlers have been offered refuge in Vornavis, no?"

Lithyia nods at Queatus.

Speaking to Queatus, Kiyna says, "They have, yes."

Raelee stares sternly down her nose at Gutstorm.

Speaking to Queatus, Kiyna says, "At least, some of them. I don't know how much room they have."

Queatus says, "So, they go to vornavis, and the imperial soldiers fight the reivers. Seems easy."

Queatus says, "I suspect they have room."

Speaking to Queatus, Vaemyr says, "You are talking to the wrong people."

Lithyia asks, "Is he though?"

Queatus asks, "Ok, who should I talk to?"

A plump calico cat says, "I'm going to go find some stuff on a shelf to knock off."

Geijon grins.

Speaking to Queatus, Vaemyr asks, "Elidal? someone whom actually has any say in what happens with the barony?"

Queatus says, "Well, I don't care what happens to the barony."

Irval sighs.

Speaking to Queatus, Kiyna says, "Go and convince them to leave, if that be your wish. I am not concerned with, specifically, the defense the imperial campsite. In this instance. It has worthy enough defenders and recourse."

Tikba nods in agreement at Kiyna.

Speaking to Queatus, Morikun says, "Oi, ya gots to ask the Elidoll boy if we cans be peaceful or not."

Queatus asks, "So, the town council is resolved to remain neutral?"

Alosaka raises his hand.

Dwi heartily says, "Talkin cats is da worst."

Speaking to Queatus, Kiyna says, "You are not paying attention, if that's what you think."

Queatus says, "Enlighten me then, I must have missed something."

Dendum says, "Perhaps the council could state...where it is at or if it is anywhere..."

Speaking heartily to Dendum, Dwi says, "Imma bet not."

Grutak says, "Politicians are never straight forward."

Alosaka nods at Dendum.

Tikba nods in agreement at Dendum.

Speaking to Queatus, Vaemyr says, "The town council has no say over what people do in this town, if you might have not noticed? Or do you think we should start commanding you all instead? People who want to fight the Reivers will fight them, people who don't won't."

Speaking to Queatus, Kiyna says, "What I am concerned with are the actions of our -other- neighbors. The Ember Vale have come with veteran warriors, cut down shepherds, and called it glorious war."

Tikba glances skeptically at Vaemyr.

Vaemyr says, "We pass laws, and help check the power of other pieces of our government."

Speaking politely to Vaemyr, Tikba asks, "Then why did you wish to hold a town hall, if you believe the actions of the council are meaningless?"

Queatus nods at Tikba.

Lithyia says, "I was just going to ask..."

Speaking to Tikba, Kiyna says, "No one said 'meaningless'."

Speaking to Tikba, Faerinn says, "You took my question."

Lithyia asks, "Then what is the purpose?"

Vaemyr sighs at Tikba.

Speaking carefully to Kiyna, Tikba quotes, "If the town council has 'no say'."

Evia says, "Golly putting words in folks mouth much."

Tikba glances appraisingly at Evia.

Speaking to Tikba, Alosaka says, "To be fair, the council could have made another choice."

Speaking to Vaemyr, Morikun asks, "So pass a damn law that keeps us outta all this so we don't get the blowbacks, eh?"

Lithyia says, "Vaemyr did just say, the town council has no say over what people do in this town..."

Speaking to Evia, Grutak says, "They are far less than I would."

Vaemyr sighs.

Tikba mildly says, "You must forgive my difficulty in understanding. Human is not my first language."

Faerinn recites:

"Council has no say. Meeting adjourned."

Faerinn stands up.

Dwi lets out a cheer!

Kiyna sighs.

Geijon glances at Faerinn.

Faerinn stretches.

Vaemyr says, "Sure, leave then."

Vaemyr says, "Leave the town too."

Faerinn says, "Good talk y'all. Night."

Faerinn just went through an ivory-washed birch door.

Morikun says, "Glad we voted on yallz to be a bunch o' waffles."

You quietly whisper to Dendum, "Which knight is in charge?"

Faerinn just came through an ivory-washed birch door.

Faerinn just went through a wide burnished oak archway.

Fahlo glances between a wide burnished oak archway and an ivory-washed birch door.

Fahlo chuckles to himself.

Kiyna shakes her head.

Kiyna points at Chandrellia.

Cryheart raises his hand.

Queatus says, "Well, I would expect the council to make some sort of statement of neutral if some of zealous residents will get involved in this."

Speaking to Morikun, Chandrellia says, "Regardless of your opinons if you feel the council is not doing what they should feel free to drop your name on a baalet next term until then, show them teh respect they diserve or walk out the door, I dont care which."

Sirona nods in agreement.

Tikba mildly says, "I would hope that if the council preferred neutrality that all good citizens of Wehnimer's Landing would take that desire into account, if only out of a sense of duty to the people of the Landing who will otherwise suffer."

Speaking to Queatus, Vaemyr says, "Will you listen to a statement of neutrality to the empire camp then too? I could get behind that..."

Materializing in the air, a parchment flutters to the ground.

Vaemyr asks, "Will the Rooks?"

You quietly whisper to Guarrin, "Suggestion of who to address if I have questions on their plans and policies?"

Missoni gazes with interest at a finely penned parchment.

Speaking to Gutstorm, Morikun says, "Oi, dem people we voted for, they bunch o' waffles over there. They wait'n on what the boy baron want'n."

Alosaka picks up a finely penned parchment.

Guarrin whispers, "On the council? Or the Reivers?"

Vaemyr says, "Anyways, I believe CHandrellia is next on the list."

Alosaka offers Kiyna a finely penned parchment.

Kiyna accepts Alosaka's penned parchment.

Speaking to Vaemyr, Chandrellia says, "Tahnk you coucnilor."

(OOC) You quietly whisper to Guarrin, "Oops, I meant to whisper about you, not to you. I don't know which of the knights I should direct policy questions to."

Speaking to Vaemyr, Queatus says, "Sure, would love it, declare neutrality and leave the free lands they have occupied."

(OOC) Guarrin's player whispers, "You can direct them at Guarrin."

Speaking to Vaemyr, Vendayan says, "The empire made it clear that they are expecting us to uphold a defense alliance."

Kiyna stares at Alosaka.

Alosaka shrugs at Kiyna.

(OOC) You quietly whisper to Guarrin, "Cool ty."

The voice of Dwi heartily says, "Used to be jugglers at dese things..."

Speaking to Kiyna, Alosaka says, "I just picked it up."

Vaemyr glances at Vendayan.

(OOC) Guarrin's player whispers, "Ayep np."

Speaking to Vendayan, Vaemyr asks, "No?"

Chandrellia

Vaemyr recites:

"Chandrellia"

Speaking politely to Kiyna, Tikba asks, "May I see the document?"

Chandrellia recites:

"First, why not speak to Elidal about a land treaty, from what I hear thru various sources the reivers fear the empire will simply expand when they wish to"

Nordred says, "Neutrality is an idea, not a practicality. Eventually you have to choose something."

Cryheart turns an inquisitive ear toward Chandrellia.

Kiyna offers Tikba a finely penned parchment.

Tikba accepts Kiyna's penned parchment.

Tikba gazes in amusement at the penned parchment in her hand.

Queatus agrees with Nordred.

Speaking to Chandrellia, Kiyna asks, "It's not a terrible idea, it's just that the reivers don't respect words on paper. Why would they?"

Tikba carefully places a finely penned parchment on the floor.

Missoni nods approvingly to a finely penned parchment.

Speaking to Chandrellia, Kiyna says, "That's not really their way."

Vendayan says, "That was asserted in the same missive which said only Landing citizens could hold diplomatic positions."

Alosaka says, "I suggest folks take a look at this interesting missive."

Vendayan says, "They rescued us however many times and expect us to do the same."

Speaking to Kiyna, Chandrellia says, "Then there has to be a way to show them the sincerity ofit, they seem to be acting more like the Krolvin as those were the exact words teh krolvin used as well."

Tikba amusedly says, "Interesting is a good word."

Speaking to Chandrellia, Vaemyr says, "Actually with Missoni's help we're trying to engage with the non-warring Reiver factions and have them meet with Samfelt the Darkstone Emissary so they can potentially discuss exactly that."

Bernadette rubs her chin thoughtfully.

Cryheart

Kiyna says, "Cryheart has the next question."

Kiyna points at Cryheart.

Cryheart forcefully crosses one arm over his kroderine plate and offers a formal bow.

Guarrin takes a slow, deep breath then pinches the bridge of his nose.

Stormyrain smiles thinly.

Cryheart says, "Ok..going to make a statement then ask a question related to that statement."

Kiyna nods appreciatively at Stormyrain.

Vaemyr nods at Cryheart.

Queatus says, "Why won't Vornavis send themselves soldiers is the better question."

Cryheart recites:

"What has nae been expressed outloud this meeting is that Haidan the war chief accused the Landing of letting Tyrrax go and he was upset sbout that."

Tikba nods in agreement at Cryheart.

Lylia sourly says, "I am aware."

Lylia nods at Cryheart.

You nod slightly.

Cryheart recites:

"Therefore we are still a potential target"

Tikba looks thoughtfully at Cryheart.

Stormyrain nods slowly at Cryheart.

Morikun says, "Shoulda killed that Krol too, agree with that warchief there."

Nalver asks, "Anyone else get sucked up into a vortex earlier?"

Geijon says, "Haidan clearly was threatening attacks on th' Landing as "spoils of war"."

Pukk says, "Potential but not confirmed as of yet."

Cryheart recites:

"And do you think the Landing will be separate from the war against the settlement?"

Stormyrain gives a sidelong glance at Morikun.

Stormyrain takes a deep breath, blinking a couple of times before resuming a calm expression.

Speaking to Morikun, Chandrellia says, "Yes, killing and death is always teh answer."

Chandrellia releases a loud sigh and rolls her eyes dramatically.

Gutstorm grunts at Cryheart and shakes his head.

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Our fate tied togetter Cryhearft."

Nalver says, "I got spit out at the door to Black Hel and someone else got kicked out at Bandur Etrevian's grave."

Speaking to Chandrellia, Morikun says, "Agreed."

Cryheart recites:

"What happens when innocent children or citizens get hurt during the overflow of that war from the Ember Vale clan"

Speaking to Cryheart, Vaemyr says, "I do not, and that's why I made the statement I did, I think even if we remain neutral we get dragged in eventually, whether it be some of our merchants being attacked on route to somewhere else, or our farmers or fishermen."

Cryheart recites:

"I do not expect we will be isolated from that overflow"

Speaking to Cryheart, Kiyna says, "It's like I said at the start. If it's not one thing, it will be another. The Ember Vale will come after us. I guarantee it. Any statement of neutrality on our part will not allay them in the least."

Cryheart agrees with Kiyna.

Xorus says, "There are twelve locations where temporal rifts exit in this region. They are always the same."

Talmaris raises his good hand.

Queatus says, "Well, it's a moot point if dozens of Landing citizens rush there and start killing reivers."

Cryheart recites:

"Will the citizens and militia stay away from the threat of Haidan and his Ember Vale reivers?"

Cryheart nods at Vaemyr.

Lylia

Kiyna points at Lylia.

Lylia nods.

Lylia lightly flicks her fingernails against the fabric of her gown in a gesture that unequivocally expresses her withering disdain.

Lylia says, "I have a question, but before I get to it, I should also address a matter that has been well established yet poorly understood."

Lylia says, "It has long been known that the Town Council -- not this one, but a prior one -- decided that this town's jurisdiction ended at its walls."

Vaemyr nods at Lylia.

Lylia says, "To come here in a rat-king and batter them with disingenuous questions is unconscionably disrespectful. You know it, we all see it, yet you persist. I would ask that you cease asking questions to which you know the answers and allow this town the freedom, as many of you so enjoy this word, to move on."

Lylia says, "The Council has declared neutrality regarding the . Whether I find this hopeless is beside the point. We have to live in the world that is, not the world that may be."

Lylia briskly asks, "Having said that, I have questions about the town's walls. We have a new source of stone with what is left of Gnul that could become walls. Is this something we have considered?"

Mourdeyan applauds Lylia.

Raelee looks thoughtfully at Lylia.

Vaemyr nods at Lylia.

Kothos smiles at Lylia.

Tikba nods in agreement at Lylia.

Cryheart nods at Lylia.

Missoni nods approvingly at Lylia.

Lylia asks, "Would the head alone be enough, or shall we seek quarries farther afield?"

Queatus nods at Lylia.

Speaking to Lylia, Kiyna says, "While I very much agree with your sentiment, I should be clear... we have -not- declared neutrality."

Lylia smoothly says, "Ah, excellent. I am happy to be disabused of that notion."

Speaking to Lylia, Vaemyr says, "We've submitted plans to Thadston for review, but he may be searching for the right engineers or other potential resources I'm not sure yet, it is certainly a priority for the council to see those walls realized."

Speaking to Lithyia, Grutak asks, "I wonder why the landing folk are so quiet. None speak up to their elected officials commanding them to do as they bid?"

Speaking to Lylia, Kothos says, "I would imagine it could be examined for any lingering effects from the plinite."

Kothos says, "Or Illoke's influence."

Mourdeyan says, "Thadston...I remember him."

Speaking to Lylia, Chandrellia says, "Its part of why the meeting this night to see what the opinons are for when the council is ready t move forward, I wouldpresume."

Queatus frowns.

Dwi begins chuckling at Chandrellia!

Vaemyr says, "Unfortunately it seems like sometimes the Arkati themselves seem to want to delay us having some things like stone walls, and we must wait for their blessing or such."

Speaking to Chandrellia, Lylia says, "I should add, by the way, I do not blame your term in Council for it either."

Tikba

Vaemyr recites:

"Tikba is next"

Tikba fairly emanates polite civility by way of her courteous, tempered expression.

Kiyna says, "Before we move on to Tikba, I did want to clear up that one thing..."

Kiyna says, "I do not know the mind of Kayse, as she is not here at the moment. So I will not claim to speak for the whole council. But I will reiterate - I am not interested in neutrality. The Ember Vale are a menace, and they attack imperials now because they think they can get away with it. They will attack us in turn."

Tikba nods slowly.

Lylia nods firmly at Kiyna.

Queatus frowns.

Tennalnen nods in agreement at Kiyna.

Nordred says, "Neutrality is a functional concept in a crowd when you've others around to distract or take focus. But in a remote or semi-remote area any aggressor will pick the few off one by one and those not helping others are just ensuring the aggressor wins."

Lylia nods at Nordred.

Cryheart nods at Nordred.

Tikba lightly says, "I have three questions, but you may divide them up as you wish between you. The first pertains to this fascinating paper."

Geijon says, "I've killed no reivers, but I would."

Tikba mildly asks, "I found this document so engrossing that I briefly forgot a few details that the author may not have known either, and so I must beg you to remind me. Is the Turamzyrrian Empire a protectorate of Wehnimer's Landing? Or is the Landing a protectorate of the Empire?"

Kiyna says, "I am not moving to defend the imperial campsite. I am moving to admonish our far-reaching reiver neighbors for their brazen acts of cruelty."

Kiyna sighs.

Kiyna points at Tikba.

Speaking to Kiyna, Tikba says, "Forgive me."

Tikba says, "As I said. Perhaps the author of this paper may not have realized, and so we may help him."

Tikba asks, "Is the Empire responsible for the protection of Wehnimer's Landing? Or is the Landing responsible for the protection of the Empire?"

Tikba mildly says, "Possibly I have been mistaken."

Speaking to Tikba, Kiyna says, "We are a protectorate of the Empire, yes. They are responsible for our protection in certain matters, under those terms. Not all matters."

Speaking to Tikba, Grutak says, "Now that's a good question."

Tikba amusedly says, "Perhaps another parchment may appear, now that the author, whoever they may be, has been edified."

Speaking to Tikba, Grutak says, "Political speech for, when it suits them."

Speaking to Tikba, Morikun says, "They be want'n us to go die killing our neighbors so they can take the reiver land after we shed our blood for 'em."

Alosaka raises his hand.

Tikba says, "Secondly, I wondered what Elidal Dhenin has offered us in payment for protection. As I recall, he previously offered us payment for the protection of the caravans from Gnul."

Tikba says, "Since Gnul was both our enemies, while the reivers are only his, it seemed sensible to me that the payment would be correspondingly higher."

Tikba asks, "What offer has he made thus far?"

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Woah woah woah...ye all got paid?"

Alosaka rummages around in his pockets.

Tikba gazes in amusement at Alosaka.

Stormyrain sighs slightly and rubs her temples.

Speaking dryly to Tikba, Alosaka asks, "How much do you want?"

Stormyrain raises her hand.

Speaking to Tikba, Kiyna says, "Elidal has been hard to get a hold of. He was in Solhaven recently for a memorial service. However, I have plans to speak with him on that very topic when I can."

Speaking to Alosaka, Perigourd says, "We don't need to hire mercenaries."

Kiyna says, "It's like trying to catch mist."

Morikun asks, "We gunno be the Empire's hired mercenaries now too?"

You say, "Soldiers are paid just the same as mercenaries."

Speaking to Alosaka, Tikba asks, "I have seen the beautiful walls and fine homes of Vornavis. Have you seen the shanty towns east of the river?"

Speaking to Alosaka, Tikba says, "You must ask them how much they would desire."

Tikba mildly says, "For myself, I want nothing."

Guarrin looks at Tikba blankly, at a loss to express himself.

Speaking to Tikba, Vaemyr asks, "Did you have a third question?"

Tikba nods politely at Vaemyr.

Speaking to Vaemyr, Tikba says, "I have heard some individuals I greatly respect say that we must face the reivers now, since there is a danger that they will be a threat to us in the future."

Vaemyr nods at Tikba.

Speaking to Vaemyr, Tikba says, "This drove me to wonder why the reivers are there today? Surely there has always been a danger that they might one day be a threat to us."

Speaking mildly to Vaemyr, Tikba says, "Why has the town not eradicated all such potential threats? You must understand I have only moved here recently."

Alosaka says, "A reminder that Hagga the Bone Witch's head is on a stick outside our town."

Kiyna nods at Alosaka.

Tikba nods in agreement at Alosaka.

Tikba says, "And yet, the reiver village remained."

Speaking to Tikba, Vaemyr says, "Good question, and yes Reivers were a threat in the past, and we dealt with them."

Tikba mildly asks, "Was it thought that peace could be made?"

Speaking to Tikba, Perigourd says, "Not all of them followed Hagga."

Tikba nods understandingly at Perigourd.

Perigourd says, "They had a civil conflict."

Speaking to Tikba, Vaemyr asks, "Do you mean we should slaughter every man womand and child that is somewhat associated with a threat we face?"

Perigourd says, "Much as they're having now."

Speaking to Vaemyr, Tikba says, "I am asking whether that is the policy of the Landing."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "So da Warchief reiver more pished me shtole him rolton, den we got him mumma head onna pike....him prioritiesh off a tad."

Speaking to Perigourd, Nalver says, "I wonder if you view the squabbles of other cities like those in this meeting would look at a reiver civil war."

Speaking mildly to Vaemyr, Tikba says, "I am pleased to hear that it is not."

Speaking to Tikba, Kiyna says, "It is not."

Tikba says, "It is an excellent reminder that there is always the possibility of peace. We must not give up now because we are warned that there may be danger in the future."

Speaking to Tikba, Vaemyr says, "The ENTIRE reason I will stand against Haidan is BECAUSE he targets innocents."

Speaking to Vaemyr, Morikun asks, "You're say'n we should go kill em all start'n now, so what's the difference there?"

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Nunya all ish innocent, me seen thingsh."

Speaking to Nalver, Geijon says, "I don't think that comparison remotely works if that is your attempt."

Speaking to Tikba, Vaemyr says, "Perhaps after realizing that mistake he will reconsider and actually negotiate instead of that farce we had the other week."

Speaking to Tikba, Kiyna says, "I am not interested in pursuing the Ember Vale reivers to their homes and making their names more literal. I will, however, stand against their warriors and cut them down if they make themselves a threat."

Lithyia says, "And yet if those...innocents... hadnt come to our front yard..."

Tikba says, "They have said they will not be a threat to the Landing."

Grutak grins at Lithyia.

Tikba mildly says, "There seemed little desire to test this suggestion."

Speaking to Lithyia, Stormyrain asks, "So let them die, anyway yes? Who cares? Because they wish to settle here much like many in this room?"

Lithyia says, "They could have gone elsewhere."

Speaking to Lithyia, Stormyrain asks, "Do you hail from the Landing? By birth?"

Tikba nods in agreement at Stormyrain.

Speaking to Stormyrain, Grutak says, "Pays yer money and takes yer chances."

Lithyia says, "I've been living in this town on and off for over twenty years."

Speaking to Stormyrain, Tikba says, "You are exactly correct."

Cryheart whispers something to Tikba.

Speaking to Stormyrain, Dendum remarks, ""We are honoring the silence of the questioners and council and not responding with obvious statements like no one else in this room brought a barony."

Speaking to Lithyia, Stormyrain says, "That was not my question."

Speaking heartily to Stormyrain, Dwi says, "Oh c'mon Cappin... none ye was berf'd here."

Lithyia says, "No, I was born in Ubl."

Speaking to Stormyrain, Tikba says, "We must welcome and protect the settlers, behind the walls of Wehnimer's Landing, as citizens."

Tikba says, "All they must do is sign the book in this building, and take their place as citizens of the Landing."

Speaking to Tikba, Vaemyr says, "Yes yes, how many times have people "said" they wouldn't be a threat to the landing, and then they came burning our houses, killing people in the streets, raiding our walls."

Tikba says, "Sister Filanci has already done so."

Speaking to Tikba, Stormyrain says, "So we now dictate where folks must live and be? Interesting."

Speaking to Tikba, Vaemyr says, "Because it's been a lot."

Tikba looks thoughtfully at Stormyrain.

Speaking to Tikba, Vaemyr says, "If it smells rotten, and looks rotten, you should throw it out."

Vaemyr recites:

"Grutak next"

Tikba shrugs her shoulders slightly, lifting her wings slightly.

Kiyna points at Grutak.

Tikba mildly says, "I see that the decision has already been made."

Dendum nods at Tikba.

Lylia notes, "I believe Sir Bristenn Mires hails from here. But of course, my memory could be faulty."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Can me go next?"

(Bristenn shifts his eyes, dubiously.)

You shrug nonchalantly at Gutstorm.

Tennalnen points at himself.

Vaemyr glances at Grutak.

Lithyia

Lithyia says, "I believe Grutak is deferring his turn to me."

Vaemyr nods.

Vaemyr says, "Lithyia then."

Vaemyr nods at Lithyia.

Lithyia says, "I have a statement and not so much a question."

Speaking quietly to himself, Tennalnen says, "Then me."

Speaking to himself, Dendum says, ""As is tradition."

Kiyna nods at Tennalnen.

You feel a grin spreading across your face, the thick fabric of your cowl touching your cheeks.

Lithyia recites:

"I have lived in this town on and off for twenty years. I have helped defend it before. I am of the empire i realize this. HOwever..."

Lithyia recites:

"Their arrival here has brought us nothing but trouble. I will not defend them at this time. I knit for them when they were cold. BUt frankly, I am tired...I am so tired of fighting battles for other people"

Lithyia recites:

"At the end of the day, i am going to do what i think is right. And some of you may not like that."

Queatus nods at Lithyia.

Lithyia recites:

"Nice Lithyia...is done."

Kiyna nods at Lithyia.

Lithyia says, "And that is all i have to say about that."

Grutak says, "That's m'girl."

Irval raises his hand.

Lithyia begins to twitch.

Queatus nods at Lithyia.

Lithyia smiles at Queatus.

Vaemyr recites:

"Tennalnen"

Speaking to Lithyia, Kiyna says, "By all means. The people of the Landing are free to do as they please. You are not an army that we command."

Speaking to Lithyia, Chandrellia says, "That is exactly what the council has been trying to say the entire time, people will fight or not fight at their own free choosing, yet if those do fight the reivers will see it as threat and attack, thank you for finaly listening to what the council has been saying the entire time."

Tennalnen

Tennalnen recites:

"Now I know this is going to cause a stir, but I want people to remember it is a second hand rumor, overheard in our busy Town Square Central. Earlier today, I overheard a few townsfolk claiming that Old Peg had seen Jantalarian Troops moving towards Darkstone Bay"

Tennalnen recites:

"Shortly after this occured, I was in Town Square Southwest informing Lord Svardin of the Drakes Vanguard of what I had overheard, when suddenly we were sucked into a Temporal Rift."

Tennalnen recites:

"After escaping the rift I made my way back to town and discovered a few others had had similar experiences, and not just in Town Square Southwest. I have no idea why the rift opened, if it has anything to do with Old Pegs rumored sights, but I felt it important enough to share with everyone"

Speaking to Raelee, Kiyna asks, "Temporal rift? Should I be worried about that?"

Xorus nods slowly.

Tennalnen says, "Thank you."

Sweeping his arm outward, Tennalnen bows low in a grand fashion.

Stormyrain nods gratefully at Tennalnen.

Queatus nods at Tennalnen.

Tennalnen strides a few steps backward.

Nalver raises his hand.

Pukk exclaims, "I blame Amos!"

Speaking neutrally to Kiyna, Raelee says, "Possibly."

Nalver says, "I got sucked too."

Speaking to Tennalnen, Vaemyr says, "Aye I had talked to some that experienced the same."

Tennalnen says, "It was, quite the experience."

Nalver says, "It was Svardin, Guts, Sepherann, Frieya, Coins, Myself, Eofora, Tennalnen."

Speaking to Kiyna, Raelee says, "I, for one, find temporal rifts fascinating. But, I do understand that others have a different opinion."

Speaking to Lithyia, Morikun says, "Oi, them settlers wanna come live here, that's fine by me, Shanty Town got room, but all these new barons and soldiers carving us up can walk back south ways."

Vaemyr says, "First I would like to say, Elidal said Sablo would likely be returning with armed forces in the spring, it would not surprise me if some Jantalar mercenaries were part of that, heck many of our own town asked him to get forces to defend themselves."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Me wud mining me own bitnesh."

Speaking to Gutstorm, Nalver says, "You had two ladies on your arm. Hardly your own business."

Lithyia says, "They could certainly come live within our walls or go to Vornavis... but i wont lift a damn finger to help them outside the gates now."

Vaemyr says, "As for the temporal rifts, they are concerning, I went to investigate as soon as i heard, but I could not find any remnants or traces of them. I hope to ask Magister Raelee and perhaps some of the research team to add them to their investigations."

Xorus says, "Melgorehn's Reach causes such effects when it is disturbed. There are other possible causes, of course, of temporal rifting."

Speaking to Raelee, Vaemyr says, "I'll send an official request to the outpost."

Ceilia

Vaemyr recites:

"Ceilia"

Kiyna points at you!

You briskly say, "Right, some questions for the councilors and probably a couple more."

>look kayse

I could not find what you were referring to.

It was at this point I realized Kayse was not present. -Ed

Stormyrain leans against a wide burnished oak archway.

Stormyrain folds her arms over her chest.

Speaking to Kiyna, you ask, "Councilor, do you support committing forces from the Landing to Support the Imperial camp?"

Speaking to you, Kiyna says, "When you say "forces from the Landing", what do you mean? We don't have an army."

Speaking to Kiyna, you say, "I'll get to that shortly. What I'm asking is whether you're prepared to declare the Landing neutral and do your best to make that a reality."

Speaking to you, Vaemyr says, "I can say I do not, however, if people volunteer to do what their hearts tell them, or if the Imperials wish to hire mercanaries from the landing, I will not stop people."

You nod at Vaemyr.

Speaking to you, Kiyna says, "Declare the Landing neutral? I'm against it. Again, I'm not the whole council."

Speaking to Kiyna, you ask, "Against neutrality, so I understand?"

Speaking to you, Kiyna says, "In this particular instance, yes. Our enemies aren't interested in it, either."

Vaemyr says, "To force neutrality is to remove the very freedom so many in this room toute so very much, that is a very very slippery slope."

You furrow your brow, probably adding a wrinkle or two in the process.

Queatus ponders.

Kiyna says, "And besides, it would just be the opinion of the council. The Mayor has a say, too."

Tikba glances skeptically at Vaemyr.

Speaking to Kiyna, you say, "You were present for the warchief's visit, I'm not sure how you came away with the notion they were not going to honor their agreement."

Kiyna peers quizzically at you.

Tikba nods in agreement to you.

Perigourd chuckles.

Speaking to you, Kiyna says, "I'm not sure how you could think they would."

Speaking to you, Kiyna says, "He said it himself. He's not a peacechief."

You say, "The warchief walked up to a town with his mother's head on a pike and asked to parlay."

Lylia nods at Kiyna.

You say, "That pretty clearly illustrates the lenght's he's willing to go for diplomacy."

Perigourd shakes his head.

Speaking to you, Kiyna corrects, "Pretended to parley. The vitriol in his words was palpable."

You look at Kiyna and shake your head.

You say, "Have you met Reivers before? Vitriol is their mother tongue."

Tikba looks thoughtfully at Kiyna.

Perigourd glances skeptically around the room.

Queatus nods.

You shrug nonchalantly.

Speaking to you, Kiyna says, "Not a great way to parley, if so. Still, I stand by what I said. Suppose we do stand aside."

Speaking to you, Vaemyr asks, "Do you have any other questions?"

You say, "Several."

Bristenn clears his throat.

Bristenn briefly mumbles, "Pardon."

Sir Bristenn just went through a wide burnished oak archway.

Here Bristenn leaves, later to return with news. -Ed.

Vaemyr says, "Then please go ahead, it is getting late."

Kiyna sighs.

Kiyna agrees with Vaemyr.

Speaking to Vaemyr, you say, "You mentioned a few minutes ago that one of your roles as councilor was to check power on other parts of the government."

Vaemyr nods to you.

Lylia takes a slow, deep breath then pinches the bridge of her nose.

You ask, "Are the Landing's contingent of Knights a force you consider part of your government?"

Vaemyr says, "No."

Stormyrain folds her arms over her chest.

You say, "Then you're effectively powerless in this matter."

Perigourd glances at Stormyrain.

You turn to face Guarrin.

Perigourd scratches at his beard.

Stormyrain clenches her jaw.

Vaemyr says, "The town commands a town guard, and a volunteer militia under Steward Thrayzar and under Marshal Stormyrain."

Vaemyr coughs.

Guarrin nods at Vaemyr.

Perigourd nods in agreement at Vaemyr.

Cryheart nods at Vaemyr.

Vaemyr says, "A town guard under Thrazary and militia under Stormy."

Kiyna nods at Vaemyr.

Speaking to Guarrin, you say, "Sir Knight, I understand your order has a sworn duty to protect the Landing from harm."

Tikba glances between Guarrin and yourself.

Speaking to you, Guarrin says, "I am Guarrin. Yes, that is part of our oath."

Kiyna says, "We have no authority to tell the Silver Gryphons what to do. They may heed our counsel, and I like to think they would, but they are not ours to command."

Speaking to Guarrin, you say, "Ceil. Forgive me for not introducing myself."

Vaemyr takes a deep breath.

Guarrin notes, "Our Order coordinates with the Marshal on matters of defense."

You nod.

Guarrin adds, "We also, attend discussions like this so we can understand the council's stance on a variety of topics."

You say, "Perfectly understandable."

You ask, "With regard to the Imperial camp, do you feel there is risk that getting involved with it could bring danger to the Landing?"

Speaking to you, Guarrin asks, "Getting involved in what way?"

Pukk sighs loudly.

Pukk shakes his head.

You say, "Insofar as going to battle against the Reivers to protect it."

Pukk just went through a wide burnished oak archway.

Speaking to you, Guarrin asks, "In regards specifically to the Reivers?"

You nod.

Vendayan says, "I feel like this has been addressed half a dozen times now."

Speaking to you, Guarrin says, "There is more to our oath. To protect those who cannot. When I look at the camp, I see people that are in need of aid."

Roelon dusts off his black woolen kilt.

Roelon sits down.

Cryheart nods at Guarrin.

Speaking to you, Vaemyr says, "If you are done with question for the council I am going to proceed."

Tikba looks thoughtfully at Guarrin.

Vaemyr says, "We have people waiting for a long time."

Speaking to Guarrin, you ask, "How do you choose, when those oathes come into conflict?"

Speaking to you, Guarrin says, "I think we should try to resolve things with the part of the reiver clan that has split off peacefully, if possible, however, historically that has not proven successful."

Tikba mildly says, "I would like to hear Sir Guarrin and Ceilia speak."

Dendum nods.

You nod appreciatively.

Speaking to you, Guarrin says, "With great care, consideration, and discussion amongst our Order."

Queatus whispers, "How are they in need of aid? They have been offered refuge by their government!"

Speaking to you, Chandrellia says, "I am sure Sir Guarrin would be more the nhappy to discuss that after the meeting with you, Sir Guarrin loves to sit and talk about thngs like that."

Morikun says, "All I is learn'n tonight is the people of the Landing ain't have no say in our defenders or town council. You all gonna go to war gainst the Reivers whether we like it or not. Good luck with all that! When they storm through town to kill us all because you russle'd em up, you can point and say "see, told yas so!"."

Geijon peers quizzically at Chandrellia.

Guarrin chuckles to himself.

Speaking seriously to Guarrin, you ask, "Are you prepared to make a decision on the matter that could endanger the lives of those in the city?"

Guarrin says, "Indeed. I find matters such as the defense of our town and relations with neighbors important."

Tikba mildly says, "I understood that this meeting was to discuss the Landing's policy on the reivers. This conversation seems the best way to pursue that goal."

Speaking to you, Guarrin says, "I have made many such decisions, and I imagine I will have to do so again."

Roelon rubs his chin thoughtfully.

Kiyna says, "To add to Sir Guarrin's point, we have people reaching out to the more peaceful reivers that we have had an understanding with for some time."

You nod understandingly.

Sir Bristenn just came through a wide burnished oak archway.

Here Bristenn returns with news. -ED.

Dendum reminds, "These reivers were THOSE reivers until the empire came."

Speaking to Kiyna, you say, "Those peacful Reivers are not the ones that will attack the town at a misstep."

Missoni shifts her eyes to Dendum.

Alosaka says, "Again, skull, stick."

Speaking to Dendum, Vaemyr asks, "Were they?"

Vaemyr points at Alosaka.

Missoni agrees with Alosaka.

Missoni murmurs, "This mark on my neck says otherwise."

Speaking to Guarrin, you say, "I won't suppose to tell you how to operate, but I will make a suggestion that could alleviate pressure on the Landing."

Guarrin nods encouragingly.

Speaking to you, Chandrellia says, "No but they may have inside information as to how to get the Vale reivers to stop and rethink their lifes choices, theleader of teh peaceful reivers is the son of the not so peaceful."

Speaking to Guarrin, you say, "The optics of a line of fighters treading like ants from the Landing to an Imperial battle line will not be lost on the Reiver Warchief."

You say, "If you choose to fight, please stage and triage in the Imperial camp."

Vaemyr glances at you.

Stormyrain chuckles to herself.

Tikba nods in agreement to you.

Stormyrain asks, "Shall the rest of us, as well then?"

Morikun nods.

Guarrin nods appreciatively to you.

Tikba mildly says, "It would seem best."

Bristenn rubs his chin thoughtfully.

You quietly whisper to Guarrin, "And as a professional courtesy - losing your insignia for the duration of the battle is very effective."

Morikun nods to you.

Vaemyr grins at Stormyrain.

Kiyna says, "I see no issue with that."

You nod appreciatively at Guarrin.

Kiyna says, "Well, if Elidal and Sablo allow us to stage there."

Tikba gazes in amusement at Kiyna.

Guarrin whispers, "I am fraid that is something I will not do, but, yes, I am familiar with that tactic."

Speaking to you, Vaemyr says, "I will leave those things up to our militiary commanders to figure out."

Vaemyr nods at Stormyrain.

Tikba amusedly says, "Lady Aronia's temple is not in use."

Dendum nods to you.

You nod briskly!

You say, "Thank you, that concludes me. Thanks for being patient."

Bristenn

Vaemyr says, "Sir Bristenn has a message he's received and would like to share, please forgive the interuption of the order."

Tikba says, "We may consecrate it thusly."

Vaemyr nods at Bristenn.

Stormyrain nods gratefully at Vaemyr.

Bristenn clears his throat.

Bristenn clearly begins, "My apologies. As I stepped outside, one of the Runners guild girls approached me with a missive."

Bristenn offhandedly notes, "She'd like to have the council and those here know that the Wellington Home has just received a generous donation of one million silvers."

You quietly whisper to Chandrellia, "Sorry too much going to comment at the time, but that's a very good point."

Vaemyr smiles.

Roelon raises an eyebrow.

Missoni nods approvingly.

You feel your face lighten as a smile spreads across your face, the thick fabric of your cowl hiding the majority of the expression, though it can do nothing for your eyes.

Stormyrain nods approvingly.

Cryheart smiles at Bristenn.

Vaemyr says, "Good news indeed."

Lylia says, "I am certain it will be put to good use."

Kothos says, "Interesting. How wonderful."

Kiyna smiles.

Guarrin nods approvingly at Bristenn.

Roelon nods slowly.

Bernadette nods briskly!

Bristenn simply continues, "This was brought to the Wellington Home by some of the very same imperial settlers being discussed currently. The note on the chest read Samfelt Cobbleman."

Kiyna nods at Bristenn.

Tikba nods thoughtfully at Bristenn.

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Me need to open an orpinich, lotta money to be made."

Bristenn simply concludes, "Such is all I have. Do carry on."

Talmaris

Vaemyr recites:

"Talmaris is next"

Vaemyr nods at Talmaris.

Tikba gazes with interest at Talmaris.

Talmaris says, "I have no question, but a statement."

Vaemyr nods at Talmaris.

Cryheart turns to face Talmaris.

Talmaris says, "We all have different reasons when we enter bloody battles, be they instinctive self-preservation or deeply considered ethical principles."

Talmaris says, "Some take up their weapons when they wish to protect their family and friends."

Cryheart nods at Talmaris.

Speaking darkly to Bristenn, Wolfloner asks, "Sir Miles. Is the Azure Sun capable of defending the imperial camp? Or will you need the assistance of the Landing?"

Talmaris says, "There are also times when standing aside is the way to protect one's family and friends."

Talmaris says, "The case for each has been voiced several times tonight."

(Lylia ignores everyone but Talmaris with almost tangible intensity.)

Speaking to Lylia, Chandrellia whispers aloud, "Well now they have that to throw in our face if we dont fight, how can a reasonable choice be made when things like that happen, dont get me wrong, the donation is needed and appreciated, but this was bad timing in my opinon."

Talmaris says, "It doesn't strike me as a mad thing to believe that that Ember Vale clan will attack our town regardless of what we do, nor does it strike me as a mad thing to believe there is an opportunity to avoid casualties in our town."

Speaking to Geijon, Morikun says, "Oi, lotta people in this town built a lotta things with their blood and sweat."

Lylia narrows her eyes.

Tikba nods thoughtfully at Talmaris.

Talmaris says, "Whatever any individual chooses, they act accordingly on a gambit."

Vendayan raises his hand.

Talmaris says, "I hope that we can at least come away from the night understanding each other's perspectives."

Vaemyr nods at Talmaris.

Talmaris says, "...though I also know better than to expect it."

Talmaris smirks.

Kiyna nods appreciatively at Talmaris.

Vaemyr begins chuckling at Talmaris!

Talmaris says, "That is all."

Tikba gazes in amusement at Talmaris.

Talmaris bows.

Cryheart grins at Talmaris.

Looking satisfied, Dendum nods in agreement at Talmaris.

Morikun says, "Enough of all this and you're gonna be creating more orphans for the House, eh? Guess the mil is paying forward the havoc you're creating."

Queatus nods at Talmaris.

Lylia nods appreciatively at Talmaris.

Vendayan says, "I might have one simple question if I could be added to the queue."

Speaking to Talmaris, Vaemyr says, "Thank you for the statement."

Vaemyr nods at Vendayan.

Speaking darkly to Bristenn, Wolfloner asks, "Sir Mires. Does the Azure need the assistance of the Landing to defend the settlers within the Imperial encampment?"

Alosaka (2)

Alosaka nods respectfully.

Vaemyr nods at Alosaka.

Alosaka says, "I understand why people want peace. I honor the councilmembers who put the safety of the town foremost in their minds. And I recognize that even the people here I most disagree with have fought valiantly to defend the town. But for everyone, I have a question -- to consider, if not answer aloud."

Alosaka asks, "Does anyone here honestly believe it is right or just to simply stand by as your neighbor, even a neighbor to whom you owe no debt or obligation, is murdered? Their house broken into and plundered? Would anyone say that the virtuous response to witnessing such a crime is to do nothing except assure the murderer and robber that you mean them no harm, and they are free to do as they wish, so long as it is not your family they slay?"

Speaking quietly to Bristenn, Lylia murmurs, "Did you join the Landing's Town Council, or are you taking random questions now too?"

You quietly say, "Bloody town was all about peace until a few days ago."

Speaking simply to Vaemyr, Alosaka says, "That is all."

Gutstorm ponders.

Speaking darkly to Lylia, Wolfloner says, "Seemed relevant to me. Please continue."

Bristenn tosses a knowing glance toward Lylia, taps his nose, and then points at her.

Gutstorm

Vaemyr recites:

"Gutstorm"

Queatus asks, "Did my neighbor steal the house he is living in?"

Vaemyr nods at Gutstorm.

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Me fergot wut me hadta axe, and me not even know what dish meetin about."

Speaking to Alosaka, Lylia says, "We are well aware that the town's jurisdiction ends at its walls, as much as I fought to make it otherwise and was stymied. I believe that we all have the freedom, as much as others love this word, to choose our own paths."

Speaking darkly to Evia, Wolfloner says, "I will take that as you are not up to the task."

Morikun says, "Aye, we got it, we can only get peace through war. Reivers raiding through our town is the only way to save the urchins and all that."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "And dish table is broke."

Roelon offers Gutstorm a tumbler of salted caramel whiskey.

Speaking quietly to himself, Talmaris mutters, "Might not even be a matter of 'expectation' at this point."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Cant put me milk on it."

Tikba mildly says, "We do not, I fear."

Gutstorm accepts Roelon's salted caramel whiskey.

Gutstorm taps Vaemyr lightly on his shoulder.

Geijon glances at Wolfloner.

Speaking to Wolfloner, Geijon asks, "Why would you say that to her?"

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Erm."

Vaemyr says, "I'll get... uhh right on it."

Tikba mildly says, "For if some citizens of the Landing choose war, all citizens will receive it, regardless of what they may have chosen."

Vaemyr nods.

Vaemyr nods at Gutstorm.

Gutstorm renders a salute with his salted caramel whiskey.

Roelon grins slowly.

Queatus agrees with Tikba.

Gutstorm takes a drink from his salted caramel whiskey.

For no reason at all Gutstorm suddenly lurches forward into the dirt.

Irval

Vaemyr recites:

"Irval"

Lylia turns to face Irval.

Morikun says, "May Manrolt save us all."

Kiyna agrees with Tikba.

Irval nods.

Talmaris takes a moment to observe Irval.

Irval coughs.

Irval says, "The ways I see itt, The imperials are our neighbors now, they always have been. Albeit a little . Ok a lot closer now. We are still free . We still, while not imperial, enjoy the comfort of being a protectorate and that with which the empire brings. But, we also as neighbors should not stand by and watch those settlers burn in the firey embers of war. I get that some of you don't like your new neighbors. Tough thats life. Deal with it. Or don't. Actions of the past have led of to the point we currently stand in. An old enemy has arisen. Son of the Hag. Like it or not . This one was always the enemy of the landing. Do what you think is best for you and yours. But either put up or shut up. The Ember Vale Reivers never intended to negotiate..."

Irval says, "Thats what I gotta say about that."

Speaking to Irval, Dendum remarks, ""You have perfected art of not asking question during question time."

Dendum says, "Was not even accidental question in all of that."

Speaking to Irval, Lylia says, "Took a bit of listening closely, but...well said."

Vendayan

Vaemyr recites:

"And last but not least Vendayan"

Vaemyr nods at Vendayan.

Goldstr says, "Well said."

Vendayan asks, "I agree with Alosaka 's views on whether or not we should deserve the Empire as an ally if we stood aside, but pragmatically, have you considered that we could jeopardize our protectorate status if we stood aside and watched dozens of helpless refugees get murdered?"

Perigourd looks thoughtfully at Vendayan.

Lylia gazes with interest at Vendayan.

Tikba glances skeptically at Vendayan.

Stormyrain folds her arms over her chest.

Speaking to Vendayan, Vaemyr says, "I don't really think they would take that as reason to invade us, not with the order from Jovery received. However it could have negative implications of trade, future defensive missions, and other things I believe."

Speaking to Vendayan, Chandrellia says, "The way I see it, we are screwed if do, we are screwed if we dont, so we need to make a choice as in an indvidual and do what we feel we need to do for our new, neighbors and this town."

Vaemyr points at Chandrellia.

Kayse folds her wings across her back.

Speaking to Chandrellia, Lylia says, "This is where it will be highly useful for the Town Council and the mayor to defer to the letter of the law and the jurisdiction of the Landing ending at its walls."

Vaemyr says, "And with that."

Kelfyr says, "If they are officially recognized as a threat to the Empire, they would carry the same status in the town."

Speaking to Kiyna, Vaemyr asks, "Any closing statements?"

Kelfyr says, "What that obligates the town to is a different question."

Roelon grins slowly.

Fahlo says, "Well... see you all on the battlefield."

Fahlo takes a bite of his green apple.

Fahlo waves.

Fahlo just went through a wide burnished oak archway.

Chandrellia takes a deep breath.

Chandrellia slowly empties her lungs.

Wolfloner darkly says, "Seems war is inevitable then."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Who we fightin?"

Speaking to Wolfloner, Chandrellia asks, "Is it ever not?"

Speaking to Gutstorm, Kelfyr says, "Sobriety, I guess."

Speaking darkly to Chandrellia, Wolfloner says, "We will never know."

Bristenn politely offers, "My thanks to the Wehnimer's Landing Town Council for hosting this gathering."

Speaking to Wolfloner, Chandrellia says, "I would love to see a peacful resolution take place."

Speaking to Gutstorm, Morikun says, "Whoever them Empire folks needs killed."

Kayse slowly empties her lungs.

Kiyna says, "As a closing note... I am not bloodthirsty. I would prefer we could just get them to make peace and be done with it. I am also, however, realistic. I don't see this being possible."

Dendum whispers, "We try and meet tomorrow at 10 as the elves tell time."

Chandrellia agrees with Kiyna.

Speaking quietly to Kiyna, you say, "Thanks for hearing me out."

You nod appreciatively.

Speaking darkly to Kiyna, Wolfloner says, "The never a serious effort to avoid it, so we will never know."

You quietly whisper to Dendum, "Ten."

Speaking to Kiyna, Lylia says, "That is one of the reasons I have appreciated you as a Town Council member; you deal with facts instead of stamping your feet and insisting on fantasy."

Wolfloner darkly says, "It has been a fore gone conclusion."

Speaking to Wolfloner, Kiyna says, "The Ember Vale reivers made it so, unfortunately."

Irval says, "They were always coming."

Tikba mildly says, "Alosaka reminds me, correctly, that we have failed to discuss the perhaps more pressing issue of the Remnants."

Cryheart says, "So far, there is always hope."

Speaking to Kiyna, you say, "Only your rigidity made it so, Councilor."

Speaking to Tikba, Kiyna says, "There simply is not time."

Geijon says, "One of th' opening questions tonight was about th' fatigue of war. It should always be avoided until it cannot be."

Speaking darkly to Irval, Wolfloner says, "There is not blood fued. A great hero of the Battle of the imperial roltons."

Vaemyr says, "I just want to add, I do respect the neutrality path, heck I'm typically the one pushing for that perhaps more than most in this room. However, I've also witnessed many times like this one, where I had wished I'd acted sooner, perhaps it's wrong, perhaps it's right. I cannot make that choice for anyone else but myself."

A massive snowy white tiger yawns widely and lashes her tail from side to side.

Bernadette nods at Geijon.

Tikba says, "I am sure they will be happy to hear that."

Roelon nods slowly at Geijon.

Speaking to you, Chandrellia says, "Then perhaps you will add your name to the ballot next term and then you can see how it works."

You feel a grin spreading across your face, the thick fabric of your cowl touching your cheeks.

Roelon grins at Chandrellia.

Speaking to Chandrellia, you say, "Can't serve - convicted felon."

Talmaris says, "This was a producti... A lively meeting, at the least."

You chortle.

Speaking to Tikba, Alosaka says, "I'm sure there will be other nights."

Brookshire asks, "Sir Cryheart, I have a question for you, would you mind answering it for me?"

Kayse tenderly pats Tikba's arm.

Speaking deeply to you, Roelon says, "Nae stopped some from servin' as Mayor."

Cryheart turns to face Brookshire.

Cryheart says, "Sure."

You feel the corners of your lips lift in a smirk, your eyes crinkling slightly.

Opalina agrees with Roelon.

Morikun says, "People be painting their own realities and facts around heres and call'n facts fantasies. I ain't kill'n a reiver unless he be walk'n down the streets of the Landing trying to kill our people."

Cryheart says, "A moment."

Speaking to Morikun, Lylia exclaims, "Wonderful!"

Speaking to Cryheart, Brookshire says, "This fellow, Samfelt, the one who just donated to the wellington house."

Lylia says, "In the common vernacular...'you do you.'."

Kayse surreptitiously glances at a finely penned parchment.

Cryheart asks, "Aye?"

You quietly whisper to Roelon, "That was just my favorite excuse for not serving. All the good ones aren't appropriate for polite company."

(Lylia gestures magnanimously.)

Tikba grins at Kayse.

Speaking to you, Chandrellia says, "Then stop, disprepecting those that are in this position unless you have been there you have no idea what its like! we get beratted and judged for every little thing that goes on, we are blamed for each and every mistake whether it be ours or someone elses just, do us a favor and bring positive thoughts to the next meeting."

Kiyna nods appreciatively at Perigourd.

Roelon grins slowly.

Kayse rolls her eyes at Stormyrain.

You give your eyebrow a little workout.

Vaemyr smiles at Chandrellia.

Lylia says, "In fact..."

Speaking to Chandrellia, Vaemyr asks, "Can I appoint you our new PR manager?"

Speaking to Chandrellia, you say, "I've been quite a number of places I suspect you havent. I'm here trying to bring that wisdom to your elected leaders."

Lylia passionately declares, "I have been moved by the talk of freedom that rings so loudly in these lands, and we must heed its call, allowing everyone individual freedom to decide what is best for themselves."

Speaking to Vaemyr, Chandrellia says, "Sadly no I have had my fill of the seats you now hold."

Vaemyr grins.

Vaemyr nods at Chandrellia.

Tikba gazes in amusement at Lylia.

Lylia continues, "So by your leave, and seeing as the Council's domain ends where our town's walls do, I shall look forward to killing whomever I please in the wilds. This is the nature of freedom, after all, the freedom to do precisely what we please, all of the time, with no thought to consequence."

Speaking to Cryheart, Brookshire asks, "You say Orphans getting killed by the war, I asume the reviers we are talking about, is this money from Samfelt, to pay for those deaths, is Samfelt representing the Reviers?"

Xorus chuckles.

Speaking to you, Chandrellia says, "You know nothing about me ma'am so dont try to start and judge me liek you have this council."

Vaemyr grins at Lylia.

Stormyrain smiles at Lylia.

Lylia grandiosely shouts, "Let freedom reign!"

Emperia begins chuckling at Lylia!

Speaking to Vaemyr, Vendayan asks, "She would only get blamed for all the blaming, I suppose?"

Cryheart says, "No..Samfelt is a settler..and he has recently been named an emissary for the settlers."

Speaking to Lylia, Kothos says, "So we're the invaders, all along."

Earthdiver nods with satisfaction.

Cryheart nods at Brookshire.

Vaemyr smirks at Vendayan.

Chandrellia grins at Vendayan.

Speaking to Perigourd, Lylia says, "Ah, now you know more of why he married me, too."

Lylia flashes a quick grin.

Perigourd begins chuckling at Lylia!

Irval says, "Naw the Rievers lost their land to the Krolvin."

Stormyrain gazes in amusement at Lylia.

Roelon surveys the area.

Speaking to Lylia, Kothos says, "I think he might have had an advantage."

Tikba looks thoughtfully at Alosaka.

Speaking to Cryheart, Brookshire asks, "But why would he donated a large sum of money to the wellington house, and a settler with that kind of money, that dosent make a lot of sense, plus he is an Emissary?"

Lylia says, "He has."

Speaking to Kiyna, Chandrellia says, "I do sudgest however that if we do fight we try and get word to the Tyrax and se if will lend a hand againstteh reivers, after all, he does owe us one."

Kelfyr says, "It's not out of his pocket."

Perigourd glances warily at Chandrellia.

Speaking to Chandrellia, Kiyna says, "That's not part of the deal we have with him. We don't want to make any more deals."

Anyauma frowns.

Cryheart says, "My opinion he is a caring person."

Speaking to Kelfyr, you ask, "What's it out of, the camp's funds?"

Irval agrees with Cryheart.

Xorus raises an eyebrow.

Speaking dryly to Kelfyr, Alosaka says, "I don't know, we did shower him with a fair amount of spoils after the night with the spiders."

You furrow your brow, probably adding a wrinkle or two in the process.

Speaking to Cryheart, Brookshire asks, "And you did same the orpahns are getting killed?"

Speaking to Brookshire, Lylia says, "He has come into a bit of money, I imagine, of late. His increased prominence and the largess of others. It his his own will to donate it, however."

Cryheart says, "But I dinnae think it is out of his own pocket."

Speaking to Kiyna, Chandrellia says, "Well I tried."

Kayse says, "He said Elidal will have to confirm the donation too. It's a term Jaysehn and Akenna asked for in utilitzing his fleet for Bodohal."

Speaking to Brookshire, Vaemyr says, "This was donated on behalf of Darkstone, it was requested as payment for securing passage on a vessel by a neutral party."

Lylia nods at Chandrellia.

Irval says, "Ive sensed nothing but goodness in Sam, I pray your poison doesnt taint a good man."

Tikba nods understandingly at Kayse.

Missoni agrees with Kayse.

Vaemyr points at Kayse.

Speaking to Lylia, Kothos says, "Tall, articulate and scary- he'd give an Ur-Daemon nightmares."

Vendayan asks, "Wait... who donated a million silvers to the orphanage?"

Cryheart says, "No, I was talking about children."

Speaking to Alosaka, Kelfyr says, "If so, you folks were obscenely generous."

Cryheart says, "In general."

Lylia nods appreciatively at Kayse.

Goldstr says, "If a rogue clan if da Reivers attacked Mule er 'Haven would any here rush to der aide? Our new neighbors be da same."

Tikba shrugs slightly at Alosaka.

Lylia asks, "Samfelt. You may have met him?"

With a high-pitched growl, a floppy-eared white puppy masked with a patch of void black fur starts to chase her long tail in dizzying circles.

Speaking to Vaemyr, Brookshire asks, "So the donation was a fee then, is that right?"

Speaking to Lylia, Morikun says, "I gots to deal with when ya'll bring this down on us in the walls though, so i 'spose your freedom is a freedom, but ya freedom gonna burn the town for the Empire. Least your tower isn't Imperials....yet. Good luck with ya dances then."

Roelon whispers something to Geijon.

Cryheart says, "Thank ye for the conversation."

Speaking to Brookshire, Chandrellia says, "More like a bribe but yes."

Speaking to Brookshire, Geijon says, "Look at things from a point of positive intent. Perhaps that was all they had and they gave it."

Geijon says, "To better others."

Guarrin says, "Thank you once again councilors for holding these discussions."

Irval says, "After while Warhorse."

Roelon nods at Guarrin.

Speaking to Morikun, Kiyna says, "It must be nice to have the freedom to sit and heckle all night."

Speaking to Brookshire, Vaemyr says, "Sort of? I guess? It was asked, as a fee I guess, but it's like paying that fee to charity, all in all it is a good result."

Speaking to Morikun, Lylia asks, "Pardon me, my use of the common tongue is not the finest. Whom do you mean when you speak of 'y'all?"

Speaking to Kiyna, Chandrellia says, "Oh you were acyually listening to him, I stopped doing that long ago."

Tikba appears to be struggling to keep a straight face as she glances at Lylia.

Speaking to Kiyna, Morikun says, "Must be nice to sacrifice people without a care."

Speaking to Brookshire, Vaemyr says, "And speaks well to both Jaysehn and Akenna and Samfelt for seeing it come to fruition."

Speaking to Morikun, Lylia asks, "Are you mistaking me for an elected Town Council member? An Imperial baroness? A Rook?"

Lylia says, "I would like you to define your terms."

Speaking to Lylia, Morikun says, "Every'one march'n out there to raise trouble that ain't needed."

Irval says, "Right then, As I see this meeting is devolvin. Id like to take this as an out and bid you all safe hunting...Mostly. Thanks for your time."

Speaking to Vaemyr, Brookshire says, "Okay, sorry, Im out of touch a bit, so I'm listening to everything every day, dtrying to piece things together."

Speaking to Chandrellia, Vaemyr says, "You missed them handing out masks! maybe you can ask to borrow gutstorm's."

Lylia says, "The Town Council is sacrificing no one, and the insinuations that they are are the inflammatory words of an angry child seeking to provoke exasperated assent from a harried parent."

Lylia coolly says, "Grow up and out of it."

Speaking to Vaemyr, Chandrellia says, "Naw, it would cover mypretty face."

You quietly whisper to Kayse, "Before I go, are you too in favor of fighting with the Imperial camp?"

Vaemyr grins at Chandrellia.

Kiyna says, "I am not the council. Just one part of it. I've made my position known."

Lylia says, "Goodnight, Irval."

Kelfyr picks up a finely penned parchment.

Kelfyr tucks a finely penned parchment into a small pocket inside of his green leather cloak.

Lylia says, "I appreciated your words tonight, quite a bit."

Speaking to Lylia, Morikun says, "Everyone a child that don't agree with yas, I gets it. Maybe I'll register meself at that urchin house."

Kayse whispers, "I do not want Wehnimer's to become involved in another obstacle or fight that is not theirs."

Tikba leans softly against Kayse.

Speaking to Morikun, Lylia asks, "Oh, you never did clarify whom you meant when you said 'y'all.' Are you still mistaking me for someone?"

Kayse whispers, "As I told the Warchief, he could have his roltons back if he didn't attack us."

You quietly whisper to Kayse, "Could have used you either. Your fellow councilors think war was delcared on the Landing as soon as the warchief wouldn't agree to spare the campsite."

(OOC) You quietly whisper to Kayse, "Earlier, I mean."

Lylia whispers something to Kiyna.

Kiyna says, "Thank you all for coming."

Kiyna leans on Lylia.

Kayse whispers, "Yes, I unexpectedly had to step out."

Lylia says, "Thank you for enduring us."

Morikun says, "Oi, I fought Gnul, been in this town all my life, but what I get for it? Labled a child sitt'n on the sidelines cause I don't think we should kill our neighbor folks for the Empire."

(OOC) Kayse's player whispers, "::cries:: bad night to get a two hour phone call."

(OOC) You quietly whisper to Kayse, "Don't sweat it, but sorry ou missed it!"

Speaking to Kiyna, Alosaka says, "Thank you for hosting us, and lending some semblance of order to the evening. Praise and adulation."

Speaking resignedly to Kayse, Tikba says, "We must prepare for war, as there is no desire to avoid it."

Kayse nods slowly at Stormyrain.

Morikun says, "Ain't no reason to be out there tussle'n with em. None at all."

You tug the hood attached to your cowl up onto your head, easily hiding your face in its folds.

[Moot Hall, Upstairs Corridor - 397]

The end of the hallway is enclosed by large burgundy rugs. Potted plants are displayed on brass stands resting between a polished maoral door and a richly carved mahogany door. The dark corridor doesn't offer much in terms of natural lighting. You also see a wide burnished oak archway and a sturdy ladder.

Obvious exits: west
