Opalina (prime)/Fire Study

Passing through the Commons a message catches my eye “Fires acting funny is this happening to you? Please report” This is most curious, So I purchased wood. Not just once piece from one place,but wood from all over! I purchased different kinds of wood from Uxbri Foresttarts. I purchased A few chunks of dry firewood for 100 silvers each from the Isle of the four winds, I purchased split logs and chunks of firewood from Uxbri Foresttarts in Icemule for a smaller price of 55 silvers, Then I also purchased a bundle of pine wood, a bundle of cedar wood, a bundle of mesquite wood, a bundle of oak wood, a bundle of hickory wood, a handful of tinder (7), a bundle of cherry wood from Yeubick also from Icemule. These were much higher priced. Some being upwards to 18000 silvers each bundle.
With my arms and bags loaded down with all the wood I could carry I returned to my home and started lighting the fires. My husband joined me watching me work and chatting with me to keep me company as we watched the flames grow and melt before our eyes. Taking notes, we tried to track the length of time each fire burned from its onset till it stopped.
Some fires we built were more like campfires which burned for a good solid 20 minutes each time. The heat was steady and burned from the campfires leaving no mess. The campfire smoke left the scent of a delicious woods smell on our bodies akin to the type of wood we used.
It is the fireplace fires that really showed differences. Though the heat of each different piece of wood we used seems to be equally hot they did not all burn at exactly the same speed. We documented one piece of wood purchased from the isle to burn for only 2.5 minutes while others from the same batch burned to upwards of 5 minutes each. While other woods from Icemule were consistently burning at the same rate of 5 minutes each. Our second experiment was to use multiple pieces of firewood which resulted with three pieces of wood from Icemule to burn for a good 20 minutes. We had one batch of Isle wood stacked with four pieces of wood only burn for 15 minutes. We did notice the fire would die down and even go out, however heat was still being produced through the formation of coals at the bottom of the fireplace. We occasionally found that a random popping noise would happen and the coal in the bottom of the fireplace would disappear. Was it eaten? Did it just explode in a last-ditch effort to provide heat? I couldn’t tell. But nothing jumped out at me, nothing left me feeling concerned or worried.
My conclusion was that for the price of wood. I would continue to purchase my firewood from Icemule as the higher priced wood on the Isle, did not seem to be a better or hotter quality of wood. And the campfire wood would not be used within my fireplace however it would work in my home consistently burning at a constant heat and leaving a lovely smell, while the heat may be nice, it is not efficiently worth the price for in home use, and better for out on the trails to keep away the icy cold.
